Man that's so cool, the whole time during Derek's solo, Marcus is staring at Derek's hands, almost like he's taking it in....learning from his older peer, the master..
These kinda guys go off on stage together. Not one up man ship I think they just wanna make each other grin real big. Same thing with Derrick and Warren, Marcus and Billy Strings,on and on
Marcus is just amazing. He's a virtuoso; a player that serious guitarists envy and love, and a vocalist with passion, range, and incredible tone. And then there's Derek! Just... WOW!
I would say he is not. I think with virtuoso's there also needs to be a very unique and distinct style of playing that is personal to the guitarist. As good as marcus is, he lacks that. I am not taking anything away from him as a player of course hes great, but for me most of the time his playing is a little to sterile. Kind of like Joe Bonamassa.
I saw them play together in North Carolina it was an incredible show. The two of them just took turns shredding, absolutely blowing us away, almost having more fun than we were
This kid is 22yrs.old and he is playing with Derek Trucks. His Band opened some shows for TTB and he jammed with them. He is a awesome talent. You have to hear him sing to really appreciate he talent. Great voice to go with his guitar skills.
I saw these guys twice, the last time at the rabbit hole in Charlotte, NC, the place is small but an incredible performance from Marcus and his band that night, these guys after the show were cool enough to talk to
Whole band just smokes..from the bottom UP saw him open for Trucks, people were just unfolding there lawn chairs when you heard this voice come out of the PA,,WOW...had the people on there feet till he walked off the stage ..I wish him and his band all the best...thanx for keeping real music alive
Absolutely rippin'... Been seeing Derek since he was 15 and he's now one of the best on the planet...and definitely the best slide player on two feet by far. ...and Marcus, well, just watch the video. It speaks for itself...
CJSchecter96 I agree. He definitely has a lot of Warren in him both looks wise and stylistically. I guess a little of Derek too although Derek is more in his own world as far as tone and style which gives him his own voice on the guitar. Derek has that horn player phrasing too which is really unique. Both are great players. I'd kill for that kind of talent and God given ability...
Eddie Pienkowski agreed. Derek’s phrasing is on another level. Marcus is definitely closer to Warren’s playing but there are flashes of that DT brilliance in there. I wish I could’ve seen them together on this tour!
I hear so much Derek in Marcus’s playing. He’s the first player in a while that. Perks my ears. The video of him sitting in with the ttb from the other day doing the Derek and the dominoes tune, was amazing. It just seemed to fire up Derek, like Derek used to fire up warren and Clapton and everyone else he played with. And I love what I guess would be a little tribute to Freddie with that gibby.
mike tanz Derek, Duane, Dickie, and Warren are some of his biggest influences. He’s definitely got the southern rock blues sound down. Good to see a (hopefully) resurgence in this kind of music.
He’s playing through an Alessandro amp too... those are some of the best amps in the world like Dumble & Two Rock level for dynamics & phrasing which is why it’s so awesome to see a player like Trucks play through one
Thanks for the amp info, was wondering what it was. Was going to message my guitarist son, to see if he knew. That amp sound was coming in with distinction. Of course that is, with the master Derek...
I prefer his tone through the Super Reverb. He said he had to move away from it because it was getting lost in the mix with TTB. His tone definitely has more treble these days.
Roger Atkinson I think Marcus King will be something very very special. Derek Trucks is awesome, though I think in 20 years Marcus King might be the biggest blues artist. Incredible phrasing, highly articulate playing and his raspy falsetto is killer
josh cox yo DT is probably my favorite ever but if you think he's the goat you're in for a treat! Might be apples to oranges but check Paco de Lucia and hit me in the morning for the next dose!
I go all the way to the beginning with the ABB, and I haven't heard the guitar licks sound this hot since Duane & Dickey played this iive at the Filmore in 71' to be recorded for their live album Live At the Filmore East!! This kicks big time ass!!
Heather, thanks for sharing this video. I wish I could of seen this show but I was out of town for the Peach Music Festival. MKB opened the festival!!! I was on the rail for the show. I just put up a few videos I took from the show that you might enjoy.
Mark, Not to rain on anyone's parade but The Allmans at the time Hot 'Lanta came out were the original line up & they were NEVER a Southern Rock Band , It was Duane's band & his influences were Blues & R&B or at that time Soul music. Southern Rock sprang out of the Allmans & was product of the record company. Lots of great bands but not the Allmans, they were a pure Blues ,Rock & Soul Band . At least with Duane & Berry Oakley . Dickey was the Country & Jazz influence with that flair for Western Swing. This is not Southern Rock ..
There have been a lot of mediocre covers of this great ABB tune, but this was not one of them. Two of the best guitarists around right now and that drummer is aces. Marcus King has a really great band there.
17,000 views are coming from the 17,000 that had to wait in line outside while Marcus hit the stage. Doors opened late due to weather and didn’t push the time back!!! Still a killer show though.
At the 5:00 mark, the guy sitting next to me asks "what is this, some kind of Allman Brothers mashup?" He(the guy sitting next to me) complained during the DBT set and then got up and left disgusted during TTB. He was a grumpy feller.lol
Funny to see Derek being the "old guy"
Well said sir
And also not playing a slide!?
Soul is ageless
Marcus King is the shit!!! No one ever seems to mention his drummer though!!!! #InThePocket
I swear to god the drummer is almost stealing the show as much as Derek. That dude is an absolute beast
They’ve been playing together so long their chemistry is amazing
Truth! Machine gun rhythm and intuition.
I’ve seen Derek smile more in this video than I have in the last 10 years... says a lot about Marcus!
He’s only 23 years old🤔
22* born in '96
Johnny Winter got a couple out of him but yea I agree.
👍✌
❤
hats off to the drummer and bass player too hooking it together so well
stephen and jack are rad
Got to be one of the best rhythm sections around.
Never heard of Marcus until seeing him live at Crossroads this year. Like everyone else instantly became a big fan. The kid has that “Touch”✌️😍
Nelson Holt Did they release that show? Killer Well
And the torch is passed once again. Love this!
As much as he's done already I have a feeling Derrick just getting started. Least ways I hope so!
Holy Duane and Dickie this is incredible. Never seen King before.
Man that's so cool, the whole time during Derek's solo, Marcus is staring at Derek's hands, almost like he's taking it in....learning from his older peer, the master..

Marcus is just amazing. He's a virtuoso; a player that serious guitarists envy and love, and a vocalist with passion, range, and incredible tone. And then there's Derek! Just... WOW!
00xanawolf00 the word virtuoso gets thrown around way too much these days. This guy is no virtuoso.
Greenwood Mills um, yes he is
Jim White think of all the virtuosos over the course of history. This guy belongs nowhere near even the bottom of that list.
Derek is virtuso
I saw them play together in North Carolina it was an incredible show. The two of them just took turns shredding, absolutely blowing us away, almost having more fun than we were
Derek Trucks and Warren Haynes and Marcus King. It would be an awesome band. I like mega bands LOL
Keep the brothers alive in music and spirit
This kid is 22yrs.old and he is playing with Derek Trucks. His Band opened some shows for TTB and he jammed with them. He is a awesome talent. You have to hear him sing to really appreciate he talent. Great voice to go with his guitar skills.
I was there to see this show, and I will FOREVER be a Marcus King fan
The road goes on forever. Thanks to Duane and Dickey who started it all. 2021 will be the 50th anniversary of “At Fillmore East”, a timeless album.
I saw these guys twice, the last time at the rabbit hole in Charlotte, NC, the place is small but an incredible performance from Marcus and his band that night, these guys after the show were cool enough to talk to
My 2 favorite guitarist on the planet. This session is just so good.
Whole band just smokes..from the bottom UP saw him open for Trucks, people were just unfolding there lawn chairs when you heard this voice come out of the PA,,WOW...had the people on there feet till he walked off the stage ..I wish him and his band all the best...thanx for keeping real music alive
2 dynamic forces of nature colliding on stage to make beautiful music together!
epic
Beautiful drum set and awesome performance by the drummer.
Absolutely rippin'...
Been seeing Derek since he was 15 and he's now one of the best on the planet...and definitely the best slide player on two feet by far.
...and Marcus, well, just watch the video. It speaks for itself...
Eddie Pienkowski yeah I’m convinced Marcus is the love child of Warren Haynes and Derek
CJSchecter96
I agree. He definitely has a lot of Warren in him both looks wise and stylistically. I guess a little of Derek too although Derek is more in his own world as far as tone and style which gives him his own voice on the guitar. King will play slide also. He does have a Truck's touch, especially when he slides it down to the pick ups.
freaking kickass-two of the best guitarist together
Smokin. I love when Derek plays without a slide.
I've seen him playing without a slide a lot more recently, he can SHRED with or without one
Killer rhythm chops, too!
Best of my knowledge he plays in open E tuning weather he's playing slide or lead or rhythm.Amazing cat.
Me too! His style is a bit out there because he's a slide player mostly and also the open tuning.
So damned ridiculous! Saw these two for two nights at Red Rocks and couldn't be happier about it. They were on fire!
I hear so much Derek in Marcus’s playing. He’s the first player in a while that. Perks my ears. The video of him sitting in with the ttb from the other day doing the Derek and the dominoes tune, was amazing. Saw this live. Epic concert. Marcus King Band a wonderful surprise. I am a fan!
He’s playing through an Alessandro amp too... those are some of the best amps in the world like Dumble & Two Rock level for dynamics & phrasing which is why it’s so awesome to see a player like Trucks play through one

I prefer his tone through the Super Reverb. He said he had to move away from it because it was getting lost in the mix with TTB. His tone definitely has more treble these days.
Derek gets on your stage, and you automatically become the second-best guitarist.
Roger Atkinson I think Marcus King will be something very very special. Derek Trucks is awesome, though I think in 20 years Marcus King might be the biggest blues artist. Incredible phrasing, highly articulate playing and his raspy falsetto is killer
agree 100%. I love Derek and he is great for sure. And Marcus is already something very special! Damn!
@@craigosborne5206 I think Marcus is already very special. They are both unique, and gifted players.
I just saw him in Cincinnati, OH 2 nights ago. Marcus is an absolutely amazing musician all around. Derek is still the g.o.a.t. on guitar though.
josh cox yo DT is probably my favorite ever but if you think he's the goat you're in for a treat! Might be apples to oranges but check Paco de Lucia and hit me in the morning for the next dose!
WOW! Every time I see Dereck Trucks play, he gets better, Marcus King is bound for glory.
I was at this show and it was fantastic!
this is brilliant! Tons o' talent and respect for one another!
I would give my left nut for these two to make a super group and put out an album or two. I'll pray to the music gods and hope for the best🙏
Stage full of extremely talented musicians
Th god for the allman bros and the legacies so many years later
Unreal. As much as I love Marcus, the tone on Trucks....killer.
Drummer be killing it
Everybody on that stage is top tier for sure.
These two are totally shredding! Outrageous!
Marcus will never have to worry about buckle rash on his guitars.
Hahaha nice 😅
This is incredible, talented fellas indeed
hadn't heard of marcus...have now
I go all the way to the beginning with the ABB, and I haven't heard the guitar licks sound this hot since Duane & Dickey played this iive at the Filmore in 71' to be recorded for their live album Live At the Filmore East!! This kicks big time ass!!

tony robinson ha Nice Work! I planned to be productive but I’ve been watching your videos instead. :) Looks like a festival I might have to look into.
Good guitarists, good band.Southern rock is alive and well!
Mark, Not to rain on anyone's parade but The Allmans at the time Hot 'Lanta came out were the original line up & they were NEVER a Southern Rock Band , It was Duane's band & his influences were Blues & R&B or at that time Soul music. @@paullevine1813 TRUE !
A ALLMAN BRO'S fan since 1972.
Derek is THE current top dog in the world in regards to slide. In regards to guitar in my opinion. He's the best.
Wow !!! Saw him and Tedeschi Trucks band last month. His voice is amazing !!
It’s so great to see that in the US so many great artists aren’t to bad to play on what we call here ‘ local fair ‘sized stages …
I can see why Derek would be jamming with this band. Respect!
theese guys need to make an album. and tour it lets get the ball rolling guys
That's about as good as it gets to me. Marcus and Derek. I'd love to see them together!
There have been a lot of mediocre covers of this great ABB tune, but this was not one of them. Two of the best guitarists around right now and that drummer is aces. Marcus King has a really great band there.

Greatness from every angle! Bravo!!👌🏻👌🏻
Saw both bands live , Marcus king wow !!
Love this group! Great voice
Couldn't agree more Jay ! and
Derek is SkyDog reincarnated
I said that when he was 12
Wow. Derek Trucks playing anything but slide? Rare.
You can see derek influences in marcus’s playing two of the best there is.🤘
Huge fan of Trucks since he was about 10 or so but hats off to King for not smoking his elder off the stage. Just kidding we know there is no comp.
I would think this audience got their guitar fix.
You one lucky gal! You get all the good videos!
That kid is keepin up just fine! Awesome to watch.
At the 5:00 mark, the guy sitting next to me asks "what is this, some kind of Allman Brothers mashup?" He(the guy sitting next to me) complained during the DBT set and then got up and left disgusted during TTB. He was a grumpy feller.lol
They both touched my soul
Young bro is friggin amazing ,along with the King DT
Derek’s right hand technique is unbelievable. Maybe the best ever. Even Marcus is trying to figure out how the hell he does it.
Great musicianship. Needed organ on this one.
Well, that was excellent.
This is amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!
And music is still alive and well!!!
This musicians, Every day they envolve, they performance in Blues, Rock and Jazz allong these musical genres to live along 🎸🎸🥁🎹🎶
Keeping it alive! Love it
FANTASTIC!!
Good god help us! Hot damn!!!

I got vid of this too, but doesn't compare to yours. great job!
jhg1234 ha Thanks!! What a moment! And hard to hold still when you’re so dang excited!! 🤘🏼
Shiiiiiit!!!!
when your souls approach is a knockout punch 👊!
Fantastic session!
I did not know HOSS (Dan Blocker ) from Bonanza played guitar....😁
I've listened to about 10 songs now of Markus king's.. Not sure if I understood a single word? Is it just me or is this a new thing mumble rock
How good do you have to be for Trucks to show up and play with you?
He knows the lyrics!
Wooooow just wooooow
Marcus King 👑
my god Dereck Trucks is a freakin viking god
They did Duane and Dickie some serious justice on this cover!
Smokin
Now that's what im effin talkin bout. Yeah baby.
Kinda funny that Marcus is " picking that red guitar 🎸". Much love Dicky
total fucking amazement!
Super jam 🙏❤️🍀👌🎼🎶🎵✌️🎸🎤🥁🎹🍂
Like this very much.....
Smokin' ! Thanks for sharing this ! :-)
Todd Flowers my pleasure!!! ✌🏼
This is so fuckin good !! Only needed B .. Hindssssss
Warren Jr !!!
I'll second that. Warren's good but Marcus can really soar.
Karin Roth what ?? I m not agree, warren is a better singer than markus and Warren is awesome at slide. So no warren is better
Trucks are excited about King
This kid is very good
Smokin hot!
Fucking incredible....
real music
Marcus King and Derek Trucks…two people who make me feel like I’ve accomplished nothing at 30.
