@Alexandra Strambu Yes, your work should be uploaded to RB as RGB, but to ensure the colors are shown on a printed item how you envision them or how you made them, you should finish your design, then convert it to CMYK (change the sautration to your liking) and then convert it back to RGB. Then you can save them as a .PNG and upload it to RB. This is important because prints are done with the CMYK color profile, which has much less vibrant colors than sRGB does.

  • @riversenpai3053

(been looking through comments) 300dpi is for printing photographic print or even art prints usually, for editing and cropping and resizing I'd really recommend photoshop. You can get it with discounts, or cheaper packages on the site. Because you can increase the dpi, and save the quality on low res/smaller images in photoshop. (gimp is a good alternative too)
For shirts and stuff, the resolution does kinda matter, but increasing the dpi will make the image bigger but won't fix it if the image you took is blurry or out of focus. a large, 200dpi image is fine for shirts, and other merchandise! If you wannabe serious about taking photos and selling them on Redbubble, invest in a camera maybe, because the resolution you can get in cameras is 200-300dpi. and be larger than if you took it with a cellphone.
    I'm a photographer btw.

Hello Alexandra, How do you take a photo that can become a duvet or shower curtain? Seems Redbubble wants almost 8000x8000 pixels to make a good all over product. I don't want to just stretch the blur to make image larger. Thanks

is it good practice to increase image size to 2x or 3x larger? cause it will not increase the image quality only the size. and i think it will not look good on blanket and other big printed stuff. do you often use this methods to fit every product on redbubble ?

Hey, thanks for the valuable content you just shared !
I wonder how one can calibrate the contrast to not get washed out colors in the end product? As there is a difference between a monitor screen and a real print ?
    Why nobody speaks about this

    • @adrianvanleeuwen
      @adrianvanleeuwen 2 года назад +1

To answer, you would want to read up on how to use Levels graph in Lightroom or Photoshop (find tutorials on You Tube) so that the highlights are not overexposed or washed out. Regarding monitor screen, find one that is 100 percent sRGB and Dell has plenty around the 300 dollar range for 2560x1440 pixel resolution at 27 inch. You would also need a video card on your computer to keep the color accurate such as AMD Radeon or Nvideo, sometimes these are built in on the system in some cases. If you did not have a video card on your system you can still get by, but colors may not be as accurate with some slight variation in color and contrast.

I have a few questions please:
1_ Do I have to lower the margins in the start?( Have you done that already back at the time?)
2_Do I have to choose a profound title, description of tags to my uploaded work?
3_ Which is more selling according to your experience. Greenery, sea or ocean, or flowers maybe? Cities and architecture??

9000x9000 pixels = 81 megapixels right? Most smartphones don't go that high. So when you are exporting to 9000x9000, is it stretching your photo out? Or am I not understanding something. Great video btw

I do believe I have found a workaround to increase the size of my images using Canva for anyone that’s interested. You need Canva pro and a canvas size of 4,500x3,821 add the image of your choice then when downloading, change the size from 1x to 3x. This has worked for me and the quality looks fine. I would say that this should only be done a few images/pages at a time as it can take a few mins to save. I tried doing something similar in photoshop but it took too long.

Do you mean editing a pic you find on internet and sell products with it on redbubble? If so, that's not right, you have to sell there images/artworks made by you

Do you have any recommendation for promoting art works?
Alexandra you are amazing, thanks for the motivation.

Fyi the 200 to 300 dpi is necessary for photographic prints not for the products... mugs clothing etc... 72 dpi is more than adequate for products and clothing, and will keep the file size down. 9000 x 9000 @72 dpi will cover their largest product. You might want to look into the difference between resolution and DPI/PPI as it's very crucial to not misinform on this point. I'm sure the settings you used would have resulted in a file size at least 20mb. Otherwise nice video... I had dismissed red bubble before, not any more thanks to you.
For photographic prints 240 dpi is good and the resolution will be determined by your cameras megapixel - eg. 3000 x 4000 for a 12 megapixel camera, which is good for large prints @ 240 dpi. For red bubble's largest photographic print size you would need a 50mp camera.

Ok... I owe Alexandra and those who read my previous comment an apology, which is partially inaccurate.
      1) The dpi/ppi makes no difference to the file size. 300 is good.
      2) 9000 x 9000 is enough to cover the largest product offered.
Only for photographic print is dpi relevant, and the size you can print at that dpi is determined by the camera's resolution (unless you upsample) I'm really not sure if a 9000 x 9000 @ 300 dpi upload will affect the quality of the photographic prints on the site... probably not as no such print is offered at the size of a duvet cover.
      In conclusion great job Alexandra!

People, one tip from a photographer.... I do massive landscape photos by combining multiple shots. If you can use manual settings, you can do this too.
