for the drag races, early on, it should be do able because the difficultly ramps up as you go through the game.
later on, a good tune is your best shot. you'll want to have a really low first gear (wheel spin isn't really a thing in NFSUG2 drag racing), and a tune specifically for as much top end power as possible. your gears will be set by whatever ratio allows you to fully use each RPM range, while staying in the powerband.
if you have to fall out of the power band to get the needed top speed, put your "dead zones" in the lower half of the gears (first, second, or third). the great torque multiplier will mean the dead zone will be less pronounce.
