    Never tight your motorcycle down with bed rails!!!one quick swirve with your truck ....bye bye bike....use bottom d rings ...that is what they are made for.....

    Those 2 screw holes under the rear slider are for the bed cover. There is a support bracket that goes there when the Toneau cover is installed.

    Ratchet straps are much more reliable than those tie downs. Another word of advise, whenever you're straps rub your fairing double up on painters masking tape so that on long trips it won't cause wear marks. Just FYI... great video, love Tacomas.

    The two holes or drill spots up front and center in the box is for the factory hard tonneau cover centering stud. I need to look but hoping I can install the same bar as you are underneath.

  • @Scottstunts
    @Scottstunts 6 лет назад

    The two hooks on the sides have always been sufficient for street bikes and dirt bikes on every single Toyota I’ve ever owned. The side hooks will actually keep the straps away from the fairing.

  • @EmpTy-kf2rq
    @EmpTy-kf2rq 7 лет назад +3

    It would be easier to just buy a wheel chock from Cycle Gear and you'll only need 2 straps mounted at each side of the rear of the bike pull it forward on the OEM stainless steel bed hooks.

    • @BrosFOURRSpeed

      No! Not even with a 250cc dirt bike, the long bed would have a better shot! But I've had two motorcycles in the bed fine, and two dirt bikes, tailgate down, but it works!

    The top railing above the tie down rail is for the factory tonneau cover. A ledge support mounts to the two center holes so the cover can rest on it.
    I know this cause I have one and am also disappointed that there's no third tie down rail.
    Also want to suggest you re enforce the tail gate if you load up your bike a lot. Would lengthen the life of it forsure.

  • @ebersolejoshua

    I love the fact that you are having so much fun with your new Tacoma. I really like the blue for your off road. That was going to be the colour of my new Tacoma until I was able to get my hands on a TRD Pro. I got the Barcelona red, still a great colour. Love what Toyota has done to the new version of the Tacoma.

    When you took off the existing screws to install the new rail weren't there blind nuts on the other side that fell off or did they stay in place? My 2019 has these blind nuts and looks like if I take these screws out, they'd fall off and I'd have a hard time putting them back on.

    • @BrosFOURRSpeed
      @BrosFOURRSpeed  5 лет назад

      It's been a while since I did this, but I don't remember having to take off any nuts from the back side, just the bolt itself.

    • @bobbyb7127
      @bobbyb7127 5 лет назад

      Thanks. I went and looked at mine again and it definitely has a nut and weird square washer thing, maybe it's tack welded on. I'll just have to be careful doing the first one to see how they are attached.

    • @BrosFOURRSpeed
      @BrosFOURRSpeed  5 лет назад +1

      I'm pretty sure they are welded on, I think I just took out the bolt, because it was very easy to do,

  • @xziang
    @xziang 7 лет назад

    Agree with the extra track mount on the front but I would rely on dodge D loops that youn can attach to the front bed bolts vs plastic cleats especially with a sport bike. Canyon dancers are nice and work well but i would be scared to secure it to the plastic cleats. For your dirt bikes it might work well though. Either way google or search on tacomaworld for bed bolt d loop modification. If you haul more than one bike may even want to consider doing the D loop trick on multiple bed bolts. D loops will cost less than 15.00 iirc.

  • @TheDonnellm
    @TheDonnellm 7 лет назад

    I'd readjust that tie down point if I were you. Any contact with the paint and those straps will take it right off. Also please get a wheel chock. The canyon dancers work well, but not well enough to keep a 400lb bike from shifting, and if the bars turn, the bike will fall. I learned that the hard way.

    Nice truck but bed it too short! I can load my Sportster in my Colorado Ext Cab and still raise the tailgate half way, because I take the cables that hold the tailgate level, but I take them, lift the up and over the latch mechanism bars that then hold the tailgate in the half way position. Between that and the four straps hooked to the steel loops at all four corners of the bed my bike does not budge at all!

    I hope you've figured it out by now, but you are using the handle bar straps (canyon dancers) incorrectly. The loops used for straps have to pass through the plastic end caps once more. That way the strap won't be damaging your plastics and the bike will be more stable.
