A recent report estimates India's snow leopard population at 718, with Ladakh hosting the most. Threats to snow leopards include development, climate change, and free-ranging dogs. Tracking the wildcats the study was conducted using survey methods that involved questionnaires and camera traps in the Himalayan region of 6 states. While the report as been welcome experts suggest a wider study area to build further on the research.
