Which of the books we looked at did you like the most and why? Do you have a favourite pocket guide that we didn't talk about today? Were you inspired to do some looking around for a book of your own? I look forward to reading some of your thoughts... I will create the next video as soon as I am able to. I look forward to starting a conversation with you all.
Me and my dad did the rspb great brittish garden bird watch together last year, its amazing what cute little birds are in the garden. I currently have a beautiful robin that visits me on a daily basis, he must like it in the garden.
@@TheRamblingRoseMedia i did the bird watch too this year - sadly due to the storms i saw absolutely nothing from my window for days! i had wanted to to a vid about it, but saw no birds whatso ever!!! i often get gangs of sparrows a robin mr and mrs blackbird, and an occasionally i get blue tit and other occasional visitors. i would love a garden, but i have my patch i watch from the window. some people say, that if you see a Robin, it is a loved one come to say hi.
Thank you for this video. My knowledge of birds is rubbish. Recently I got interested to learn more and to irradiate my ignorance. I will start with one of the books you suggested.
there are pocket guides for all kinds of nature. they are such a useful tool as a quick I.D with some information. Thanks for stopping by, much appreciated

Great video. Flows well all the way through, and good helpful info. :) Thanks! I do agree about the lack of females and fledglings in most bird guides, as you say they can be quite limited sometimes. And also it is nice when they have the birds 'on the wing', as this is often how we see them, and its exciting to get an id on something that maybe one just catches a glimpse of in passing. Looking forward to more content, and hope you can find the space and time to continue to be creative.
thankyou for watching, i am glad you found this helpful - i really wasn't sure once i created it! i am glad it has been received positively by people who have watched it, in whole or I'm part - fingers crossed folks watched me rambling on until the end! lol
I still have the Mitchell Beazley 'Birdwatchers Pocket Guide' I bought in 1990....excellent book imho the graphics are good, heaps of information, sexes, distribution, calls etc all included within its 190 pages, 3-1/2" x 7-3/4"...and you can still pick one up today for less than £4 !
I too, have a few older bird books, maybe i will talk about them too later down the road! :) thanks for the heads up, i might have to go search a copy of that book out.
hello and welcome :) thank you very much. i am looking forward to my journey talking about a vast subject that i am passionate about :) welcome on board
i may look at other books some time soon, there are so many to choose from. i am glad you found it useful as a good starting point. thanks for the compliment about my accent! you must be mad! hehehe ;)
@@Calvin.The.UnfindableI can tell by your accent you must live in the West Midlands. If you do, you must visit Iron Bridge, some incredible wildlife there.
i've not been to Iron Bridge for years! not sure i could get there now, but its worth considering, i never say never. maybe one day i will get back there!
Hi Calvin just watched this lovely video. My father had an interest in bird watching when i was a little girl, we had a book that we could tick off the different species as we identified them. I too prefer a photograph, i agree that you get a clearer identification from a photo rather than illustration. Lovely video my friend xx
hello there The Rambling Rose. that is such a precious memory for you, keep it and hold it tight.. i will admit i havent seen a book like that recently, i might keep an eye out and do a tiny vid about my impressions ideas... thank you for you such kind comments. hope you doin ok. fingers crossed i get the courage to get something new up soon :)

Hello there Potential Reality. I am working on something, it is just taking longer than I thought - as life has a tendency to "get in the way". I am figuring out how frequently these video's might be uploaded, i wish i could create more often, but it's just not meant to be at the moment. Thankyou for dropping me a comment. Lets keep our fingers crossed for something in the next week or two 😃
@@potentialreality I knew it would be time consuming, I just have to be realistic, and understand that my channel will grow a lot slower than other channels who can upload once or twice a week! I wish I had the time to be creating more.
@@potentialreality i've got plenty of video ideas, it is finding the time to record them. its good you have many videos in advance, and when you get to say your last 15, you can start recording again, to keep up and always have something to upload I think that is a great idea, I would like at some point to be there, but its a bit tricky for me. Maybe one day I will be able to record and edit in advance. 😀 fingers crossed!

i felt looking at various guides in this vid, would be best so people could see the possibilities of what is out there in their price ranges.
