Nice video Johnny and I think this Nightjet is one of the new generation on a test drive. And about Semmering: it is a very nice hike from Semmering to Gloggnitz, there is a video about it on my channel. Beautiful views of the railway line!
Arrived today and yes the ceiling at Graz is amazing as is the similar art installation in the underpass to Waagner-Biro-Strasse. A bit of a rave to get here from Vienna thanks to the current storms. Love your stuff please keep us entertained.
Thanks so much John - pleased to hear you loved the art at Graz too. Hope you have a great trip, through the floods and the storms, and thanks for the kind words 👍
I was at Vienna Main station Yesterday. I really like it there, so many food options, clean and from Vienna there are so many options for train travel.
Congratulations Johnny on reaching 10,000 subscribers. You are now producing a very diverse range of high quality videos on transport related topics. I am very familiar with the Semmering line. The only thing of importance you missed was the memorial at Semmering station to the Austrian engineer, Von Gegha, who built the Semmering line. He proved that you could build a steeply graded steam-traction railway line through the Alps. At the time, many thought that was impossible. He proved them wrong. That is why the line is a UNESCO world heritage site. It provided the example which was then followed by the Mont Cenis, Gotthard, Simpoln and Lotschberg lines, and other mountainous lines world wide.
@@Fan652w thanks for the kind words... and thanks for extra information too. As you say, this was an important test case that everyone else followed. ...to the next 10,000!
Another reason the tracks over the Semmering pass will be kept after the base tunnel is complete: Redundancy. When the Gotthard base tunnel was shut last year due to that accident, the Swiss simply re-routed everything over the alternative route over the top. Things were delayed, but everything kept moving.
Gorgeous views of the Semmering Pass, I never had the chance to visit back when I spent time in Vienna years ago and wish I had explored further now. Another great video 😀
@@ampersand. Yes, I loved the mural. I spent quite a long time looking at it... sadly a 3 min section of video staring at a ceiling isn't very cinematic! Best wishes to all at & Towers 👍

Lovely stuff, cheers. I was supposed ride the Semmering Pass back in April (Villach-Wien) but we were diverted via Linz due to engineering.
