Wow! I never would have thought about using dog treats like that. Awesome! Thanks for all you do and teach us. Blessings to you.
Much appreciated.
Glenn seems like such a treasure. Love when he pops up in these videos.
He is!
The knife and sheath were both interesting. Thanks for sharing.
You're welcome
Great idea with the packaged rawhide chewie's and that knife is very cool.
Thank You!
Being creative with what you have - definitely the pioneer spirit.
Thank You!
Ah yes, Another history lesson delivered with tongue planted firmly in cheek what brings a smile to my face😊.
Thank You!
Santee, Very cool looking knife sheath. I use to back wood bows with dog bone that worked great.. Thank you very much. You and your family have a beautiful and blessed weekend.
You're welcome and you too!
Excellent episode today, 2 Hat Santee! Have fun on the shoot and a great weekend! Cheers!
Thank You!
Such a Great Show !!!!!
Thank You!
HooWeeee!! That shore looks mighty easy to make, even for an ol' cowpoke like me! Thanks Santee for another Great video and Humor!
Thank You!
Lookin Purdy... It's what's Sanntee does best pew pew 😂
HAHA!
Pew Pew!
@@ritashuff7136 Yeehaw!
Hey Santee
Gotta say I'd never of thought of usin' dog rawhide for anything other than something to chew on in church, but I reckon it is multipurposable.
So glad to see Dan & Eddie. Hey to all y'all on the set.
Heya Rita
HAHA! Thanks.
Always learn something new !
I like the knife made out of the railroad tie I would have loved to seen how that was done. Thanks for another great video 🤠
You're welcome. Smitty gets it glowing red, then in a vice he twists the handle.
@@ArizonaGhostriders A certain amount of artistry is involved. I saw a guy at the Old Mystic Seaport many years ago take a piece of square metal stock and heat it on a forge, got it glowing red and beat it into a harpoon with a round shaft. Took him about 20 mintues to do it and he made it look easy. Using a dog treat is amazing!
Now a knife made out of a railroad tie would be interesting. Not sure how useful it would be, but it'd be interesting!
Thanks for bringin' in the sheaths. 😁
You're such a cut up
Santee. A man of literally many hats.
LOL!
Looks like a great crew! And tel "dapper" Dan that walking stick looked good.
I will
Years ago I used a big dog treat to back a red elm bow I made. I put it in the tub for a week or so to soften it up and made glue from unflavored gelatin. I mix the gelatin really thick, brushed it onto the bow, laid the rawhide on it to set up for a while. Then I clamped the bow to a bed rail and put it in the shed for a few weeks, this was in August. Man that rawhide was TOUGH. I had to use a bench grinder to trim it to fit. Tough stuff for sure.
Yes, it is tough stuff. Interesting about the glue!
Love these little crafting videos, always learn something new or get ideas for stuff I wanna try making.
Thank You!
For the leather working Merits badge when I was a scout and made a leather knife sheathe but this looks like even more fun !
It was kinda fun
Here in Argentina rawhide sheaths are really popular for knives but we have a different style where you fold it around the knife and sew it on the middle instead of the sideleaving an ear to catch on your faja or waistbelt
Yes, I've done a video on that style.
That’s so cool! Never thought you could use dog treats!
Just don't leave them along with the dogs.
I liked the Tacs the best.
Me too!
Awesome two hats!!! Enjoyed seeing this Santee!!
Thank You!
What a fun job you have. Excellent work on the sheath. (the 2nd one)
Thank You!
That’s pretty darn cool!
Thank You!
Did not know about the dog bone. That is so cool. Thank you Santee. :)
You are welcome, Jim.
Good project idea to work on thanks Santee!
You're welcome
If you knew how much I’ve spend on custom knife sheaths 🤦♂️ Thanks for the video!
I'm sure a lot
Always a pleasure to wake up to Arizona Ghostriders!!! Awesome content Santee and that sheath looks good!!!
Thank You!
@ArizonaGhostriders no problem buddy. See ya on down the trail🤠
Liked the sheath, think I may give it a try . Thanks for the Ghostrider fix
A lot of different things you can do with a sheath like that. You're welcome.
Love the rivets!!!
Thank You!
That was so COOL, Santee. If at first you don't succeed... Those people are characters. **That's a compliment. Thanks for sharing with us. 🤠👏👏🌞
You're very welcome!
German sheath-pard? Awesome project! Boredom was gnawing at me and now I know what to do.
Good
Great episode Santee, always enjoy learning from you all the time and thanks for sharing. Hope you can share some of the movies that you've done when they're all completed.
Me too!
OK I think I am all caught up on my Mr. Santee videos, very good work sir, need more now....
Thank You!
Always busy Santee! Good for you, good work with that knife sheath! " hair of your enemies " for stitches 😂
LOL!
Hi Marco
@AdaM Hi my friend! I hope you doing well
@@marcosaraiva9205 I'm good hope you are well too!!!
Good job never thought about raw hide thanks for the info
You're welcome
Cool! I’ll be sharing this one!
Thank You!
That's great! I see you've got some of the old gang back together on set. 😊
Many of us are there!
Great Episode, I normally sew rawhide with horse hair from a Stallion or Gelding, just collect it while cleaning the stall. Then I have friends with horses. Oh yes Hair from a Mare is too brittle.
Great info! Thanks.
@@ArizonaGhostriders You are most welcome, glad I could help
Another great episode!
Thank You!
Pretty good got to try this never thought of dog chews cheap and expendable thanks for idea
Thank You!
Awesome way to do it have a great week sir.
Thank You!
Love these videos, you’ve given me ideas for knife sheaths.
You're welcome!
That was a cool idea Santee great video 👍👍👍👍👍
🦅🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🦅
Thank You!
Very interesting and very cool.
Thank You!
Santee wears many hats. What a awesome idea with the dog chews!
Thanks.
I loved that you used the dawg's treats. In fact I know precisely where to scrounge some up. eh hehehehehe
HA!
I like the fire suppression in the lockup 😉🤠🆗👍
It is a building and fire codes say that it requires fire safety. Glad you like it!
And the award for best actor goes to Mrs Santee
It does!
Video opens with good ol' Johnny Two-hats!
HA!
Good stuff. But now I have to keep my dog away from my knife... Best of Days to You and All the Ghostriders.
HA! Yes. Thanks.
Your awesome and awesome video be safe out there ❤😎👍
Thank You!
Thanks again Santee & Co. I work as a delivery driver and keep dog treats in my vehicle . I would keep cat treats in my truck but most kitties runaway from me .
HAHA!
So I see you have turned Travis into a movie star. I watch his channel.
Yes! Nice fella
Great video!
Thank You!
Your so cool santee
Thank You!
Thanks for todays video. Never thought of dog toys as useful for other purposes. Now I know.
Be safe out there, and take it easy man.
Thank You!
Thanks Santee for another great video and good info. I love these crafting videos.
You're welcome, Eric.
Thanks for another great video! It sure would be alot of fun to hang around a western movie set for a day!
Although it can be monotonous, the trick for me is to watch the crew and see how they make the magic.
Pretty good artsy-craftsy leather work imparted. Not bad for a tender foot...... PS; Dirty Dan cleans up pretty good .
After making 10 holsters, 8 sheaths, and 3 belts I'm gonna forget you said "tender foot" 🤣
@@ArizonaGhostriders You forgot to say, "Well listen here Pilgrim".
I would get such dirty looks at my house using their rawhides for my projects lol
Yeah, I bet!
Dirty Dan cleans up so nice, I almost didnt recognize him. That was Dapper Dan right there. I dont know what looked better the sheath or the railroad spike knife. They looked awesome together.
The knife is better than my sheath, for sure. I might re-make it and go a little fancier...
Your awesome and awesome video
You rock!
Love the knife and sheath. I have a railroad spike knife too. Think I will try to make a sheath now too. You made it look easy. Great to see Dirty Dan, Glenn Gold, Eddie Perez, Bad Bob, Travis, Jaime, and a host of others. I think he spent his last dollar in the First Dollar Saloon. 🤔
Thanks. LOL!
I think I would rather hang out with that bunch than go to an Oscar party. Not that I would ever be invited to an Oscar party, but I've always found myself in the same pack as the outcasts anyway.
Outcasts can be fun.
Man, what a cool little project. Rawhide dog bones. Never thought o' that...
🤠
Next time, thin and lighten your dye with alcohol and brush it on like staining a gun stock rather than soaking the sheath. Also, your can rainproof the sheath using gunstock wax on the outside of the sheath. I'll suggest also using the gusset and riveting the top, point and belt loop (If you use one) to the sheath after stitching. (This will help keep your stitching tight) HTH.
Great tips! Thanks.
Personally I am more into early medieval/viking age but a lot of designs and techniques are transferable despite a 1000 year gap.
It all applies, right?
Thanks for the visit Santee!! I didn't know that you and "Cousin Eddie" from Christmas Vacation, both endorse the Ol' Roy line!! Good on ya!
HAA!
There is a band saw that is used in pipe and fab shops, you'll see em alot in shipyards, anyway, the worn out blades make awesome knives! That Spanish style lockback folder would've been very common in the old West, i can't think of the Spanish name but the French LeGoulle and Texas Toothpick are modeled off it but the Spanish one is huge! They kept it concealed in a sash around the waist. 😎👍🇺🇸🇺🇦
Aha! The Navaja! Huge, mean and deadly! A Spanish priest caught carrying one hidden in a red sash was put to death by Napoleon's French troops during the Peninsula War.
Very cool info!
I’m staying at the City Hotel in Columbia Ca this weekend. Our hotel is across the street from the house Gary Cooper walked out of and down the sidewalk in High Noon. If I could share a picture of the house I would.
My email address is in the About section. Would love it if you would share that
Wished i had seen this a whie back before i gave away the ones my dog didn't like. But for the price price, I may get some and do a sheath for my Buck knife, though.
Good!
Hair of your enemies? Santee turning into a member of the (possibly real) Glanton Gang
Did they do that? Well...then...OK!
Hey pard Santee, great vid as usual. Enjoy the movie set been on sets before. Keep edu-ma-cating us-Kid
Thank You!
@@ArizonaGhostriders welcome you rapscallion that you are.
Santee? Why that's ole Chief Two Hats, I'd recognize him anywhere! 😂🤣
Great video, I would have never thought to use a dog rawhide to make a knife sheath.
JT
HAHAH! Thanks.
I stitch it on the back, not on the edge. It's smaller and you don't have to worry about the knife cutting through stitches
Smart! I've done that with another sheath I made on the channel.
Very nice one, Santee. I think we've both shopped at the same "store."
Just something about a R.R. spike knife. I'm picturing Dirty Dan busting out a younger member of his gang from the clutches of Justice during that court room proceeding. Also, _almost 20??_ Get that young man some coarse stubble and a straight razor! 🤠
Right???
I've got a big chunk of rawhide that I've had for years but I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it. Maybe a knife sheath???? Cool video Santee!
If I did it over again I would go full Native American. Fringe, beads, paint...the works! One day...
@@ArizonaGhostriders you still have some dog chews left over!
Love the DIY stuff Santee! I cant wait to see your movie. When can you give us some more info?
Not sure, but I'll let you know.
Resources Santee resources! What's mountain man with out buffalo rawhide? This one has nearly a half hide. With two pieces about the size you need already stretched flat. Just a couple of weeks ago did a native american repair on the wrist of one of my stocks
I did one years ago on the stock of my shotgun. Worked great. Bovine, Bison, it all works fine!
Hey, Santee! How about a show about Bowie Knives? Like the ones by James Black!
ok!
Very awesome, interestingly informative and inspiring video, I really liked and enjoyed it.
great job and well done, I got a lot of inspiration for the old west/retrofuturism/Zelda and Backrooms inspired story/series I’m working on writing.
I’m definitely going to be adding rawhide knife sheaths to my story and world that my series takes place in.
The main weapons in my story’s world is old West/frontier and arctic gold rush era fire arms and fighting knives, there are also going to be some mythical ancient yet highly advanced weaponry in my story’s world as well.
Good! Thanks.
@@ArizonaGhostriders thanks and your welcome 💕😎😎❤️
I love your videos, but I was wondering, can you do one on rifle, saddle, rings, and what they were used for thanks 😊
Think I mentioned that in one of the rifles' videos...but I can add to it.
Hey! That’s Dwight Yoakam!!
It is!!
Hey Santee I really loves your crafting video. Would you mind making video on old camera or picture in the old west
Made one on photography. Will make more!
Cool idea- nice to see Travis, I subscribe to his channel also.
He's a pretty cool dude. Doesn't live that far away. Of course, he was on a horse that day.
Your double hat is where it's at.
HA! Well....gotta be prepared!
Dirty Dan looks rather dapper in that get up. 😉
YES
it’s made from repurposed dog bones? well if you ever tear it, Rex will gladly enjoy recycling it🤣
and the knife is definitely something that i could see being repurposed by someone shady, plus it fits in with what you said about using scrap iron in your blacksmith video
and the only welts you need come from the stunts that you do 😎
Yes!
Good lord Santee. I’m pretty sure you caught a living zombie? Dirty Dan cleaned up way to nice! Lol
Great stuff and thanks for the journey
I joke about Dirty Dan he looked great
Thank You!
@@ArizonaGhostriders watch those sheath treats! My dog loves them and will search you out. The natural ones are the way to go in a pinch and you can get bigger ones at the Tractor supply or Ace hardware Just a suggestion of course! Keep it up you fine folks
@@walterwaller9784 If I do this again, I will get bigger treats like you suggested and add some fringe or beads or something. It's just a wee bit boring for me as-is.
Glenn Gold is a class act! Dirty Dan doesn't look so dirty there and how can we watch you and the guys in the movies?
When the movie comes out. Give it about 6 months.
Wow dirty dan looken sharp!
He cleans up good
HA dog treats, bin stuck in front of me for years an I never sussed it, thank you santee, and a crackin vid too.
Thank You!
Clever crafting, great idea getting rawhide. Just keep the dogs away from your sheath now, lol.
LOL!
Santee! Can you do a video about judge Roy Bean?
I learned a bit about him reading "Lucky Luke" comics as a kid. Which I don't know if you ever heard about it, but it's very popular in Europe and actually pretty good lighthearted western in general.
I can!
@@ArizonaGhostriders That's great! Thank you. Looking forward to it!
Frankie Laine would be proud
Thank You!
Hickory nut dye is a much lighter shade and a bit on the red side. Also, you left it in for too long. Shorter the time the lighter the color with walnut dye.
Yeah. It affects rawide differently than tanned leather. Tanned leather treatement is much lighter in the same time frame. But, this is my first time dying rawhide. So, ya live ya learn. Thanks for the tip on the hickory!
What a bunch of cut ups!!!
HA!
Hi Santee could you make a video about horses and saddles in the west
Done both!
Ok thank you for telling me
