    It would be even BETTER if you did a whole video on setups choices. You have successfully pushed many of us into this with excitement but we are hitting a brick wall with tuning........lol. A complete tuning (or setup) video would really help us out. IOW nock heights, tiller, arrow weight & length and how that affects your crawl distance, tuning and noise levels. I see a lot of folks (me included) that have jumped in because of this video series (and thanks for that) but have questions about tuning. I think this is more advanced and skip over the basics that we need. Thanks

    Been hunting in the Allegahney Natl Forrest for many years, in the Tideoutte area. You are most likely in the 4 point area, and wish we were too. Good luck on your hunt this season..

      C S yes, you can with a small springy on the end of the accutune. Could also run the new Trad Vanes off the shelf from AAE

    I shoot a 51 pound bow with 600 grain arrows traveling at 185 feet per second. Of course my 32.5" draw helps with that. I would like to shoot those arrows will be collars which makes them extremely tough. But they don't come long enough for me. I shoot full length 34" Black Eagle vintage. They're great arrows but I don't have any choice anyway.

    Do you have any recommendations / tips on tiller adjustments for a fixed crawl shooter?

    • @TheCpnhgnlngct
      @TheCpnhgnlngct 5 лет назад +1

      I tend to run even tiller to slightly negative when running a crawl. I've started having the bowyer tiller my bolt down bows like this Wengerd 1/8" negative tiller.

    • @TheCpnhgnlngct
      @TheCpnhgnlngct 5 лет назад

      I have a few dozen Day 6. The Day 6 are incredibly tough arrows. By far the toughest 0.166 Family Arrow. This Gold Tip Classic XT in the .204 family is tougher than the 0.166 platform just by geometry in nature. I wouldn't hesitate to walk into the woods with either options, great quality arrows. I almost ran the Day6 this season, but the Trad Classics fit my goals for my tuning recipe better this year for Whitetail.

    Wondering about your arrow set up. You said the GPI and the point weight, but are there weighted inserts in there also? How much FOC are you looking at with current set up?

  • @andrewpropst787
    @andrewpropst787 5 лет назад +1

    Would you break down the arrow and components to get total weight?

    • @TheCpnhgnlngct
      @TheCpnhgnlngct 5 лет назад +1

      ~150 gn Tips / Broad Head
      ~14 Grains Feathers / Vanes
      ~10 grains nock
      ~90 grains halfsert + collar system
      ~390 Grains arrow shaft
      ~5 to10 in paint for cresting
      ~660 Grain total

    Accutune Adjustable Side Plate...is this a standard thread size for risers with side plunger holes?

      Yes, it runs the standard 5/16-24 thread, standard on all risers with plunger holes.

      We sell the accutune strike plate at www.thepusharchery.com - Trent has a few accutunes at his shop for the design work and building of the accutune compatible shelfs. Just gotta tell him you want your bow to be accutune compatible.

    I thought left was weak and right is stiff? Anyway cool video, are you using feather to nose?

    • @TheCpnhgnlngct
      @TheCpnhgnlngct 5 лет назад +1

      No sir. Right is Weak and Left is Stiff for a right handed archer. Switch that for a lefty.

    • @luger9857
      @luger9857 3 года назад +1

      If the arrow nock is left in flight its weak if the arrow (bare shaft) lands right of the fletched group its weak for right handed shooter

    What Riser are you using ?? And do you have Accutune in stock ??

  • @afarley337
    @afarley337 5 лет назад +2

    at the beginning of the video you mentioned that you had 500, 400 adn 340 arrows, but then you only referenced the tip weight in tuning, did you only shoot one size shaft in this tuning or did you shoot the different arrows against each other too?

    • @TheCpnhgnlngct
      @TheCpnhgnlngct 5 лет назад +3

      Great question. Technically, my tuning began a few weeks earlier. I had 500's and 400's at my disposal. I was planning on hunting with my shorter 40 lb limbs on this riser, but ended up deciding on the 64" 47 lb limbs for the season. The 500's and 400's were just a little too weak for this rig. So I knew a 340 was going to get me there. So upon receiving the 340's in the mail at the beginning of this video, I knew it was just going to be a tip weight and accutune exercise. (I could have got the 400's to work for me, but I refuse to cut arrows any more. The longer the arrow the better the sight picture and gaps for aiming) So 340's were the ticket at full length. Hope that answers your question.

    What would be the best arrow weight for a 50lbs recurve

  • @Vaden_lane
    @Vaden_lane 5 лет назад

    Is it possible to get a false reading of too stiff? My bareshafts are slightly weak but shooting straight up the middle so I went ahead and fletched them because I can’t really cut anything off my arrow due to my 31” draw. My bareshaft still shoots straight up the middle with the tail kicked about an 1” to the left but my fletched shafts are shooting 8” left consistently. The arrows are flying perfectly other than the POI. I’ve tried moving the accutune in and out in small incriments with very little change in impact. My arrows are 32” 250’s 100grain insert 300 grain point. I’ve tried points from 125 up to 300 and the 300’s bareshafted the best. I’ve never ran into the issue before so not sure what to do

    • @Duh5001
      @Duh5001 4 года назад

      10 to 12 grains per pound of draw. The heavier the arrow the more energy it can soak up from the limbs and will make the bow more quiet.
