Biking in Copenhagen - Nørrebro - Nørreport - Summer time

- This is the road I bike everything to work. Its the road from Nørrebro which is famous for the multicultural community until Nørreport city center. I am using GoPro to make this ´video.

I remember the first time arriving in Copenhagen. My taxi was taking me from the airport to my hotel in the city center on a Monday morning. I was amazed at seeing so many people riding their bikes to work. You have to understand, I come from the Los Angeles, California area where everybody drives. So, it was culture shock at first. I think it is great many can ride their bikes to work-it is healthier. Here in California if people are riding their bikes it is mostly for exercise or recreation. I shared this video with a friend of mine here in California who rides his bike to work several times a week. He thought it was great. But did show a little concern that he noticed there were many not wearing helmets.
Bike helmets are not nessecary for commuting. Good bicycle infrastrukture is much more important for safety than a helmet and in fact it is I that should worry about the safety of your friend. :)
The situation is ecactly the same as the situation I have in Indonesia. People go cycling just for exercise and recreation.
If there are so many people cycling, there is safety in numbers. Meaning that motorists are constantly reminded that there are cyclists too on the road. Also every motorist is a cyclist too, so he/ she knows what to expect from cyclist's behavior.
Imagine iff all those people biking would sit in cars... that would be a biiig traffic jam.

Great video, thanks for sharing. I like the girl at 4:51 - she's actually fast on her racing bike. Also, it's looks a bit scary when you cross the Queen Louise's Bridge at 6:03. It's getting packed with bikers
Hey Poul, thanks for the comment. Yes, girls in Copenhagen are aggressive bikers. On the way back home people are just biking so fast and it is so crowded on the bike lane and people often end up crashing each other. You are welcome to try :)
