That's a regular tp4056 li-ion charging module with protection circuit for the battery. It charges with 1A. But can be set to charge with less current.
Thank you!

And Big Clive JUST RELEASED a very nice video about it! Incredible timing!

Thanks
But usually you have to replace a resistor to lower the current. Could probably use a potentiometer to dial in the resistance to result in the desired charging current.
It hasn’t got a heatsink so can’t be expected to last long charging at 1A.
Also for anyone interested you can get them with USB-C and Micro-USB connector types most commonly.
Look for a version 2 board, those are better designed according to one of the moderators in the ERS discord.
royal repair ,thank you for such a good lesson Sorin
Thank you for sharing. In my view the original attempt do not look like proper soldering without causing any offence. I could see the mess with the components. It looks like the port was loose but only the legs were soldered as the solder on all pads looked factory to me.
Brilliant fix thanks Sorin
Thank you for the video I'm trying to learn because I've broken my hinge on my laptop. But I haven't got the encouragement
Great and for me very comprehensible video. :)
Educational. As usual. Thanks.
Garmins are nice satnavs as you can put there open maps.. even on very old ones new maps.

That is a nomad diode. It's not supposed to be tied down. /s
A free-spirit diode maaaan
Sorin it´s a pity you don´t Upload more videos I hooked to them for so long that now I have the withdrawal symptoms because I don´t have enough!!
That diode is actually the gyroscope :D
great fault finding Sorin :)
The replacement port had the ground tab in a slightly different spot than the original thus ground wasn't connected. I don't like the C part of the port ground clip overlapping the land near the spot Sorin soldered the wire. That can end up being a short circuit.
that's what the right approach to repair means
вот что значит правильный подход к ремонту
i use this chargers alot tp4056 tupe-c or mini
Thanks
All those solders were dull as hell - you could have fixed those, you normally do.
It's actually scary that if this had not been so messed up it would have been sent back as repaired. Somebody paid for that job. So eBay cowboy is making jobs like that... And getting paid.
Hello sir If Something on the board își burn, and doesnt let the garmin start, can be replaced?
What do you mean just a missing ground, there were 2 components out of place. Someone did a bad job.
Weird… good thing you got it in mostly working state tho
I'm surprised you don't know the TP4056, charging ic specific for lithium cells.
If Something is burn at the board ,can pe repaired? Gps start and when îs in,powers off automatly
Where is heatsensor on this device?
Not too many shining solder joints in that eBay repair
Sorin I mean no disrespect but plz plz do something with your camera/scope setup it seems out of focus? Whispers Northridgefix 😉
his sight is different than ours. so for him it may be clear. cant always make it clear for video and not see what he is doing. its actually nothing to worry about if you can see most of what happens.
@@cptrush3671 I know his view is different to the video but his work setup is more pleasing on the eye?
Tap the cogwheel icon & change it to higher picture quality.
Was experiencing similar & found it was only on 240p.
Hope it helps!

What about DATA lines ?
He showed the USB connection to a computer which resulted in the display message onscreen that mentioned it was in data transfer mode.

Thanks for your informative video as always. But, recent videos have come with many annoying commercial adds. I understand that making money is essential for everyone, but hopefully not from this channel where electric enthusiasts who want to learn something come to watch.
Did you say you saw nothing wrong with the soldering? Really? Looks like someone hot-aired the board and nuked the components.
