I just recently bought two Newcomb record players from someone on Facebook marketplace for 20 dollars. They're both from the 1960's. One is a ED-10 and the other one is a ED-10C
Besides being overbuilt tanks, these had to be classroom cassette recorders. Built to LAST!! But, were they built 🤔 in America 🇺🇸?? Your friend, Jeff!!
WOW, the last time I saw that orange-red one was when I was in high school back in 75 they were used in the NYC public school system. There was one in the music class and one in history class .
Huh, must not be the only one who likes 5 O’Clock World by The Vogues :). Sunny by Bobby Hebb & House Of The Rising Sun by The Animals as well. It seems like everything went down hill as soon as the 90’s came around, music wasn’t as good, cars became blobs, everything just became extremely boring and mundane after that. This is basically why I have a major affinity for things from the 80’s and up. People can for example, try to convince me until they are blue in the face that modern vehicles are better (anything newer really), don’t buy that and not convinced. Only reason why they got a bad wrap is because of laziness and negligence. Not conforming to society’s BS norms, never can and will.
We had these types of machines in elementary school we used to use them with audio tapes with books analog is the best format along with vinyl digital music technology is not able to pick up the way tape does ruclips.net/video/s9KK7eDAD7I/видео.htmlsi=EGHy-vM-PImJ0GWw here is my reel to reel tape recorder transferred a CD to analog through the line input But anyway nice quality newcomb is the good brand 👍
Large and in charge!

Vintage stuff is still awesome and it's so much better than today's stuff.
Beautiful design. I love the colors. Those controls are just inviting you to play with them.
I’ve always loved the bright and wacky colors they made these! Great video!

Love those speakers!
Nice units! We had some of these in the library back in my school days.
They sounded very good. And they are indeed built like tanks. Cheers! 🍻
@42:30 When I was in school. Most of the classroom cassette recorders were either EIKI or Califones. I don't think they had any newcombs.

The Mystery tape. It was already there before you!
The vintage smell. The smell of old library books.
