“And sending cringey shit” made me laugh in an otherwise sad story. I love your videos for the nice mix of respect towards the victims and still a tiny bit of humor at the perpetrators and how awful they are.

I know this guy. I met him several times. He was seeing a close friend of mine and I remember telling her that there was something off about him, but I couldn't quite put my finger on it. Chilling to look back on the photos where we're all standing together laughing and smiling.

How the heck do you get two life sentences and then given a minimum age (61) before even being considered to be let out????? Take parole OFF THE TABLE. If the victims don't get to live out their life; you don't get to live yours. Period.
@@JuliaR60 Exactly!! I will never understand advocating for hard criminals to have rights. Same as teenagers that commit horrific crimes... sorry, they shouldn't get to have their records sealed and new identities! Advocate for life adjustment after the fact but not for a new slate! I'm so sick and tired of a criminal system that is pro the criminal and not the victim and their families. I'd be the first to fight for a wrongfully imprisoned person but no one else. Want to deter crime? Make serving time HARD! Otherwise criminals will continue to believe they may just get away with it.
@@GoldenPeaches I do agree with you, but I only spoke about horrific crimes. Stats and psychologists also agree that some teenage criminals will re-offend. So yes, let some move on if the offense was not serious but others, no.

The nasty ironic part of this story is that Luke Fawcett who wanted money to pay for his rent, food, etc, ended up getting free rent and food for the rest of his miserable life.
Considering she could theoretically have another 30 to 40 years to live, it's absolutely the right perspective. I hate the way society makes you think your life is over once you hit 25.
Seemingly normal people, doing horrific things, may be scarier to me than the obvious psycho. The obvious is easier to avoid. You think, ew they look & act crazy, we should keep an eye on them & stay far away. The young, helpful, psychologist next door isn’t a threat. What a crazy world! Great story Adrian! Take care😍
Most of the serial killers are exactly like this, seemingly normal people. They are the best liers and pretenders ever. It's terrifying and kind of fascinating at the same time.

Honestly in todays society I find if somebody is making an effort not to stand out or seems a little too nice then they're more suspicious. Unfortunately not all types of crazy are obvious to the eyes and its ones like him that make you have to lock your doors and trust few.
Psychopaths have no problem faking normal emotions & paying lip service to social norms to fit in. BTK was a pillar of his Church & took 15 years of killing to raise his kids. Ted Bundy worked for a DV helpline. John Wayne Gacey did a lot of local fund raising & charity work. Psych research found the favourite careers for those with psychopathic traits were, in order, Corporate CEO, medicine, law enforcement. Their ego & grandiosity means they love a role with power & status.

Cuz you’re first instinct after not hearing from someone is to immediately call the police, it’s to either check on them yourselves or call around and see if someone else will or at least has heard from them. To say you ‘hope that eats at her’ is uncalled for, rude and shows what a douche you are.
I still remember hearing about this when it happened. My sister and I went to primary school with him and he was in her class. My sister would even speak to him frequently when he was working at EB Games, apparently asking if she'd like to go get coffee and whatnot. All I can say is thank god she didn't take up those offers.
I don't live far from where this happened. I don't remember even hearing about it. Scary seeing the clip of him in that Bunnings, where I've been so many times. You never know who could end up causing your death, these creeps are everywhere
The number of horrendous crimes that happen like this every year is mind boggling! What is it that makes people believe that taking another human life is OK? Good God man! I’m kinder to my dogs than many people are to one another. There must be something we can teach people at a young age to prevent this from happening in the future.
It's amazing how many suspects think they can buy themselves more time by answering the victims texts or emails only for it to be their downfall. Everyone has their own way of phrasing things along with spelling, grammer and punctuation that is unique to them that their family and friends are familiar with. Any deviation from that sends up red flags.

Psychology has never been a hard science, but it's flooded with magical thinking and denial of reality and logic now days. A person being a psychologist shouldn't be correlated with anything other than the person has a paper that claims they have a psychology degree.
There's some truth about doctors being the worst at seeking help for themselves that also likely extends to people in healthcare in general. It's not that they don't think there's anything wrong, it's because they know something isn't right, but don't want to accept that.

Just a short word on psychologists: when you work in a hospital, it's common knowledge that many psych doctors are as crazy as their patients. So don't act shocked that a psych student is nuts. They often study psychology to try to figure out what is wrong with themselves.
All healthcare workers that end up in psychiatry/mental health & the few state ran facilities left here in the U.S. are always batty themselves. Even if you started completely sane, once working in that environment for so long it’s liable to rub off.
Adrian, I'm really impressed with your calm, fact filled presentations. It's distracting (and often annoying) when the narrator manufactures emotion, or keeps telling listeners what we should feel. I admire the respect you give the victims, and how you tell us of their lives and experiences, it means the killers don't get as much attention, which is as it should be. One of the craziest individuals I ever met was a college dropout who had been studying to be a psychologist. That individual made so many threats against me and others that I had to ghost one of my best friends just to cut ties with that person since they also knew them and did not seem to understand what the problem was.
I was brutally sexually assaulted by a young man and his friend who was 15 at the time,I was 33.the rapist mother works in the mental health suite that i tried to get help from,this woman who thinks her son is whitwr than white.has paid people to make my life hell,she has been in the mental health system for years and works with people that have had all sorts of mental health complaints like my own.the only difference is her son did what he did
As weird as it seems I've been diagnosed with a slew of things and Ive always been told I'd make a great psychologist or therapist. I'm an extreme empath and have alot of compassion for people who are "lost, broken, damaged". I have done alot of work on myself and looking at why I do/did certain things and how to change them. I'll admit i wasn't a very good person in my younger years but I have made every attempt at changing that and becoming a better human being. I do find the human mind a very fascinating enigma and enjoyed studying the psychology of a psychopath. Idk why I can't answer that but it's been somehow healing or therapeutic to do so....
Coincidentally, i used to work with a part-timer who was studying psychology on the side. He himself was an alright guy and was pretty good with people when it came to interacting, but he told me all his older brothers were either convicted felons, had ties with street gangs or both. Taking into consideration the stories of other people as well, its like theres a certain pattern there. Almost as if many of those interested in the functionality of the human mind tend to hold criminal / menacing tendencies themselves.
Depends, I was assaulted in New Zealand by a large group of young maori while waiting outside a bar for friends, woke up in hospital with a card with the polices number on it, remembering that it happened directly infront of a CCTV on a pole I rang them to ask if they could use the video as evidence so I could press charges. When I got to the police station in gisborne the officer I told rolled his eyes and told me "what were you doing in town? stay out of trouble" then said "bloody pakehas" under his breath as I walked out. So it kinda depends on who you are as to whether the police take your case seriously here, they'll take a maori gang member with swastika tattoos on his face more seriously then a pakeha victim of assault.
Again, this guy is letting his personal emotions influence the documentary. I'm sure he himself has sent some "cringey shit" to partners that we are not privy to. I think it's his way of attacking the killer in a non violent way.

Actually, he was not a psychologist, "A provisional psychologist" is someone who is still in training, so he was supervised by a fully registered psychologist. Hence "provisional registration" was revoked. However great video Adrian, always nice to watch your channel

Adrian, Thanks for telling about this case. It just makes you realise how dangerous this world is, you can not be careful enough when it comes to trusting somebody and letting them into your home. Luke should never ever be released from prison, he is and will always be a danger to society. I’m so sorry for Marie‘s and Wayne‘s families, they lost two of their loved ones all at once. 😔

It is reminiscent of an old tv crime show called City Confidential. I believe some episodes can be found here. The original narrator, Paul Winfield, also had a wonderful story telling voice just as Adrian has.

I love how you always find stories that I haven’t heard before. I live in Australia (on the east coast) and I would have thought that this case would have been covered on the national news. Mind you we are actually closer to Auckland, NZ than we are to Perth. So I guess it’s not surprising that we don’t always hear about what is happening on the other side this country.

My kids are at the same uni he went to and we go to that Bunnings. I'd heard of the case but didn't know how f'd up he was and how close to use this all was. Clearly another malignant narcissist who wanted to be rich and attractive to women without doing anything to earn it.
I have lived in Perth for almost my whole life and it’s so rare to have a murder let alone a double murder however we seem to be good at catching them. The Claremont serial killer is also an unbelievable story. Maybe check it out.

His Telecom car being seen near where he abducted a girl who got away...right near the hospital where he attempted to rape someone else while there working in his job. Oh god, as soon as you showed the city and the generic Perth apartment block on the intro, I immediately knew where this is. The joys of living there half your life. Now I have to watch this video in excitement and fear on what's to come on a case I've never heard about until now!
I went to high school with Luke. I actually dated him for a little bit also! He was my first ever date, and my first kiss! So this came as a shock to me, and obviously everyone we went to school with. Luke and I went out only a couple of times, but I remember he used to call me too much, and when I was obviously losing interest, he would call me in the middle of the night crying and saying really angry stuff about his mum. It was odd. He always called me "kiddo".

It was pretty amazing that her friend followed gut instinct that her text didn't sound like her. She was so on the ball. What an extraordinary story, very different. I love how every murderer always claims self defense with some asinine story. I think you should get an extra 5 years for an unbelievable defense if you are convicted as a deterrent for people to not use these ridiculous defense stories. (obviously, this would never happen, but it would be nice if it did.)
There are people who believe themselves to be more clever that the ones who get caught. And they get caught themselves. The really clever ones are the ones who aren’t even suspected. Makes you think.

@@joanhoffman3702 this is most criminals in a nutshell. It's so rare repeat offenders ever actually completely get away. The REALLY smart ones are the ones who quit while they're ahead, or move states then commit their crimes in a different way as to throw any connection off. Most smart people understand if they're involved in criminal activity and don't stop, they will eventually get caught.
As a native west aussie, I'm surprised I had never heard of this case before. The other case you did covering WA - Cleo Smith's disappearance - was one that garnered national headlines. So I'm shocked at how this was somewhat unknown to a lot of folks here. If any fellow aussies could shed some light about the extent of this cases coverage in the media I'd like to hear it. It's quite the messed up situation to be sure and is quite ironic how someone who was studying in psychology turned out to become a psychological killer. Also, you're right about Perth and how isolated we are from any neighbouring cities. There is a reason why Perth is considered the most isolated city in the world. The fact that the majority of the state is just outback adds to that isolation. Also also, you calling Luke's texts while he was hospitalized 'cringey shit' was just gold. Cracked me up there. Unbelievably tragic! I lost my brother. I can't imagine losing both siblings. 💔 My sister and I hang on tighter to each other now more than ever. Prayers for that poor woman who is left without the pieces of herself. 🙏

This is so frustrating, I hate murders without motive, it makes no sense and it feels like they died for nothing. Im proud of the brother who attacked the killer, but sadly lost his life. The poor sister left behind without siblings breaks my heart :'(

I wonder how he thought he could get away with this. Did he think he could just take over her apartment and no one would even miss her? Sure there are loners who lie dead in their apartment for years before being discovered, but he must have known that Maree had a rich social life and family that cared about her.

Agree .A lot of people that work as Counsellors are nutters. Usually they themselves have struggled with addiction or shitty childhoods and think they are experts 🙄
If you ever have the time, I suggest looking up the case of Luisa Cutting - she was a student at Radford University in Radford, VA. I’m only aware of this case, due to me being a former student there - this happened a few years after I graduated. I doubt you’d find enough information to do a proper video on it, unfortunately - due to Luisa being arrested willingly on site. Cheers. @@bop7901 I don’t know of many, the only one that I’ve seen covered that hits close to home is the shopping cart killer, recently. He apparently killed some people down in Harrisonburg, which is ironically where I lived for x-ray school 2 years ago.
@@upsidedownnugget9531 I am not sure why it was mentioned that the crime took place in Leonard St. When it reported onthe TV they said it was Hubert St. The paratments near Office Works. I believe the photos shown are also of those apartments. Yes in Australia they don't make a huge deal of these type of crimes it will only get mentioned 24 hours in the news. I think they don't want copycat killers. I remember when there 2as stabbing death at King George St the poor guy got something like 40 fatal stabbs. It was done by his friend over a few thousand dollars. The news hardly even covered it..

The thing I really like about Adrian is that there isn't a time where this feels like a comedy show or that he's focusing on trying to make his audience laugh - rather he is more about giving the facts and developing the story in a coherent way; to me that shows incredible respect to the victims and to those featured in these mini docs. They didn't ask to be part of the RUclips spotlight, and its easy to forget that even those who deserve sympathy and empathy often do not want the attention. I think Adrian deals with all his videos with a great amount of respect with a primary focus on information and facts...not comedy and sarcasm. It's why I prefer this channel over any other one on RUclips...which is something that wasn't true over a year ago. Love the upward trajectory and the beautiful editing, A! Keep it up!

He speaks badly and makes fun of the criminals, with no lack of reverence to the victims. Maybe everyone needs to stop looking to be offended on others' accounts, and relax a bit.
You should cover The Wolf Family murders. It’s a still unsolved case from 1920, in Turtle Lake, North Dakota. It’s one of the worst crimes ever to take place in my home state.
You have such a straight forward yet gentle approach to all of this. These stories may be heartbreaking but the victim's stories need to be shared and they need to be remembered. My deepest condolences to the family.

I have noticed this as well, I actually had a friend that was studying psychology, he himself was struggling with pretty bad depression (and childhood trauma). He broke off our friendship rather abruptly, it's been a couple years, we had no contact but recently he has started to send me messages with fantasies about assaulting me. Needless to say I hope he never actually becomes a psychologist. Even if it's just 'fantasies' or kink it has definitely concerned me.

Thank you for sharing an unfamiliar case with us. It is so tragic that one self centred weirdo took the lives of two siblings who would never have harmed him. Their deaths must be so difficult for the family to process. May they RIP.
Every person I ever knew who studied Psychology had childhood issues that they were trying to understand. And, interestingly, they were all open to admitting that. My best friend is one of these people. I introduced her to playing musical instruments and singing about 28 years ago. Nowadays, she is really good on the drums, saxophone, flute, and vocals. Playing music, and the learning process, helped her to get through her old issues and live a happy life. She, in turn, helped me to understand some of mine. We have both survived some pretty gnarly domestic meltdowns and come through shining. It was win/win. Unfortunately for this guy, his paranoia got the better of him, and he went into a downward spiral. Hit alcohol and drug cocktails which only made things worse. Deepest sympathies for the family of the victims. And again I say, why doesn't life imprisonment mean life imprisonment? What is with that?
I'm pretty sure because it happened during Easter 2020, it wasn't brought up much in mainstream media outlets as they were too busy covering COVID. 🙄 I can only find it in a couple of pay-walled media pages from that time but not much really publicised until the actual conviction.
It was so shocking that her brother was killed, too! The last thing you’d expect is that a killer would still be in the house of a person they murdered a day later. Her brother fought so hard, but that psycho was just too crazy for him. Thank God he left his son at home. What a horrible nightmare for the family. I hope they’ve been able to find some peace as they’ve moved beyond the trial. I’m impressed that the cops were so observant and smart about investigating around the apartment complex.
Generally speaking, psychologists are a good bunch. I went to school with many, served with several in a number of roles, sought counsel from a few and even dated/loved one or two in my life. There are a substantial number of psychologists that are drawn to study and practice in the field because they’re interested in their own abnormal psychology. Sounds like Luke was doing ok with his ‘issues’ until his mid to late 20’s which is a pivotal time in the area of mental health.
The thing is, these days Anyone can study and get a degree within this field. Wether they can sustain it as a profession and have actual qualifications for it, it will show while doing the work. Of course they have some basic level "pshycological screening" when starting the school, but at least the tests that we had, were so basic that it doesnt really provide a wholesome picture of youre own life or youre mental state. In one hand, it is scary, but on the other, those who just arent meant to do the work, they wont last long before they show red flags of any kind. Professionals in the mentalhealth field suffer from mentalhealth issues just as much as anyone else, maybe even more, due to the work they do. That shouldnt suprise anyone. But of course as a professional, they have all the right tools to improve their mental state. That kind of goes with what you said about them working in the field bc of the curiousity of their own mind/issues..
Both of my SIL were psychologists 🙄 They were pretty whacky in that area, but , otherwise normal. They are twins. Dealing with them one at a time, they are normal, put them together 😡... they don't make sense.

Hello from Perth, Western Australia. To the people who live here it does not feel that remote to the rest of the world. It makes travel easier when a big trip to most is a little trip to us 😜. ❤️ your work and the variety of places you cover 😊P.S. another interesting case from this side of the world is the Greenough family axe massacre, I was in the same class as Amara and can give you an interesting perspective of how a small country towns atmosphere completely changed overnight.
I have tears in my eyes right now. I don’t usually get emotional watching these crime videos, not to this level anyway. This poor woman did everything right in her life, she didn’t deserve this. Thinking about how her siblings immediately knew something was wrong is what hit me hard, I guess. Not all siblings are so close. I have three and if they didn’t hear from me at all they wouldn’t think twice about it. I do want to say I’m extremely impressed at how quickly and efficiently the detectives and police did their jobs.
I don't understand why perpetrators who are clearly guilty, in the face of glaring proof of guilt still say "it wasn't me!" other than 'magical thinking'... ie... "If I believe or don't believe it, that is the truth." I guess that's how people can believe their own lies. Delusions so grand they convince themselves they're innocent.

This case gave me actual goosebumps. As someone who is a mental health/disability support worker I understand the level of trust that people place in you. We're the same age too, I just don't understand how you can go from working in a sector which requires such levels of compassion and empathy, to brutally murdering your neighbor and her brother for your own selfish needs. Not to mention whilst nonchalantly flirting with a woman during the whole despicable ordeal. This case has me shook. I only discovered Coffeehouse Crimes a month or two ago, and I've been addicted ever since! I even watch your videos on my breaks at work because I can't get enough. I love how you present your cases and speak to the audience, you have truly created something amazing here. Keep up the good work!

Honestly in todays society I find if somebody is making an effort not to stand out or seems a little too nice then they're more suspicious. Unfortunately not all types of crazy are obvious to the eyes and its ones like him that make you have to lock your doors and trust few.
Ideally, we don't just take a look at a person, and judge them based upon clichéd stereotypes...
Psychopaths have no problem faking normal emotions & paying lip service to social norms to fit in. BTK was a pillar of his Church & took 15 years of killing to raise his kids. Ted Bundy worked for a DV helpline. John Wayne Gacey did a lot of local fund raising & charity work. Psych research found the favourite careers for those with psychopathic traits were, in order, Corporate CEO, medicine, law enforcement. Their ego & grandiosity means they love a role with power & status.

I still remember hearing about this when it happened. My sister and I went to primary school with him and he was in her class. My sister would even speak to him frequently when he was working at EB Games, apparently asking if she'd like to go get coffee and whatnot. All I can say is thank god she didn't take up those offers.

The number of horrendous crimes that happen like this every year is mind boggling! What is it that makes people believe that taking another human life is OK? Good God man! I’m kinder to my dogs than many people are to one another. There must be something we can teach people at a young age to prevent this from happening in the future.
It's amazing how many suspects think they can buy themselves more time by answering the victims texts or emails only for it to be their downfall. Everyone has their own way of phrasing things along with spelling, grammer and punctuation that is unique to them that their family and friends are familiar with. Any deviation from that sends up red flags.

Psychology has never been a hard science, but it's flooded with magical thinking and denial of reality and logic now days. A person being a psychologist shouldn't be correlated with anything other than the person has a paper that claims they have a psychology degree.
There's some truth about doctors being the worst at seeking help for themselves that also likely extends to people in healthcare in general. It's not that they don't think there's anything wrong, it's because they know something isn't right, but don't want to accept that.
All therapist are crazy. It takes one to know one.

Just a short word on psychologists: when you work in a hospital, it's common knowledge that many psych doctors are as crazy as their patients. So don't act shocked that a psych student is nuts. They often study psychology to try to figure out what is wrong with themselves.
I'm pretty sure Ted Bundy got his BA in Psychology.

All healthcare workers that end up in psychiatry/mental health & the few state ran facilities left here in the U.S. are always batty themselves. Even if you started completely sane, once working in that environment for so long it’s liable to rub off.

One of the craziest individuals I ever met was a college dropout who had been studying to be a psychologist. That individual made so many threats against me and others that I had to ghost one of my best friends just to cut ties with that person since they also knew them and did not seem to understand what the problem was.

I was brutally sexually assaulted by a young man and his friend who was 15 at the time,I was 33.the rapist mother works in the mental health suite that i tried to get help from,this woman who thinks her son is whitwr than white.has paid people to make my life hell,she has been in the mental health system for years and works with people that have had all sorts of mental health complaints like my own.the only difference is her son did what he did

As weird as it seems I've been diagnosed with a slew of things and Ive always been told I'd make a great psychologist or therapist. I'm an extreme empath and have alot of compassion for people who are "lost, broken, damaged". I have done alot of work on myself and looking at why I do/did certain things and how to change them. I'll admit i wasn't a very good person in my younger years but I have made every attempt at changing that and becoming a better human being. I do find the human mind a very fascinating enigma and enjoyed studying the psychology of a psychopath. Idk why I can't answer that but it's been somehow healing or therapeutic to do so....
Coincidentally, i used to work with a part-timer who was studying psychology on the side. He himself was an alright guy and was pretty good with people when it came to interacting, but he told me all his older brothers were either convicted felons, had ties with street gangs or both.
Taking into consideration the stories of other people as well, its like theres a certain pattern there. Almost as if many of those interested in the functionality of the human mind tend to hold criminal / menacing tendencies themselves.
Surveillance cameras in Australia and New Zealand are top tier,I'd walk around just posing everywhere I went.
As a kiwi I can testify they are very good, they've caught every crime I've ever committed 🤣

Depends, I was assaulted in New Zealand by a large group of young maori while waiting outside a bar for friends, woke up in hospital with a card with the polices number on it, remembering that it happened directly infront of a CCTV on a pole I rang them to ask if they could use the video as evidence so I could press charges. When I got to the police station in gisborne the officer I told rolled his eyes and told me "what were you doing in town? stay out of trouble" then said "bloody pakehas" under his breath as I walked out.
So it kinda depends on who you are as to whether the police take your case seriously here, they'll take a maori gang member with swastika tattoos on his face more seriously then a pakeha victim of assault.

Actually, he was not a psychologist, "A provisional psychologist" is someone who is still in training, so he was supervised by a fully registered psychologist. Hence "provisional registration" was revoked.

Horrible. I think we expect so-called medical professionals to be the best, most trustworthy people. Unfortunately, a sociopath might pass all the exams because he is intelligent…but studying and learning is separate from a person’s character.

Oh god, as soon as you showed the city and the generic Perth apartment block on the intro, I immediately knew where this is. The joys of living there half your life. Now I have to watch this video in excitement and fear on what's to come on a case I've never heard about until now!
I went to high school with Luke. I actually dated him for a little bit also! He was my first ever date, and my first kiss! So this came as a shock to me, and obviously everyone we went to school with. Luke and I went out only a couple of times, but I remember he used to call me too much, and when I was obviously losing interest, he would call me in the middle of the night crying and saying really angry stuff about his mum. It was odd. He always called me "kiddo".

I think you should get an extra 5 years for an unbelievable defense if you are convicted as a deterrent for people to not use these ridiculous defense stories. The REALLY smart ones are the ones who quit while they're ahead, or move states then commit their crimes in a different way as to throw any connection off. Most smart people understand if they're involved in criminal activity and don't stop, they will eventually get caught.

As a native west aussie, I'm surprised I had never heard of this case before. The other case you did covering WA - Cleo Smith's disappearance - was one that garnered national headlines. So I'm shocked at how this was somewhat unknown to a lot of folks here. If any fellow aussies could shed some light about the extent of this cases coverage in the media I'd like to hear it. It's quite the messed up situation to be sure and is quite ironic how someone who was studying in psychology turned out to become a psychological killer.
Also, you're right about Perth and how isolated we are from any neighbouring cities. There is a reason why Perth is considered the most isolated city in the world. The fact that the majority of the state is just outback adds to that isolation.

Unbelievably tragic! I lost my brother. I can't imagine losing both siblings. 💔 My sister and I hang on tighter to each other now more than ever. Prayers for that poor woman who is left without the pieces of herself. 🙏
Sadly I have noticed that some of the smartest people, book smart that is, are the most unable to live a normal type life. This guy was really messed up. Rest In Peace to the brother and sister and their families.

This is so frustrating, I hate murders without motive, it makes no sense and it feels like they died for nothing. Im proud of the brother who attacked the killer, but sadly lost his life. The poor sister left behind without siblings breaks my heart :'(

It's incredibly sad to me thinking how impossible it will seem for their family to attend any kind of grief counseling or therapy to help them deal with such a horrific event.

I wonder how he thought he could get away with this. Did he think he could just take over her apartment and no one would even miss her? Sure there are loners who lie dead in their apartment for years before being discovered, but he must have known that Maree had a rich social life and family that cared about her.

Agree .A lot of people that work as Counsellors are nutters. Usually they themselves have struggled with addiction or shitty childhoods and think they are experts 🙄

If you ever have the time, I suggest looking up the case of Luisa Cutting - she was a student at Radford University in Radford, VA. I’m only aware of this case, due to me being a former student there - this happened a few years after I graduated. I doubt you’d find enough information to do a proper video on it, unfortunately - due to Luisa being arrested willingly on site. Cheers. Keep making great interesting videos that brings light to these tragedy’s.

@@bop7901 I don’t know of many, the only one that I’ve seen covered that hits close to home is the shopping cart killer, recently. He apparently killed some people down in Harrisonburg, which is ironically where I lived for x-ray school 2 years ago.
This literally happened 2 minutes from our home it is still scarry to go by these apartments.

I am not sure why it was mentioned that the crime took place in Leonard St. When it reported onthe TV they said it was Hubert St. The paratments near Office Works. I believe the photos shown are also of those apartments.
Yes in Australia they don't make a huge deal of these type of crimes it will only get mentioned 24 hours in the news. I think they don't want copycat killers.
I remember when there 2as stabbing death at King George St the poor guy got something like 40 fatal stabbs. It was done by his friend over a few thousand dollars. The news hardly even covered it..

The thing I really like about Adrian is that there isn't a time where this feels like a comedy show or that he's focusing on trying to make his audience laugh - rather he is more about giving the facts and developing the story in a coherent way; to me that shows incredible respect to the victims and to those featured in these mini docs. They didn't ask to be part of the RUclips spotlight, and its easy to forget that even those who deserve sympathy and empathy often do not want the attention. I think Adrian deals with all his videos with a great amount of respect with a primary focus on information and facts...not comedy and sarcasm. It's why I prefer this channel over any other one on RUclips...which is something that wasn't true over a year ago. Love the upward trajectory and the beautiful editing, A! Keep it up!

You should cover The Wolf Family murders. It’s a still unsolved case from 1920, in Turtle Lake, North Dakota. It’s one of the worst crimes ever to take place in my home state.
You have such a straight forward yet gentle approach to all of this. These stories may be heartbreaking but the victim's stories need to be shared and they need to be remembered. My deepest condolences to the family.

I have noticed this as well, I actually had a friend that was studying psychology, he himself was struggling with pretty bad depression (and childhood trauma). He broke off our friendship rather abruptly, it's been a couple years, we had no contact but recently he has started to send me messages with fantasies about assaulting me. Needless to say I hope he never actually becomes a psychologist. Even if it's just 'fantasies' or kink it has definitely concerned me.

Thank you for sharing an unfamiliar case with us. It is so tragic that one self centred weirdo took the lives of two siblings who would never have harmed him. Their deaths must be so difficult for the family to process. May they RIP.
Every person I ever knew who studied Psychology had childhood issues that they were trying to understand. And, interestingly, they were all open to admitting that.
My best friend is one of these people. I introduced her to playing musical instruments and singing about 28 years ago. Nowadays, she is really good on the drums, saxophone, flute, and vocals. Playing music, and the learning process, helped her to get through her old issues and live a happy life. She, in turn, helped me to understand some of mine. We have both survived some pretty gnarly domestic meltdowns and come through shining. It was win/win.
Unfortunately for this guy, his paranoia got the better of him, and he went into a downward spiral. Hit alcohol and drug cocktails which only made things worse.
Deepest sympathies for the family of the victims.

I'm pretty sure because it happened during Easter 2020, it wasn't brought up much in mainstream media outlets as they were too busy covering COVID. 🙄 I can only find it in a couple of pay-walled media pages from that time but not much really publicised until the actual conviction.

It was so shocking that her brother was killed, too! The last thing you’d expect is that a killer would still be in the house of a person they murdered a day later. Her brother fought so hard, but that psycho was just too crazy for him. Thank God he left his son at home. What a horrible nightmare for the family. I hope they’ve been able to find some peace as they’ve moved beyond the trial. I’m impressed that the cops were so observant and smart about investigating around the apartment complex.

Generally speaking, psychologists are a good bunch. I went to school with many, served with several in a number of roles, sought counsel from a few and even dated/loved one or two in my life. There are a substantial number of psychologists that are drawn to study and practice in the field because they’re interested in their own abnormal psychology. Sounds like Luke was doing ok with his ‘issues’ until his mid to late 20’s which is a pivotal time in the area of mental health.
The thing is, these days Anyone can study and get a degree within this field. Wether they can sustain it as a profession and have actual qualifications for it, it will show while doing the work. Of course they have some basic level "pshycological screening" when starting the school, but at least the tests that we had, were so basic that it doesnt really provide a wholesome picture of youre own life or youre mental state. In one hand, it is scary, but on the other, those who just arent meant to do the work, they wont last long before they show red flags of any kind. Professionals in the mentalhealth field suffer from mentalhealth issues just as much as anyone else, maybe even more, due to the work they do. That shouldnt suprise anyone. But of course as a professional, they have all the right tools to improve their mental state. That kind of goes with what you said about them working in the field bc of the curiousity of their own mind/issues..

I have tears in my eyes right now. I don’t usually get emotional watching these crime videos, not to this level anyway. This poor woman did everything right in her life, she didn’t deserve this. Thinking about how her siblings immediately knew something was wrong is what hit me hard, I guess. Not all siblings are so close. I have three and if they didn’t hear from me at all they wouldn’t think twice about it.
I do want to say I’m extremely impressed at how quickly and efficiently the detectives and police did their jobs.
I have none.. it sucks too. Especially when parent gets old.

I don't understand why perpetrators who are clearly guilty, in the face of glaring proof of guilt still say "it wasn't me!" other than 'magical thinking'... ie... "If I believe or don't believe it, that is the truth." I guess that's how people can believe their own lies. Delusions so grand they convince themselves they're innocent.

The motive is pretty obvious, he was trying to rob her. He was going to interrogate her for her pin and possibly to sign over her property.
If that is the case , how in his right mind was he going to get away with it , its not like the lady was an agorophobe or a recluse , she quite the opposite in all regards.

@@sbstnpofadder Look up the story of Thomas and Jackie Hawks. Super, super tragic story of a couple who was robbed and murdered. They signed over their boat.
This case gave me actual goosebumps. As someone who is a mental health/disability support worker I understand the level of trust that people place in you. We're the same age too, I just don't understand how you can go from working in a sector which requires such levels of compassion and empathy, to brutally murdering your neighbor and her brother for your own selfish needs. Not to mention whilst nonchalantly flirting with a woman during the whole despicable ordeal. This case has me shook.
