- A rare opportunity recently to film and compare three of the world's largest aircraft arriving in quick succession. The Emirates Airbus A380 was a scheduled arrival, but the US Air Force Lockheed C-5M Super Galaxy and British Airways Boeing 747-400 were fog diversions to BHX from Mildenhall and Heathrow respectively.
The USAF plane needed special airfield precautions as it was reported as carrying 'hazardous cargo'.
Best wishes to everyone for 2017!
That C5 landing is about as close to perfect as it gets. Absolute butter! That nosegear sets down like a baby in a cradle, soft and gentle. 👍
The Wing Over the Fuselage design enables the C-5M as well as all other military aircraft to approach at lower air speeds. As well as quicker Lift off during Take Off
@@curtekstrom6600 not to mention keeps the wing spars out of the cargo area, increasing available space and decreasing loading and unloading times.
That landing was pure grease. Fantastic.
I came here to see the Airbus A380 and Lockeed C5 compared, but soon realized my dad worked as a design engineer on both the C5 and a little later, on the 747. He had been working on the General Dynamics F-111 in Ft. Worth, TX then we moved to Kennesaw, GA (as Marietta and Atlanta areas were full with an influx of new people). After the C5 project, we moved to Los Angeles, CA for dad to work on the original Boeing 747 (what culture shock for the family, as Kennesaw was super rural!). How wonderful to see these great giants all landing in the same place! Amazing video, with such great memories! Thanks!
Truly spectacular marvels of modern science which makes these MASSIVE Aircraft look weightless....as my Dad (who was a 747 pilot in India) used to describe the perfect landings...."it must be smooth as a baby's bum".
Beautiful footage. It's great that you additionally added those shots at the end focusing just on the touchdown, the most critical moment.
MONSTER LIKE!! A fantastic video buddy, keep up the good work
C-5M is beautiful !! It resembles the An 124 a lot. But my greatest passion after the An 225, is the A 380; the most beautiful among all !!
It's just so sad that these passenger giants (not talking about the C-5 ofc) aren't being made anymore...
The Military Pilots made the sweetest landing out of the 3 aircraft. The BA 747 was all over the place, which I found interesting, especially in view of the fact that there was zero wind. Zero wind confirmation at 2:46.
Awesome flugsnug! That repetition of the three landings in close up, is really superb. Thank you.
Not gonna lie, even though each landing was beautiful, the 747 absolutely buttered that one, nice smooth flair.
Military teaches to keep full elevator deflection on the rollout for maximum aerodynamic braking while keeping heaviest possible normal force on the mains. That 747 let the nose slam down compared to the C-5. Passengers get uncomfortable doing a wheelie down the runway, which is why the airlines let the nose down quicker.
Love our C5 and the Antonov 225 Mriya
I just love when the Airbus aircraft touch down. No matter what calibrate of size or gear - when it touches down on the rear gear (giggity) the aircraft shifts itself down onto another level. It just looks so satisfying.
5:04-5:07
It just stays up for a bit then goes down. Boeing is just simple, it goes straight down. Airbus have Style.
Desmond C. I know right!!!!! And when the little gears next to the main gear SHAKES! SO SATISFYING....
Nothing to do with the design of the plane mate it's all in the landing. The A380 had very slight bounce which gave the effect you mention
thanks for putting in the aircraft type. it's annoying when aircraft you tubers don't do this.
Stellar production!!! The 747 is the least monstrous of these multi-wheelers, just because of its elegance in my opinion :)
Got to agree - from some angles at least, the other two look a bit ungainly.
Hahaha
Bei dem Jumbo 747 muss unbedingt die rechte Landeklappe erneuert werden. Die C-5M zeigt eine solide und starke Flügelform. Perfekt!
Great video. Majestic birds all.
This was epic!!! Have an awesome new year! And looking forward for more!
Hope for a few epic days next year - have a great 2017!
flugsnug Thanks Flugsnug! ✈✈
It's crazy to think how large a 747 is in real life, yet the C-5 & A380 make it look boarder line petite
The 747-8 is now the same size as a c5.
Referring to the fuselage girth/bulk, not necessarily absolute length or wingspan. @@bigchungus1848
Glad you captured the C5. you are the only photographer who could do it justice.
Where’s the AN-124 ruslan?! As well as the AN-225 mriya?! These were the only missing! But all in all a brilliant video (👍)!! 😄😅
Thank you for this excellent video so clear and breathtaking .
thanks, and a pleasure
Thank Lockheed though! Amazing aircraft
RayChildsAviationNZ I ust
I thank god he made you
That A380 was lovely 😍
All we need now are the A340-500, A340-600 , Boeing 747-8, Antonov An-225 Mriya, 777Xs and the A350 and then we'd have pretty much every major aircraft operate at least once out of BHX.
Very smooth landing for all 3 aircrafts
this is fantastic! what a nice comparison and the filming is flawless. huge like!
Brilliant capture of the fog diversions! And of course the regular A380.
DMTaylor90 ✈ Aviation & Rail jhhgu
Brilliant video flugsnug! Liked a lot!
Magnificent....worth the long wait!
I like the old engine sound on the Galaxy
TF-39
I prefer the GE90
It's a JT9D
The new shot wack. That old engine demand respect
@@matheo9246 I dun like Ge90...
Happy new year Flugsnug! Love your work!
Three monster birds. Great catch.
Superb camera work as always... Thank you.
Wow excellent, epic and impressive
Nice comparison. Amazing footage of all 3 aircraft!
Fantastic videography as always. Keep up the great work!
Lovely shots on such a calm day
Nice comparison! Amazing footage of all 3 aircraft!
Great video mate! Thanks for sharing! Thumbs up! :))
I don't know why, but the 747 looks asthectically pleasing to me.
I just love how they keep the spoilers up for such a long time :)
well captured as always! :-)
C5m too quiet a and b versions brilliant sound, could hear them miles away
Very nice - thank you for sharing!
great video my friend.. learnt a lot watching your videos
Awesome video mate!
Nice spot for filming. Well done
Great shots, all 3 are beautiful aircrafts. Wish you a happy new year. :)
happy new year!
Amazing video like always thanks for sharing your perfect view on runway and these great airplanes.
They certainly are great. Now if only the An-225.....
that would be................. fantatic.
Awesome catch 👍
Nice Catches bud. I got the C5 departing Prestwick the day after as it flew up from BHX during the night.
they wanted to go to Biggin Hill, then Luton!
When you consider the size of these planes, you've just got to wonder how can they do all that they can do, same with huge boats such as container and cruise ships. That's just the beauty and the power of machinery and engineering.
Engines that generate over 50,000 lbs of thrust each, Massive flight control surfaces that generate unprecedented amounts of lift, and advanced fly by wire controls do wonders.
I've had the privilege of flying a C-5 Galaxy simulator, but I've never seen a real one up close, personally. I FIND THAT TROUBLING.
I watched this while i was on an 747
My seatmates kept on watching with me
LOOVE these giant aircraft ❤❤❤❤❤
that C-5 landing is money
03:13 a very rare example of RR engines on 747-400
The voice of the devil
I love it ❤️
Airbus a380 is just so cool.
What did you said 'bout A380? Yes, multi-wheeled, but it's not a monster. It's just a big cute centipede. Flying centipede, isn't it sweet?
yes, I always leave a bowl of centipede food for it at the end of the runway
A380 always makes my heart beat. What a perfect airliner!
Not perfect.
Noodle Games A380 is more than perfect.
The only thing the A380 has going for it is it's size. Plus it looks like an alien. A plane doesn't have to be THAT big.
Noodle Games Well it is that BIG! And there is even another plane BIGGER than it! It generates more MONEY for airlines than any airliner and it was AWARDED as the BEST plane in the world. A380= PERFECTION! 747 with that head looks more of alien though, it looks more of an octopus lmao 🐙.

You are pretty obsessed with size ha?
With the A380 it's all about prestige (the passengers like the feeling of sitting in WORLDS BIGGEST AIRLINER) thats why airlines buy it. Actually the 747-8 uses less fuel per seat than the A380.
When it comes to looks everyone is different. I would always take the beautifully well
proportioned 747 over that fat pig. But that's just personal preference though.
4:03. What the-? An A380 with reverse thrust sounds like it has afterburners?
Boeing 747 is currently 50 years old
Great video keep up the good work
Outstanding!!
I like the c5m
It was epic, good video .
I saw that USAF plane come in to land. Surreal. Also, what's with BA using bhx now?
only when they are forced to!
Esses BOING Mt show de bola , esse C5 e mt fascinante !!
Ya forgot about the Antanov AN225 when talking about multiple wheels
I didn't forget, it just didn't land here that day
ever amazing views. tks!
My list : 1) galaxy C5 -- 2) A380 and an124 Ruslan -- 3) the legend 747 and B52 stratofortress -- 4) the colossal hughes hercules H4 and the biggest antonov 225 Mriya
B747 the most beautiful plane!.
A380 IMPRESIONANTE!!!
These aren't monsters these are Winged beasts.
que hermosura, son unos colosos del aire
Nice!!
Great video but you know you've got one that's missing in your video and i would assume it's because you've never seen it yourself in person. If you haven't guessed by now, I'm talking about the "colossus of the clouds the Antonov AN-225 Mriya.
I still don't know how many wheels The C5 Galaxy has ...
I don't think anyone knows...
I counted 20 wheels, correct me if i am wrong!
Hold up, the c5 was at BHX
1:52 the person in the cockpit: huh, why are we here?
Wow dj's aviation and rachel's aviation here
whenever i see the c-5 i think of dwayne johnson
Amazing Trio . + Antonov 124 ruslan .
nice now have bring out the antonov 255
Can you make like this three videos in one simultaneous shot. One above other to see how they touch down differently.
Good idea - probably should have included it here.
flugsnug hope to see it soon! :)
The hazardous cargo was probably artillery or tanks.
The C-5M may sound like a 747, but they're not as powerful nor performance-savvy as a 747, let alone a 777. The A380's bypass ratio is similar to that of the older C-5's, yet they (GP7200) may not be as eye-catching as the TF39.
Are you sure cuz the a380 engines are way bigger at 116 inches
Hehe.... Ware is ANTONOV AN124 XD
A380💪💪
Its a pity the Antanov wasn't there
Awesome
A380's front gear didn't bounce like 747's
C-5 Galaxy
The should've added the An-124
Only one was ever made.
@@T1Oracle You mean the AN-225?
maybe my favorite is ............. Galaxy C5
Goes to show the importance of aircraft having reserve fuel...
the 747 looks the best
just plane crazy 747 is the ugliest and most boring
agree! A380 has be to the ugliest IMO
Al's Aviation Adventures 747 big headed is the most ugliest duh
That's your opinion. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. How silly is it to argue something that is subjective to each one of us. I think the 747 looks great.
Al's Aviation Adventures A380 looks elegant and all that, 747 has this big head and a big nose lmao
Where is Antonov AN-225? B747 is my favorite tho.
C-5M can do rear wheel steering?
coughargh Yes: a bit of steering to aid cross-wind landings, and a wider range at low speeds to aid ground handling. Boeing B-52 aircraft have a similar system.
It’s most visible at around 1:10
