The great Carnatic musician MD Ramanathan (1923 - 1984) was a maverick who infused his performances with a soulful depth and fervor all his own. His voice, a rich and resonant baritone, had an almost mystical quality, blending tradition with an avant-garde spirit. MDR's concerts were spontaneous journeys, each note a unique brushstroke on the canvas of Carnatic music. Beyond the stage, he was a quiet seeker of truth and beauty. His legacy is a timeless tapestry of innovation and devotion, a beacon for future generations of musicians and dreamers alike.
‘The Boho Baritone’ is an intensive 2-part documentary on the life and legacy of MD Ramanathan, curated and produced by MOPA Foundation.
    MOPA is grateful to:

We have now Part 2 of the MOPA video on Maha Vidwan Shri M D Ramanathan Sir. So touching are the memories of his son Shri Balaji and the poems by Poet Shri Sachidanandan and Prince Shri Rama Varma. I would regard MDR Sir as the greatest legend in Carnatic music in totality with his unparalleled qualities within and outside the music world. His abilities, achievements, and contributions will revel and resonate so long as classical music lives. So great a video for the rasikas. Do we have more parts of the video, MOPA?🙌🙌🙌🙌🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
