Former Alcatraz Prisoner Returns to Reunite With Ex-Guards

- For three years Alcatraz was home for William Baker. The ex-con returns every year to revisit his past. The Alcatraz Federal Penitentiary, now a national park, was open for nearly 30 years from 1934 to 1963. It housed some of the country's most notorious criminals, including Al Capone. It was also home to the prison guards and their families. They reunite each year to swap stories from days gone by. InsideEdition.com’s Leigh Scheps ( / leightvreporter ) has more. #InsideEdition

Honestly my favorite part
It’s nice to see he learned his lesson and came out a descent person.
He literally said he was still committing crimes when he left
I thought the same thing. He even made crime his life by retiring from it lol.

How cool!
Who?
Imagine a kid living on the same island with the most dangerous and ruthless criminals
Lulu Harshie today I went to San Francisco and pass alcratrz and under golden state bridge 🌉
I bet criminals back then were a little more curtesy though
@@JamesK7911 no... not at all
Prisoners always had a rule against harming kids and they dont take kindly to people who do.
@@James007HungerZone Expect one of them prisoner has suitable for kids.
My dad was a guard there from 1956 until 1962... I was born at the old French hospital in SF and lived on the island with my mom and dad. I honestly don't remember very much as I was only two years old when my dad got transferred. But I still have lots of pictures....
that guard had a hell of a first day at Alcatraz
Just came from alacatraz. William Baker now works at the bookstore at Alcatraz. He is actually a pretty sweet guy. It’s like, for a moment, you wouldn’t think of him as a former prisoner.
I've met him actually, he did a book signing last year at Alcatraz
i’ve met him too in 2017
He did one today too.
He died in 1998, doubt you saw him 😂
@@rabihaahmed um... He published his book in 2013, and I don't think this video was punished before 1998.
I met this guy a couple years ago and bought his book and he signed it wow never thought I’d see him on here

“Heh huh”
He signed my shirt when I was 7
Man I would love to know William personally 😂
Why can’t some of my family work there Bc that’s a badass story for show and tell 😂
They would probalbly die in riots
Amazing stories.
I definitely remember studying Alcatraz in high school, definitely a fascinating landmark even if it was a place for the bad, knowing that families were raised there was unreal, I guess it made sense since they were on a small island in the middle of the open ocean! I’m just glad seeing prisoners and guards alike visiting this place even after decades!
Those who have been in prison and come out and never go back I say a very well done thumbs up
that wasnt these guys though.
Got his book signed by him, Awesome guy!
Imagine walking with a old man and you ask something and he says he was a prisoner here
This is so amazingly cool!!!
Inside edition got the most banger videos
When she says come back to the rock 0:44, I think of Dwayne Johnson
When you and your childhood enemy run into each other and you actually like each other now.
The Unsolved Boys ayyy
Reb and Vodka TM Call me Ella lol Ayyy
I met that guy!! I was there when he was! I have a signed book and photo
@4:38 I hope to be like Joan when I'm her age, rocking the colorful hair.
I'm going to buy a copy of his book...using counterfeit money...
I'm so glad I survived those days on the rock.
So cool
Good on you mate
I wouldn't shake their hands and never went back
As a former CO who In there right mind would want to return to the facility they retired from and recall all there experiences. I hated it and left a state facilty after 10 years
Just because you hated it doesn’t mean everyone else did
thats understandable. most people have no idea what a CO has to go up against. day in and day out. Constant stress. I dont think O would be rushing back
I went to Alcatraz and it was sooo awesome
i’ve met this guy and have his booked signed by him!
I got to meet William, he was very nice and I got his signature on the book he made
The opening music sounds like FFVI Magitek Research Facility
Younknow if you go through things together and as you get older your prospective changes. Soldiers go through wars and will site down and break bread with the enermy. Would you say thats normal or just a respect for each other. Bravo gents
I hope the case of the 3 escapees gets solved some time.
I slept there as a Cub Scout it was the coolest thing I’ve ever done
I got the pleasure of meeting Bill at a book signing at Alcatraz
*Escape from Alcatraz* movie was great! We will never know, whether those convicts dead or alive.
I read the book Alcatraz #1259, on my trip in USA, me and my wife went out to the rock to check the place out, and it just so happens that Baker where over there signing his book. I talked with him for a while, he seemd like a nice old man. It was pretty cool coz I did meet a part of living american history. With Bakers own word "go out there and meet me before I die".
One of the best places I've ever been
Did he just say he learned counterfeit in there and said that’s what he did when he got out
Aurhorah 1:00 yes
Crystal clear hahahahahaha
Yep lol 😂
But also he kept getting caught which lead him bac where he started
OMG!!!! When I was at alcatraz he was there signing books!
I'm went to Sherman Elementary School with the kids of the guards on Alcatraz. My first deskmate was Johnnie Lou Ashton. She lived on the island until the Escape and then her father was transferred to Leavenworth. I remember being so devastated that I lost my desk mate.

96! He looks MUCH younger!
Once upon a time it was a breath taking place.
That’s a cool old man he’s laugh 😂
What a madlad
Hard-hitting journalism here...
Funny how some people can spend 6 years somewhere then 70 years later he says that’s all I know...
That laugh at the beginning was too funny
I saw him today
Imagine being in jail with Al Capone 😳😳😳😳
Wow I read about this im school it's so interesting im glad I learned this it's in San Francisco
Alcatraz Alumni, legit sounds like high school
The 93 year old looks 73 and the 89 year old looks 65. Evidently the water there was pretty nice
