Samsung needs to do a massive overhaul and redesign of their laptops. They charge macbook level prices but lack features or the design. They look like mid 2010s laptops. Lack of haptic touch pads. Downwards facing speakers for their larger pro and ultra models. Nowhere near a 95whr battery for the ultra. It needs a lot of work
yeah indeed. I would love to get a samsung laptop since I like their tablets and phones as well. But design wise they look a little simple (not in the minimalist-cool-sleek-way) ... a little acer like lol ...
@andrewmarcdavid is there's only 1 laptop you will carry and use for a long time. What is it? What's the brand or specific model. You review and try out a lot of laptop computers so you better know about this.
I hope you can mention the warranty coast as well, because that’s included. I guess this is essential when buying any device, thank you for your videos, I know you’re doing a hard work!
Galaxy Book 4 Edge is top tier love this thing. Was debating getting the Book 5 Pro and giving my son the Book 4 Edge but right now I think I'm satying with the Book 4 edge it's perfect
I wanted to get the Pro 5 for Samsung's ecosystem since I have a Samsung phone and a Galaxy watch 7. Today I ended up getting the HP Omnibook Ultra Flippity Flip 14 to replace my six-year-old Lenovo 530S. Thanks to your review Andrew. It is just gorgeous with that Atmospheric Blue color, except the fingerprint sensor. Same price, double the ram, 32 instead of just 16GB, haptic trackpad, better design and I didn't lose anything related to the ecosystem because I can still access my phone's content from the laptop and transfer files back and forth. It has better value for money. Samsung didn't deliver, I wanted a 2 in 1, 14 inch laptop and it is only available in 16 inch. The Pro 5 isn't even available here yet in Europe, only in a few European countries. I am happy with the purchase, was a perfect decision. But for some reason, I still can't connect it to the monitor via USB-C cable, even though the monitor has a Thunderbolt port.
I’ve been using the 14 inch Galaxy Book4 Pro (Core Ultra 7 155H, 16 GB RAM) since April 2024 and I was really surprised to see that the 14 inch Galaxy Book5 Pro seems to be exactly the same laptop in exactly the same housing body in exactly the same moonstone gray color scheme with exactly the same AMOLED screen. It doesn’t even seem that the performance from the Lunar Lake chips makes this a compelling buy whatsoever especially benchmarked with other competitors in the Windows Market. Minus a few iterative updates (Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, Lunar Lake Processor) this is basically the same model as last year's Galaxy Book4 Pro. It almost feels like the Samsung Laptop Team is purposely trying to lose the innovation battle with their Windows competition (Asus, Lenovo, Dell, etc.).
Lol here they charge 1900 euros for the 14 inch model, NO 32GB OPTION, Core Ultra 256V, what a disaster. Btw Andrew, please be more critical this year because Windows laptop manufacturers get away with a lot of crap so easily. I got the Vivobook S 14 yesterday with the CU 258V and the lid wasnt even flush when closed, there was a gap because I thnik the bottom chassis was bent in a smile shape for som reason (packaging was fine btw), keyboard really mushy and no feedback, touchpad was the worst and battery life seemed really bad when I lost 11% in half an hour on youtube.. I learned my lesson: never buy below 'premium' tier of windows laptop manufacturers... AND FOR THE LOVE OF GOD IF WE DON'T GET HAPTIC TRACKPADS ON PREMIUM DEVICES STARTING THIS YEAR, PLEASE JUST GIVE THE LAPTOPS A MAJOR PENALTY IN REVIEWS - Thanks for listening to my rant as always!
Very well said! Also, if you want a premium laptop for light tasks like web/doc browsing, you cannot go wrong with HP and Dell. Asus has major quality control issues.
Same feeling. I saw plenty of vivobook in good sights. But when I read comment on laptops forums they really go hard on vivobook and even on zenbook. So I stick to my macbook m1 because I don't want to feel that I bought worst laptop even if on paper it's "better" and wait for new premium windows laptops.
@@galekeoma7276 sadly I think nowadays both Dell and HP have lost their touch as well, maybe the XPS is fine but the design and price is questionable. The effort of bringing these Samsung Galaxy Book5 Pro and Book5 360 laptops personally by Andrew is greatly appreciated, it is very difficult to find any review of these models to have at hand their analysis and final conclusions regarding their features and performance in real life, when reading the comments the Samsung brand should innovate more in this sector they have focused more on their usual competition that they have neglected a little in the development of laptops with competitive features depending on the model, we will see how the performance is when done in a very professional way by Andrew, greetings
Battery longevity is always a welcomed positivity. If Samsung can pull that off it will be a great thing. Yes Samsung is trying to copy Apple as it's quite obvious. We will have to wait and see what happens when Andrew gets this into the studio for testing. Great video as always my friend! 👍😁
I wish they'd release a *Galaxy Book5 Ultra 360* complete with a more robust design with room for a higher wattage GPU, more RAM, Thunderbolt 5, S-Pen, etc. I can't really respect their lineup until they make an attempt at merging an Ultra with a 360/ pen-enabled device. Real creators don't fall into one camp or the other and that should be obvious. Right now it's giving 'no balls.' A merge like that is how you actually compete with Apple and Microsoft.
Speaking of the X9, when will you do the reviews of the 14 and 15 inch? They look amazing. And I am curious about the engine hub. And also interested to see how the 15 inch non-sensel trackpad performs.
Nice to see you agree with me about the poorly designed numpad. As I always say either redesign it or remove it as its present layout it is functionally useless. Geeat preview review.
Hi. I realy like your Reviews. But I have to say, that you always forget one point on the 360s from Samsung and that is the S Pen. As long as I‘m aware of, only Samsung uses Wacom Emr technology right now. Apple was celebrated the the Apple Pencil now has a hover function, which Wacom Emr has ever since. I know, this is not important for everyone and its not important if you just taking Notes, but for everyone who's drawing its realy crucial and I love that Samsung uses Emr. I had a Yoga 7 which was a beautiful device, but the screendoor effect was realy anoying and I thought that it‘s a joke when I got it. Now I saw the Asus flow Z 2025 and it comes close, but I think it doesn‘ has an oled. Its so frustating, but if I spend over 2000,- I don‘t like to compromise much. I hope that someone builds a creator convertible with those new Amd Cpus. If anyone has an Idea, I would be very grateful. Keep up the excelent work, best whishes from Germany. Tim.
It actually amazes me how Samsung can't manage to make something decent... I'm talking specifically about their laptops. They have almost everything, from astonishing displays, memory, image sensors, batteries and God knows what else they manufacture and put in their own laptops. Maybe they are not as focussed as Apple or any other brands that are strongly dependent on the hardware & services sells, instead they focus on selling this parts, I don't know. All I am trying to say is, big company such as Samsung could compete well imo with brands like Lenovo, HP, Dell I think, maybe not Apple, because Apple is a bit unique there, but yeah... It just sad to see that the're not even seem to be able to put some effort in to the design, since this is the first thing people notice.
i completly hate MacBook touchpads, I am glad samsung are staying with those clicky pads to be honest other than that, no 13 inch model with LUNAR LAKE ? that's a shame, samsung should be offering it they realy should start releasing well thoughts products (and i am saying that as a user that is pretty well implemented in the ecosystem, which doesn't even work so flawlessly, but it still has some good things to it)
Maybe I'm missing something but you said it yourself: media consumption is better on a 16:9 display than 16:10. Yet no manufacturer seems to be using that ratio anymore, while users are consuming more media on their notebooks than ever. It's very frustrating. I'll be buying a new notebook this year and I'll be restricted to a 16:9 display. It must be more profitable for the manufacturers, but that's not my concern. Great presentation, as always!
I agree that Samsung laptops are a disappointment. But the haptic touchpad.... It is so annoying on MacBook, you have to press or press harder and then wait for the feedback.
What you just did this review a couple weeks ago nothing new is it? Why did Samsung make this announcement when they already were selling the same laptop like a month ago? I thought this laptops had the Arabic processor but they have the same lunar lake that were announced last year? Pff
That's not true the one you just review and had a negative conclusion on it by the way was also lunar lake and was the 360 version, so now you're basically reviewing the same product, last year video and this one, I don't understand why did Samson do this at least they could have put the arrow lake processor which is a little faster than lunar laka, don't?@@andrewmarcdavid
Sounds like the book 4 pro 360 with minimal changes other than a higher price tag. Does this one overheat? Screen cracking? Same really bad keyboard? Purposely dumb down the OLED display so it looks like crap? No point to have that much power with the CPU if it thermal throttles 90% of the time. Same old garbage warranty and customer service. Save your money and buy something else. Asus, Lenovo, Dell, LG gram and yes, even Acer has better products than this over priced Samsung Garbage.
