Well let’s see definitely a bad idea but when anyone is in additive addiction they aren’t thinking clearly. But I can say that half of the people who have kids shouldn’t have brought kids into this world. Women with 5 kids all different dad that’s just as bad. The malnutrition that goes with addiction puts the body in starvation mode, where when you start eating again, it holds onto fat. It’s really common to gain weight, in recovery, for that reason. If you end up needing certain psych meds for mental illness that went untreated, in active addiction, that also contributes. Same thing happened to me, as well as long term damage to my health. It is possible to get through it, and come to a place of physical and mental equilibrium, again. It might not end the chronic health problems, but it helps. I have seen people recover more completely than is supposed to be possible, before. I’ve seen quite a few people do better than predicted. I was in the sex industry too, and that wasn’t the problem, but I did run into a lot of substance use, randomly. In a different niche than I was in, one might not. I’m committed to the recovery field, now. Because recovery has done so much for me, I know it’s possible for others. I’ve always thought Orylan was an exceptional person, but the fact that she knows she can’t use anymore AND is so active and vocal in her recovery really proves it. That doesn’t mean that if she ever relapses, I’m wrong. Addiction is a chronic, relapsing disorder, by nature, though there are people who don’t, too. Where she is now, after the stage she was at in Substance Use Disorder recently is all the proof I need…never mind that she doesn’t have to prove anything to anybody. Recovery is doing something for your health, not a test you pass or fail. I’m so glad Orylan found the will to live. The world needs you, Orylan! Thanks for sharing some of your experience, so candidly. It will help people, and that’s 💯 !

My DOC was blues, but I view my friends’ addictions to alcohol as just as serious. One has been dying of cirrhosis, diagnosed at 32. The other was in an alcoholic coma. He only lived because his friend got worried about him, when he didn’t come back to work after lunch break. He had a fifth, for lunch. It’s definitely not what you do, but how you do it that determines whether or not you have a severe Substance Use Disorder. I’m trained in the diagnostic criteria now, and I wish I had stayed in treatment, at 15, instead of letting adults run me off, cause I wasn’t a “real “ addict. I’m glad Orylan knows…she had a heart attack. I don’t think anyone can tell her ain’t real enough!

I had no idea about this drug until last year when I saw a young guy riding a skateboard down hill on a street I was walking up. He literally had a tank and a balloon with him. It caught my attention as I saw him inhale from the balloon. He was so invested in inhaling as he literally kept picking up speed as he went down the street. He literally crashed hard into the back of a parked car towards the bottom of the hill. Two ladies tried to call an ambulance for him as he was bleeding from his forehead now. All he cared about was collecting his tank that flew across the street and lodged under another parked car. I saw him get the tank from underneath the car and the shear desperation in his face because it was damaged and he couldn’t keep using it. He literally took off before the ambulance arrived which arrived not long after. It was the craziest thing I ever saw. This guy was so hooked on it for sure.
Since then I have seen a few kids in parked and driving in cars grouped up and inhaling from balloons with these large tanks. I am still shocked at how crazy this is.

I don’t think talking to recovered addicts is useless especially not with something like this because I knew so many people who did this and none of us were aware it was addictive. Of course it's shallow but you don't feel that when you're 12 years old and she's coming to your choir and band concerts. Please, please, please don't bring kids into your mess. I’m an old school dead head and followed them around from 1994-2008. Unfortunately you’re right about the dead head scene they’d get medical grade stolen from the dentist offices or get tanks filled in philly or Boston of commercial grade. About 10 years ago this guy I knew from New York State this dude decided to take a 20 lb tank and open the valve and put a blanket over his head. The next morning his wife found him dead with the blanket still over his head cradling the tank. It’s not worth the 2 min high folks.

This is what's wrong with the country that a drug addict could get disability from a drug-induced nerve damage. When I got a spinal fusion from an accident. I work a full-time job and got denied three times for disability
I agree with you 100%. I have had 3 major back surgeries. The last one was a spinal fusion in 2007. I pre!applied for temporary disability (6 months) to help with bills during my recovery as I was unable to work at all, period! Spinal fusions are MAJOR surgeries. I was in the hospital for an entire week. Anterior and posterior spinal surgery fusion. Nightmare, worst pain I've ever had in my life. Guess what? I was DENIED temporary disability 🤬
If this chick thinks she can qualify for disability due to neuropathy she is WRONG! She will not be approved. If she takes the mentally disabled route she will probably be approved.
They wouldn't give her disability just for neuropathy. My mom has has debilitating neuropathy for the last 25 years. It took her 3 years and a lawyer to actually get disability. She was paralyzed from the waist down for 2 and a half years and they denied her twice.
This girl isnt on disability tho. Shes just saying she COULD get it. But I doubt they'd give it to her. I had to have a total knee replacement at 24 and spent many years not being able to walk. Disability told me that I was "healthy enough to switch careers"... Im a hairstylist 🤦♀️ This girl is a moron.
Edit to add, my mom had beri beri disease, the exact thing this girl was talking about with the B12 deficiency.

10:48 Neuropathy is NOT a disability nor is it a solid medical dianosis for disability. If you are able to perform ANY job, even sitting in a wheelchair as a greeter at Walmart with cancer you still won't qualify for disability. It's gotten that bad. You will need a lawyer, nearly a decade of consistant medical records to recieve disability. You will also need to be employed. She may qualify under mental disability though, that's easier. YIKES.

Oh man I hope so but my mom was a heroine addict and got clean and got me back when I was 4. It was a wild ride let me tell you. She was sober but had no idea how to parent herself or someone else. I sadly disagree, she's way too fresh off her drug to properly raise another.

Of course I hope so too but often the trauma is simply handed down to the child because the mother and or father did not process and deal with their shit. She’s definitely not over being sexually assaulted. As a person who has went through something similar you don’t just get over something like that or say I don’t care I’m so desensitized to sex.
It will take her a while to process this but it will probably happen after she has her baby. Especially if she gives birth to a girl.
When she got sexually assaulted she had so many other things happening like loosing her ability to walk and being hospitalized etc.
When you’re in survival mode that is all your brain is going to focus on is just staying alive. It won’t have time to properly process what happened.
So she literally was fighting for her life shortly after getting sexually assaulted then she regains her body and meets a new guy then gets pregnant so there wasn’t even gap in time for her to process everything.
She’s a strong individual no doubt but she still has a ways to go when it comes to healing.

Addictions can be painful folks and also deadly. I'm addicted to multiple things in I hate myself for being so weak so I am sensitive to people who struggle with addictions. I haven't seen her in a long time she looks completely different.
