Great to see the software used to work in beta. Me and at least a few other people according to the reports on kickstarter had to use laserbox, because creative space wouldn't find the printer (USB nor WIFI). Laserbox found it instantly, however. Just an FYI to people just recieving theirs and coming here looking for a solution.
So what I have seen in the group, is that you have to install Both software's to use the XCS software. 1st you connect it with laser Box then you can close laser Box and connect it through XCS. You only have to do that 1 time period after that you can use XCS moving forward. I believe they are going to fix that in a patch coming soon
@@MonkeyWoodworks Yet another sad instance, where RUclips and (in my case) the community on Kickstarter are more helpful than anything provided by the manufacturer.
Hi! I have tried cutting the coloured pvc sheets ( I think they’re called) and keep cutting through or them moving around, went through all of them with no success. Please help 😂
1. Make sure your baseplate is secure in the M1. You can do so by either using the provided screws (I dont like them), or you can just use painter tape in a few places securing the plate to the frame (my preferred method) 2. Make sure your using the xTool light grip mat. You have to stick it to the base plate so it doesn't move. 3. Perform a blade calibration. See the xTool support site on how to calibrate the blade of the M1.
Good questions. The capacity inside the M1 is 385mm x 300mm (15in x 11.75in). You can find more about it here: bit.ly/xTool_M1_10W_Engraver You need a way to either use in open area, vent outside, or use their indoor air purifier. I have heard however that even with the purifier it still smells a little because you are burning wood after all. Not sure if it's possible to fully eliminate that smell. Here is a link to xtool's M1 purifier. bit.ly/SmokePurifier
Hi, Can you please help? I have tried the Xtool guidance gave to get Lightburn to work with the M1 and it didn’t. Reached out to both Xtool and Lightburn and they tell me it is not compatible with the X1. Have you found a work or can you please recommend something othe thank the very limited XCS? Thank you
There are ways to do it but it's not a simple task. And its a multi-step process to send the job to the M1. I tried to do it but was never able to get it to work.
I do not have the RA2 but I do know that you have to have the correct cable to plug it into the M1 One end is round and the other end is a white rectangle. The round end plugs into the back of the M1 near the USB/power ports. The other end of course plugs into the RA2.
Hi mate, how long did you wait for your M1 after placing the order and how long did the shipping itself take? I ordered mine early february and haven't received a shipping confirmation yet.
My situation is a little unique. I did not order it, it was a beta testing group join. So I am guessing they had units set aside for beta testers to get the product out as soon as possible to streamline the software and knowledgebase. However, I could be totally wrong on that guess. I do not recall the timeframe but it only took about a month or so I believe. I know they are slowly rolling out orders and more and more people every day are posting they received theirs so keep your head up, they are shipping out!
I hear nail polosh works for etching glass with laser pecker. Not sure if it would with this enclosed machine. People also use a sandbox method to level items. Just fill a box with sand and sit your item on top in the sand to level it out
@@MonkeyWoodworks yea, with alcohol. Some sharpies maybe better than others , like the thick ones. And leggo brand? I forget. Because moly spray smells and is flammable when sprayed or wet. Alternatives are ceramark, they have ceramark for glass too; but sharpies for aluminum and maybe a clear nail polish for glass i think work. You can etch on painted aluminum or electroplated, but when is plain silver color aluminum it won't mark without using a marking agent. Stainless steel anneals without a marking agent though; atleast with the 10w. Hope it helps. Will know myself soon. Some people use dry erase markers but I hear it marks the aluminum a brownish color and the trick is trying to get a dark black anneal or marking
Gracias, como puedo trabajar en salon cerrado si los componentes son nosivos.? este problema l tengo para comprar las maquinas Y no me dan respuesta positiva Entiendo que el smoke es peligro gracias Rubend Miami fl
I would definitely reach out to xtool support. A work-around can be an inline exhaust fan installed at the end of (or middle of) your exhaust hose to pull the smoke out of your M1.
Well, the Cricut has a greater capacity than the M1. Plus, if your going to be doing a bunch of switching between engraving and vinyl, you will find quickly that its a pain to switch the modes back and fourth on the M1. Its easy to do but you will get tired of it. We kept our cricut (used it this weekend in fact) because if the greater capacity. Plus Design Space is still way ahead of the XCS software when it comes to designing vinyl cut jobs.
@@MonkeyWoodworks I was just thinking of making more space in my already crowded area, but I'd probably still need it. I'm a bit bummed that this won't cut clear acrylic. I have my heart set on doing things with acrylics.
I just got mine yesterday, I'll be setting it up this weekend...can't wait
Awesome!
I am so excited like many other I get mine this Monday so thank you once again for posting these videos.
Awesome! Hope you have as much fun with it as I am.
Thank you so much for the video love your channel ❤
Thanks for watching and thanks for stopping by!
This is the one I bought! Thank you posting!
Awesome! Best of luck in your M1 Journey!
I am excited right now, bought one of this deluxe on Sunday and it should be shipped off in June...looks like it's worth the wait
Awesome! It's alot of fun!
Thanks for this video series. Mine was delivered and still in the box. This will help me a lot.
You are very welcome! Still in the box? What are you waiting for!!! haha. Good luck and have fun!
Nice I’m still waiting for mine 🥂
You're not alone. I see many people chomping at the bit ready to get theirs as well. I think your going to love it when you do. Good Luck!

Have you tried engraving photos with the m1? I have seen the d1 do it. Just curious how the m1 does
I did! I actually JUST did this. I was planning on making my next video about this process.

Does this until need ventilation? What is the surface size for cutting?

Did anyone else get a ups tracking over a month ago and still no update on it
Yes, I am seeing people in the FB group state that they never received and update but all of a sudden it arrived out of nowhere with no notifications.
@@MonkeyWoodworks oh wow!! That's a bit annoying, but showing up like that would be like Christmas morning.
What's the difference between this machine and the Glowforge?
The biggest difference is the M1 is a Diode laser while the Glowforge is a CO2 laser.

And sharpies to anneal aluminum. Just wipe off with alcohol. Dry moly, etc is flammable and messy
That's a neat idea!
So they just color the aluminum with a sharpie before engraving then wipe off excess scribbles?
