I think the RSPB could raise funds by running an online course in identifying birds by song. I would definitely sign up for it!
i know i’m late to this video, but i have just started trying to identify bird calls because i loved birds as a child and want to continue that love, and i’m only a beginner still, i can barely tell them all apart, but i guessed these ones right!! i’m so proud!!
I have an LP called A Tapestry of British Birdsong and it’s recorded with a parabolic reflector !
Great to have the bird song identified, i'd like to learn more
Thank you RSPB.
Such glorious music, from our feathered friends, so touching.
Made my Morning, thank you guys.
Have a great Day.
Kind Regards,
Sue Wright
Thank you - better than any prescriptive mindfuless moment.
A good start to our more common wood and garden birdsongs: he didn't comment on the woodpecker drumming as he entered his patch. Such a charcteristic sign of spring as they
drum out their presence either as a warning to others or as a note to possible mates (or both!).
The Merlin app is great for learning birdsong. It records sounds and tells you live which bird it can hear. Its very accurate too, would highly recommend for people wanting to learn how to id birds by their song
Brilliant; so friendly, entertaining, encouraging and funny. Thanks for these 👍
Love to learn to recognize the birds y their songs
This is really good as you haven't got too many calls. ☺️ Thank you.
I tend to i.d birds through their sound rather than observing as sometimes they can hide very well I love nature sounds ❤
Lovely, thank you and i also learnt, take care, great video
I agree, I'm trying to get back into birdsong. This selection is ideal for me to relearn them all again.
Recently joined the RSPB and love this! Thanks for the help in identifying the local bird songs in our garden.
Very enjoyable to watch & listen to. A good help to appreciate the variety of birds around us
Thank you for this. I am trying to learn the birdsong's myself so this was really useful, the description helps a lot! Sounds like there will be more so looking forward to that.
Well done. Looking forward to following along on your bird song adventure. Thanks
Lovely! I am also trying to learn the sounds of birds, it's such fun!
Brilliant! More like this please, very clear and not too much to remember. I started learning last summer but have a lot to learn! Thank you 🙂
Hi Stephen this is my 1st time watching & listening to your super video 👍great, love the soft Scottish accent & your verbal description of the bird song plus bringing in the expert, as a beginner I will be following you in future Thanks Dickey Isle of Sheppey
Just watched this video and it's great to put a face/bird to all those lovely bird sounds/songs I've heard over the years!
I have a male Blackbird singing every morning at 0515hrs just outside my window. A flute and sharp tappings. The best alarm ever produced. I was amazed how Beautiful a Robin song was too. Thrush is similar to a Blackbird for me anyway, Wrens and long tailed tits have a really high pitched note. Brilliant
I also would like to learn to identify birds by their song .
I found the experts describe the sounds very helpful
I am hard of hearing and have to really concentrate when in the woods listening to bird songs
Thank you
This video was so helpful, thank you!
Great video.
I LOVE this video - brilliant
Often you cannot see the bird that is singing or it is silhouetted against a bright sky. It means you can only know it is there when it sings. I have found that blackbirds make different sounds for different things.
Very instructive for amateurs like me. Lets have some more sound bites.
It's sooooo hard. Lol but fun 😆
Thank you! Am on here desperately trying to find a call from yesterday..."teewit" repeated over and over. Any ideas please?
Bird song very faint in comparison with the speaker's voice, so it's difficult to hear the birdsong without being deafened by the speaker.
Isn't the monotonus whistle-like call at 4:40 a common chiffchaff?
Thanks for this. I often identify a birds by hearing it before I see them (eg long tailed tits. I know quite a few birds I hear regularly but would like to brush up on it so keep the recordings coming with the adult expert!!
Lukes', chaffinch sounds like a chiffchaff.
What mic do you use?? Would love to do this
Hi Alana, I use a Sennheiser ME66 gun mic that I mostly have for shooting interviews. There's a lot of fun stuff going round just now on twitter about making your own parabolic mic with a mixing bowl!
