In my opinion, Piece of Mind is not only the best Iron Maiden album, it is generally my favorite album. And yes, Senjutsu is just fantastic, what an achievement after so many years. 🤘
One of the more particular rankings of the Maiden albums I've seen thus far. But hey, then again we all hear those albums through our own ears and experience them in a different way. 😉🤘
Somewhat crazy list, just goes to show how diverse this band is and how that's reflected in such different ways by fans' personal tastes! Personally right now I rank Senjutsu in 8th, after the 7 first, untouchable classics. My mood dictates a lot which music I like best in any given time. Very cool video, cheers!
Hi Brendon! New to your channel so that's why I'm commenting on old stuff. I really liked your ranking. I've always been kind of suspicious of people doing their OWN rankings and getting to the same albums placed in the same positions as ever. I think with people who really put attention, time and effort into music, like yourself, It's kind of impossible not to connect to what the music really makes them feel instead of focusing on what their opinion SHOULD be in order to be considered a "true metalhead" (true rocker,/true music fan, etc.) . You got my respect!
Thanks man, I appreciate that! I don’t believe in being fake and following what people think I should like. I’ve got my own faves for my own reasons. That’s what I like about music. It hits us all differently.
You're probably the only person on utube that ranks Maiden albums who has No prayer for the Dying ranked in the top 5!That's awesome! It's one of my favorites!
17. Virtual XI 16. The Final Frontier 15. Fear Of The Dark 14. No Prayer For The Dying 13. The X Factor 12. Senjutsu 11. The Book Of Souls 10. Dance Of Death 9. Brave New World 8. A Matter Of Life Or Death 7. Iron Maiden 6. Killers 5. The Number Of The Beast 4. Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son 3. Somewhere In Time 2. Piece Of Mind 1. Powerslave I rank my albums by the consistency of superb tracks per album ... the exceptions being Powerslave and Piece Of Mind, a couple of merely-good songs surrounded by several world-beaters--having said that, I adore every tune on Somewhere In Time and Seventh Son. Senjutsu already ranks as number 12 as I think that it has more tracks, six of 'em, that I'd rank as very good than the ones ranked lower ... four or five great tracks each, the rest being just not as great. My ten fave tunes from the bottom five: Futurereal, The Clansman, El Dorado, Tailgunner, Bring Your Daughter ..., Holy Smoke, Fear Of The Dark, The Sign Of The Cross, Man On The Edge and Virus, the single.
I’m 47…guess we came into it about the same time. I’ve found that timing has a lot to do with which albums are our favorites. Often times they may not be the best by the band but if that’s the album we first bought it will often be the one that holds that special place in our heart. I have a lot of favorites that aren’t the “big” or “popular” albums.
Hey Brendon, glad to see your channel putting up some numbers. I enjoyed this ranking even with it being close to a shuffle from a “typical” Maiden countdown. Either way, you’re correct about which 2 records are their best 😉. As far as your order, while there are some surprises, I’m not very surprised by your preference of No Prayer and FotD over 7th son for example. Those two records are pretty much as straight up hard rock or even “hair metal” sounding as Maiden would get and I know you’re a fan of that sound. It helps cement this as *your* Maiden countdown. I’m happy to see the Final Frontier climb up this list a bit compared to others as it holds a special place for me being the first album to come out during my fandom of the band. Thanks for the video!
Hi Alec! Yes it seems these recent Maiden videos have helped spike my numbers which was nice. Certainly my background and introduction to a band at a particular time will skew things. But that’s what makes these lists so much fun. It’s that different perspective that everyone brings to it.
What a great ranking! Although mine is different, it is so fresh to see a ranking that is not predictable. Here is my ranking. 1. Dance of Death 2. Somewhere in Time 3. Seventh Son of a Seventh Son 4. Piece of Mind 5. X Factor 6. A Matter of Life and Death 7. The Final Frontier 8. Number of the Beast 9. Killers 10. Brave New World 11. Senjutsu 12. Powerslave 13. Book of Souls 14. Iron Maiden 15. Virtual XI 16. No Prayer for the Dying 17. Fear of the Dark
I’m glad you enjoyed the differences in my list. You list has a lot of unexpected placements too like your #1. Nice to see a later era album rank that high.
@@BrendonSnyder Power slave at 12, The final frontier, at 7, are you kidding me? Oh well, that's the beauty Of music I guess. I would guess at your age being 30-ish?
It’s so refreshing seeing someone rank No Prayer For The Dying so highly, especially after seeing so many people criticize it for so many years. It’s personally my favorite album, it’s got a few good “headbanger” songs. Sure it’s not as in-depth and epic as most of Maiden’s iconic songs, but they’re still great to listen to. “Fates Warning”, “Run Silent Run Deep”, “Bring Your Daughter To The Slaughter” are my favorites.
Great review. Wasted years is also one of my favorites. Somewhere in time and powerslave are my favorites. Senjutsu is pretty darn good...hell on earth and time machine are solid
Very controversial but bold rankings there. I wouldn't put TNOTB and TBOS so low or TXF, TFF, NPFTD or FOTD so high but I do enjoy all their albums. Good video. 🤘
I was waiting for that one ! Thank you. I wasn't paying too much attention on Piece Of Mind at first, but it's been growing on me since then ; it's probably in my top 5, with Killers, Powerslave, Somewhere In Time and Dance Of Death. And I agree with you on Number Of The Beast : always high in the lists of heavy metal masterpieces, but it just doesn't click with me. Your video makes me want to put No Prayer For The Dying back on and reconsider it :-)
Hi Marc! Well that’s half the fun of these lists is to see what others rate as their faves and then re-evaluate our own ideas about an album. I hope No Prayer turns out to be better than you remembered.
When you put SSoaSS as low as you did I realized that you were not taking prisoners! And I gasped when I realized that NPFtD hadn’t been mentioned yet so close to the end. Mad respect to you, well reasoned picks!
17 - Virtual XI 16 - The Final Frontier 15 - Dance Of Death 14 - A Matter of Life and Death 13 - Book Of Souls 12 - Senjutsu 11 - Brave New World 10 - Fear Of The Dark 09 - No Prayer For The Dying 08 - The X Factor 07 - Iron Maiden 06 - The Number Of The Beast 05 - Somewhere In Time 04 - Seventh Son of the Seven S 03 - Powerslave 02 - Piece Of Mind 01 - Killers
Interestingly I’ve been seeing X-Factor in the middle spot on a lot of these rankings and I wouldn’t have expected it. Nice to see at least that album getting some love as I thought it was really good.
I love "A Matter of Life and Death", got some great tunes. #15? Much higher for me. Somewhere in Time is my #1 for sure. Struggling to get into the new album...songs are way too long for me. Love the channel.
I agree I think A Matter Of Life and Death has some good tunes but the mix just muddies it up for me. But I don’t dislike the album. Maiden doesn’t make bad albums.
Good Ranking there are some underrated Iron Maiden albums very high but for me Brave New World, The Book of Souls, The Number of the Beast and Killers are some of my Favourite Iron Maiden albums of course all rankings and likes are respectable.
This was a very enjoyable watch, it was great fun hearing your album ranking video's. I was very surprised that you ranked Book of Souls second last. You had a very interesting and surprising ranking. Your top 3 albums are identical to my three fave Maiden albums. Piece of mind is amazing !
A lot of people have said as much so I may have to watch some other rankings to see how mine is different. I know I don’t follow the norm with Number and Seventh Son. For me I just ranked based on my personal preference. Cool to see we matched in the top 3 at least!
It is so so hard. My list after two hours of moving vinyl records on the floor: 1) brave new world (maybe due to personal nostalgia) 2) seventh son 3) somewhere in time 4) x-factor 5) matter of life and death 6) piece of mind 7) iron maiden 8) dance of death 9)senjutsu 10)book of souls 11) the number of the beast 12) powerslave 13)killers 14) final frontier 15)no prayer for the dying 16) fear of the dark 17) virtual xi Shit i feel like a traitor to the last ten albums which i absolutely love.
IMO they’re all really good albums. There are no bad Maiden albums. So ranking them was really hard because I wanted every album in the Top 5. In the end I had to slit hairs just to get them to fall into some kind of position. But it was a fun exercise. And it made me re-evaluate several albums as well.
I've been a fan from before they released their first album. Yes, I own the original Soundhouse Tapes. I dropped off for a few years after 7th Son but have now gotten back into them. During lockdown, whist working at home, I played all of the albums in chronological order and had a couple of the best days at work on ages.
I was shocked by your insane list, but after reading all comments I felt relieved, it's you that are crazy and I'm perfectly normal 😂 I'm totally cool with your top 3 though. Anyway...you've just earned a new sub! 😉👌🏻
Hi Ben thanks for joining in the fun! Yes there are a lot of people who have disagreed with me. But everyone has their favorites and I think it just has to do with when you discover a band. Still, Maiden doesn’t make bad albums. So even if your favorites didn’t rank high in my list, it’s not that I don’t like them. It’s just that some of the albums had to fall at the end…haha! Hopefully you’ll find some other content on my channel that we align more with.
@@BrendonSnyder Totally agree, each Maiden album has in any way 2/3 solid songs, the others usually contain cool riffs, epic solos and magic melodies, even when I dislike the track in its entireness. I'm used to rank a band discography not only considering my past/current emotions and my music tastes, but also looking at the whole album. I mean the entire structure, lyrics, tracklist, atmosphere, etc.. For instance "Powerslave", "Number of the Beast" and "Somewhere in Time" are almost perfect imho. On the contrary "Peace of mind" is one step below, due to last 3 songs that are nothing special...even if "Die with your boots on" is probably in my overall top 5. 😍 The new album is not bad 🤘🏻 a little slow..but has its (Japanese) reason. Sounds like a unique entire infinite song. Cheers from Italy 🇮🇹
@@BrendonSnyder yeah definitely, I’m amazed at how many of these lists have X factor at the bottom, I think a lot of fans don’t really give it a chance , I think lord of the flies is one of the best singles they have ever released
Very interesting and against the grain ranking. I've never been a huge Maiden fan and have neve listened to any album past Seventh Son, (I'm an old guy, lol) but Somewhere in Time was always my favorite of the ones I knew.
Here's my iron maiden album tier list, my favourite band in the whole, 17: X Factor 16: Virtual XI 15: NPFTD 14: Iron Maiden 13: Final Frontier 12: The Book of Souls 11: Fear Of The Dark 10: Number of the beast 9: Powerslave 8: Brave new world 7: Killers 6: Senjustu 5: Dance of Death 4: Piece of mind 3: A Matter Of Life and Death 2: Seventh Son of a Seventh Son 1: Somewhere in time
First Brendon thanks very much for compiling your own ranking of Iron maiden albums very much appreciated as a huge Iron maiden fan who has seen them 8 times every iron maiden fan will put together their own ranking in different ways just like myself as you say every one to their own way as much as myself but the absolute number 1 ranking is Iron maiden have stood the test of time as one brilliant metal band 🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟👍👍👋👋
Can't really go wrong with Iron Maiden; Killers is my usual go to but when Piece of Mind came out was the summer of 1983 and me and my buddies played that record/cassette on constant replay. Able to see them live five times: Number of the Beast, Piece of Mind, Powerslave, Somewhere in Time, Book of Souls tours. One of the best bands ever, imo. You're spot on, Brendon as really think the Blaze-era Maiden doesn't get the respect it should. Great rankings and post. 💯
@@BrendonSnyder Number of the Beast was stripped down as think Powerslave was probably the best of all. The cool thing is kind of a nice reminder of that tour was Live After Death album. Real close to set list of the Powerslave tour. Book of Souls tour was a confirmation of Maiden's career badassness (if even a word, lol).
It's amazing how two people can both like a band and have 'completely' different taste in songs. I guess that's one of the reasons that Iron Maiden appeals to so many people. There is no way my top ten would include 'no pray for the dying' or 'virtual X' but I agree with your top 3. I'm loving the new album and again we differ, two of your fav tracks on the album are the two I like the least, for me Darkest Hour, The Parchment & Hell On Earth are my favs - so far ( but that may change ).
Well that’s true and as they say people hear things differently. But I think it has more to do with when someone got into a band. The first new album released when I learned of the band was 1992’s No Prayer For The Dying. I didn’t buy it because it was Iron Maiden, I bought it because I liked the music. So even though other old fans didn’t like it, I did. Coming into the band in the 90’s and on the last Bruce album meant I was going to be more open to Blaze joining. But to clarify, Virtual XI is not in my Top 10, it’s in last place at #17.
@@BrendonSnyder I came into Maiden in the 80s, for me the only 90s album I liked was Fear of the Dark, although I think I'm a little unique in that I've never liked that specific song!
my iron maiden albums ranked: 1 - killers 2 - the number of the beast 3 - somewhere in time 4 - powerslave 5 - seventh son of a seventh son 6 - iron maiden 7 - piece of mind
Very interesting ranking. I didn't expect this at all and I'm happy we are so different in our perspectives. For me, Senjutsu and Seventh Son are at the top of Maiden's pyramid. There is nothing I don't like, other than Virtual XI. (I love Blaze.) Brave New World is also near the top for me with Somewhere in Time. Maiden is my favorite band. Period.
@@BrendonSnyder First Listen to Maiden 1983 But Maiden is propably the only Band who i prefer the Later Albums since 2000 . I like this newer Progressiv Metal . (Except the new Album Senjutsu)
My list below is ever changing but this is where i'm at right now.Must say i've been listening to No Prayer quite a bit of late and for the first time i'm really beginning to appreciate what I used to consider to be some fairly weak songs but now think they're great!Even Hooks in You is quite good!! 17 - X Factor 16 - Dance Of Death 15 - Virtual IX 14 - Fear Of The Dark 13 - The Final Frontier 12 - No Prayer For The Dying 11 - A Matter Of Life and Death 10 - Iron Maiden 09 - Book Of Souls 08 - Seventh Son of a Seventh Son 07 - Killers 06 - The Number Of The Beast 05 - Brave New World 04 - Somewhere In Time 03 - Senjutsu 02 - Piece Of Mind 01 - Powerslave

Piece Of Mind I didn't rank Senjutsu yet because it's too early but I see potential for it to crack my top 5!
That’s big praise for the new album. I originally had it higher in my ranking. But there are just so many good albums that given the choice I’d still listen to album Senjutsu. But that’s not to say it’s not a great album.
Thank you for you refreshing ranking. It's unsual to see Seventh Son of a Seventh Son so low and X-Factor/Fear of the Dark/No prayer so high, but it's nice to hear different opinions,,

Four of my favorites are in last place on your list 😂… but I know we all hear things differently and of course there are many factors that play into why we like one album over another. Bottom line, Maiden don’t make bad albums. Some are just better than others.
Yeah I don’t know why people are so against it. But when placed next to the polished sheen of the last couple albums before it, I understand it was probably a shock at the time.
@@malakasquad2214 Most fans prefer Fear Of The Dark because it's a better overall album than No Prayer, which was a major disappointment when it came out after the incredible Seventh Son. Fear Of The Dark is not very good though either
@Todd Lesiak If we talk about the albums that preceded No Prayer for the Dying, I feel that each of these albums deserves to have fans who consider it their favorite Maiden album. I bought No Prayer when it came out, I always saw it more as a kind of back to the roots, and I still like it a lot. Fear of the Dark was really disappointing for me. The album already start badly with Be Quick or Be Dead plus most of the songs on the B-side are forgettable, Weekend Warrior could have been on Bruce's Tattooed Millionaire, which isn't a bad album at all, but it's a whole different story, it's not Maiden. That's how I see it. In the end, everyone finds their own. My favorite Maiden album is Piece of Mind, that might be an additional evidence. 😉🤘
Here’s my ranking, I have been relistening since your last video so some might have changed from my previous post. I am not going to rank Senjutsu yet. I need more time with it but I think its very strong. I like the epic, dark, brooding feel as you said. 1. Powerslave 2. Number of the Beast 3. Killers 4. Piece of Mind 5. Seventh Son 6. Somewhere in Time 7. Iron Maiden 8. Brave New World 9. Book of Souls 10. Dance of Death 11. Final Frontier 12. Matter of Life and Death 13. Fear of the Dark 14. No Prayer for the Dying 15. Virtual XI 16. X Factor
I couldnt disagree more about Seventh son of a seventh son. This might be their most poetic album. If i had to put a commercial - friendly album, it would be piece of mind, which has radio hits such as Flight of Icarus. The lyics from each song from SSOASS cod be written in golden pages. So artistic. So theatrical. And this is what Maiden have been pursuing in their live performances as well; to create a theatrical atmosphere.
@@quolizzy1554 "Brave New World" was actually pretty good, but is not even near the same level as "SSOASS." Unfortunately for Maiden, the best music they made after "SSOASS" didn't come from them... it came from Bruce. "Balls To Picasso," "Accident Of Birth," "The Chemical Wedding," & "Tyranny Of Souls" are all better than anything Maiden did after 1988... especially "Accident Of Birth" & "The Chemical Wedding" which are really incredible albums!!
@@toddlesiak3837 dont get me wrong, I like all Maiden, but if I am being specific or picky, I think when certain band members leave and others take their place it upsets the ship. When Adrian Smith left after SSOASS things were never the same for me personally. So for me anything post SSOASS wasn't the Maiden I listen to as often.

Hi Brendon. I was really happy to see Somewhere In Time so high up there. I have recently been listening to all of these albums myself again and the whole feel of the Somewhere In Time album had me now thinking it's my favourite album. As much as I loved Blaze Batley as a front man for them live, I can't get on with the two albums and I am also a Wolfsbane fan, so figure that one out!

It's always interesting to see how people rank the Maiden albums. Seems like every one of them has their loyal supporters. Don’t think I’ve heard an iron maiden ranking as alternate to yours. I prefer that though as good to get a different insight than all too familiar iron maiden rankings. I agree with no prayer being an excellent album, along with the X factor. Hi Brendon!! thanks for doing a ranking of my favorite band............ and for been so different from mine and many others!!! Yours really have a couple of surprises like "X Factor" and "No Prayer" and 7th Son!!!! but that's ok we all hear music in different ways and discover the band at different ages. cheers and be well
I don’t know what it is with Seventh Son. The number of people who I’ve upset with it is crazy to me. But we all hear things differently. I even re-listened to the album before the ranking just to confirm. Others albums adjusted based on re-listenings. Somewhere In Time moved up for me and Piece Of Mind overtook my previous #1 Powerslave. But like you I think it’s the differences that make these lists fun. I’m glad you enjoyed it with all of its differences.
That's definitely a very unique ranking, this is mine: 1) Seventh Son of a Seventh Son 2) Powerslave 3) Somewhere in Time 4) The Book of Souls 5) Brave New World 6) Piece of Mind 7) A Matter of Life and Death 8) Number of the Beast 9) Senjutsu 10) Killers 11) Iron Maiden 12) Final Frontier 13) Dance of Death 14) Fear of the Dark 15) X Factor 16) No Prayer for the Dying 17) Virtual XI
I didn’t really think my list was that out of the norm but I’m getting lots of comments that it’s “strange” or “bizarre”. I get that not a lot of people like the Blaze era and generally speaking fans aren’t as happy with No Prayer and Fear, but other than that I didn’t think it would ruffle as many feathers. Interesting.
I like your opinions and ranking im always interested in people's opinions to me no Maiden albums is terrible by any means so it's always difficult for me to rank them but anyway here is mine 17. Virtual X1 16. No Prayer for the Dying 15. Final Frontier 14. The X Factor 13. Dance of Death 12. Fear of the Dark 11. Iron Maiden 10. Shinjutsu 9. Brave New World 8. 7th Son of a 7th Son 7. Killers 6. Book of Souls 5. Number of the Beast 4. Somewhere in Time 3. A Matter of Life and Death 2. Piece of Mind 1. Powerslave
After 4 or 5 listens now to Senjutsu in its entirety my rankings from Best to Least Best (because there's really no such thing as a bad Maiden album)... 1 - Powerslave 2 - The Number of the Beast 3 - Killers 4 - Iron Maiden 5 - Somewhere in Time 6 - Piece of Mind 7 - Seventh Son of A Seventh Son 8 - Dance of Death 9 - The Final Frontier 10 - Brave New World 11 - No Prayer for the Dying 12 - The Book of Souls 13 - Senjutsu 14 - A Matter of Life and Death 15 - The X Factor 16 - Fear of the Dark 17 - Virtual XI
Nice list, though our lists differ quite a bit. I like where you placed No Prayer, and Piece is also my favorite. I have been a huge fan since I purchased Killers when it first came out. And kudos for no profanity
I commend you for the fair rating of 'The final frontier'. I agree, best post reunion album. In my top 5! The most underrated album in their entire catalogue. I also agree that 'No prayer.'.. and 'The X factor' are very underrated. Piece of mind is in my top three.
Powerslave was the first one I bought 1989. But the first album bought that was a new release at the time meaning all the promotion, etc. was Fear Of The Dark.
17 - Virtual XI 16 - Fear of the Dark 15 - Final Frontier 14 - A Matter of Life and Death 13 - Iron Maiden 12 - Killers 11 - No Prayer for the Dying 10 - Dance of Death 9 - Book of Souls 8 - Senjutsu 7 - Number of the Beast 6 - X- Factor 5 - Brave New World 4 - Somewhere in Time 3 - Powerslave 2 - Piece of Mind 1 - Seventh Son of a Seventh Son
My ranking. S tier: Somewhere In Time Powerslave Peace Of Mind Iron Maiden Brave New World A tier: Killers Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son Number Of The Beast Dance Of Death The Final Frontier B tier: A Matter Of Life And Death Senjutsu C tier: Fear Of The Dark Book Of Souls D tier: No Prayer For The Dying The X Factor F tier: Virtual XI
my personal top 3 : 7th son, brave new world, powerslave. my personal flop 3 : 17 no prayer, 16 fear o/dark, 15 danse of death. 14 would be Virtual 11, and 4 would be Peace of Mind
I found it interesting that your put brave new world so far down I consider that one the best of the new era along with Senjutsu :) I really like Senjutsu I got it as my back patch :)
I've been revisiting BNW and it's a very comercial, radio friendly album with a polished production. Some songs on the second half sound more like Helloween than Maiden tbh
Interesting ranking. I am rather new to Iron Maiden (surely I knew the name, but not really the band). The new albums just sound different from the 80s oldies. Though I still do not know all albums of them, I agree so far as "Piece of Mind" is my favorite, "Flight of Icarus" is one of my favorite Metal Songs of all bands, a real Metal "ballad". However, I have somehow problems with "Fear of the dark" and "no prayer for the dying" (sorry, you ranked them on 5 or 4, others also commented on these albums here...) May I dare to say that they sound almost like ordinary metal bands to me there? On the other hand (and that might also be unusual) I liked both albums with Blaze.
Brandon, I thought you said 1992 fear of the dark was your 1st album you got from the band, Then you say power slave is also your 1st album. So what is it?
Powerslave I bought on cassette in 1989. Later I would by Fear Of The Dark on CD as a new release. Enjoying a new album with all its singles, videos and promotion is different than coming into an album after it’s been out for years. I was just making a distinction between my first album and my first new release album.
Interesting ranking; I'm a fan since 1984 and The X Factor ranks as my 6th, too: a masterpiece. The Number and debut aren't the be all, end all, in their discography as some say, also.
@@BrendonSnyder I get people rank albums differently in retrospect, but when those albums were new, well that was something special. If someone wasn't there they don't get it I guess.
1. Killers 2. Virtual XI 3. X Factor 4. Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son 5. Somewhere In Time 6. Dance Of Death (because I have to squeeze it on here) P.S: I love the fact that you're confident in giving your personal opinion even if you know it'll rattle some people's cages 🤟
Thanks I appreciate that. I like to be honest with everyone and keep it real no matter what people think. Cool to see both Blaze era albums so high on your list!
Good show and a rather unique order of picks. I have a meandering opinion of the "Number of the Beast" album, as I used to like "Run to the Hills", but now it seems dated and is currently overplayed to death; on the other hand, I used to dislike the title track, but now I like it much better, and its other cuts like "Prisoner," "Hallowed Be Thy Name", and "Invaders" rank as some of Maiden's best. Kudos for "Somewhere In Time"; that one has gained more favor in my book (all killer, no filler) and I would put it at #2 over "Powerslave." And I agree with "Piece of Mind" being their best. I still need to dig in more to the post 90's stuff, but I like what I've heard so far.
I knew my list would no follow the norms but it’s my honest opinions and feelings about the albums. I’m finding it interesting though how upset & confused some people are by my rankings…haha 😂 Definitely give their later albums a chance when you’re next dying for some new Maiden and don’t have any.
Was looking forward to your ranking..I agree with some of your slotting and disagree with others... imagine that..a different opinion lol ..how boring would these rankings be if they were all the same...here's my two cents 1. Piece of mind 2. Killers 3. Powerslave 4. The Number of the Beast 5. Seventh son of a seventh son The rest changes daily Any plans for a cheap trick ranking?
Exactly! If we all agreed it wouldn’t be any fun to do them. It’s more fun to see people get worked up over it. They’re just lists and opinions but some take it way to seriously. Regarding Cheap Trick, not at the moment. But perhaps somewhere down the line. They’re such a great band and deserve one.
Interesting ranking! I'm surprised to see "Book of Souls" so low. I like the album pretty much, but you're right, most of the songs are long. One thing I like about Maiden so much. No Prayer ... - was always a letdown for me, not a single long song on it 🙁 Somewhere In Time - I always loved this one, my entrance album to Maiden.
😆 At one point Brendon I thought you’d gone totally tonto with this ranking but you just about regained sanity towards the end ...... almost . I really like Final Frontier too and pleased you weren’t tempted to sneak in Flo on the wall just to finish me off , however I still enjoyed it and it made the chore of making the tea bearable even if I did drop the lasagne at the Number of the beast placing ! Respect my friend
Was probably always highly unlikely that my ranking would match up with most people. With 17 albums and a 46 year career there are a lot of eras too. Obviously coming into the band in the late 80’s and early 90’s was going to skew things. But they’re just my honest opinions about what I like.
@@BrendonSnyder I really enjoyed your ranking , it’s entertaining and I don’t take it seriously at all , keep up the great work flying the flag Brendon
@@BrendonSnyder Unfortunately you’ll get the odd nutter like the one who jumped on me for daring to compare the track records of Megadeth and Metallica
Congratulations for this Ranking... i almost disagree entirely, but it feels fresh to see a very different take on these albums.
The new album is incredible! Peace of Mind is my all time favorite.
In my opinion, Piece of Mind is not only the best Iron Maiden album, it is generally my favorite album. And yes, Senjutsu is just fantastic, what an achievement after so many years. 🤘
i have an idea for you next rank all their album cover artworks
One of the more particular rankings of the Maiden albums I've seen thus far. But hey, then again we all hear those albums through our own ears and experience them in a different way. 😉🤘
Hi Carl! Yes and that’s the beauty of music. Up The Irons! 🤘
So true. Everyone has a special place in their heart for the first Maiden album they purchased.
Thank you for ranking No Prayer for the Dying so high. I love that album.
Yes mood certainly dictates how we hear and what we want to hear. On any given day this list could be different based on my mood too.
The fact that every Maiden ranking is so different is the ultimate testament to their legacy.
Yes. When it comes to Maiden, there are no rankings that are incorrect.
Because of this ranking, i’ll finally listen to the Blaze albums, Fear of the Dark, and No Prayer front to back for the first time. Thanks!
That’s music to my ears and hopefully you’ll enjoy the music playing in your ears from these great albums!
Cool man, nice to meet another No Prayer fan!!
@@BrendonSnyder i would place no prayer in my top 5 to. Fantastic record
Great Channel Brendon. Thank you.

1. Powerslave
I rank my albums by the consistency of superb tracks per album ... the exceptions being Powerslave and Piece Of Mind, a couple of merely-good songs surrounded by several world-beaters--having said that, I adore every tune on Somewhere In Time and Seventh Son.
Senjutsu already ranks as number 12 as I think that it has more tracks, six of 'em, that I'd rank as very good than the ones ranked lower ... four or five great tracks each, the rest being just not as great.
My ten fave tunes from the bottom five:
Futurereal, The Clansman, El Dorado, Tailgunner, Bring Your Daughter ..., Holy Smoke, Fear Of The Dark, The Sign Of The Cross, Man On The Edge and Virus, the single.
Wow. That’s an unusual ranking. To each his own.
Yes it’s what makes the world go around!
Fear of the Dark was the first album I bought live. Just curious. I'm 46. How old are you?
I’m 47…guess we came into it about the same time. I’ve found that timing has a lot to do with which albums are our favorites. Often times they may not be the best by the band but if that’s the album we first bought it will often be the one that holds that special place in our heart. I have a lot of favorites that aren’t the “big” or “popular” albums.
Wow, your ranking varies quite a bit from others I've watched (and my own). I love that. Thanks for sharing!
Yeah I just go off how I feel. I don’t create these rankings for anyone but myself. I’m glad you can appreciate an alternate opinion! 👍
1. Dance of Death
2. Somewhere in Time

Yeah Run silent is amazing. What about mother russia?
Great review. Wasted years is also one of my favorites. Somewhere in time and powerslave are my favorites. Senjutsu is pretty darn good...hell on earth and time machine are solid
Very controversial but bold rankings there. I wouldn't put TNOTB and TBOS so low or TXF, TFF, NPFTD or FOTD so high but I do enjoy all their albums. Good video. 🤘
Great vid Brendon. I’m with you for the most part except my top 2 are Seventh Son followed by Powerslave.
Cool! 👍
Well, Brendon, this is definitely one of the wildest Maiden album rankings I have seen 👍
😂😂😂….👊
When you put SSoaSS as low as you did I realized that you were not taking prisoners! And I gasped when I realized that NPFtD hadn’t been mentioned yet so close to the end. Mad respect to you, well reasoned picks!

They’re all good album and I do like them but some albums have to fall at the end. That is the nature of a ranking.
Hi Brendon..I am with you..Virus single and X Factor are great and deserve some honour among the ranks. Up the Irons.
@@BrendonSnyder If we all ranked albums exactly the same , it would be very boring indeed. Thats why your video is very interesting..
It is so so hard. My list after two hours of moving vinyl records on the floor:
1) brave new world (maybe due to personal nostalgia)
2) seventh son
3) somewhere in time
4) x-factor
5) matter of life and death
6) piece of mind

16) fear of the dark
17) virtual xi
Shit i feel like a traitor to the last ten albums which i absolutely love.
I dropped off for a few years after 7th Son
but have now gotten back into them. During lockdown, whist working at home, I played all of the albums in chronological order and had a couple of the best days at work on ages.
That’s cool to have been with the band from the start!
4:14 The moment i became really interested on this list, and that was just the beginning. Good choices Brendon, i´m with you. 😉
Glad you enjoyed it!
I was shocked by your insane list, but after reading all comments I felt relieved, it's you that are crazy and I'm perfectly normal 😂
I'm totally cool with your top 3 though.
The new album is not bad 🤘🏻 a little slow..but has its (Japanese) reason. Sounds like a unique entire infinite song.
Cheers from Italy 🇮🇹

It’s so underrated!

Wow those first 4 early tours must have been amazing! What stage show did you like best?
@@BrendonSnyder
Number of the Beast was stripped down as think Powerslave was probably the best of all.

Four of my favorites are in last place on your list 😂… but I know we all hear things differently and of course there are many factors that play into why we like one album over another. Bottom line, Maiden don’t make bad albums. Some are just better than others.
Major respect putting No Prayer so high. I really like that album and it's not as bad as people say it is
Yeah I don’t know why people are so against it. But when placed next to the polished sheen of the last couple albums before it, I understand it was probably a shock at the time.
@@BrendonSnyder After "Somewhere In Time" & "Seventh Son," "No Prayer" was a massive shock & still somewhat of a disappointment to me
Yes, I don't know why most fans prefer Fear of the Dark, No Prayer is a much stronger album in my opinion.

Not a fan of Blaze?
I couldnt disagree more about Seventh son of a seventh son. This might be their most poetic album. If i had to put a commercial - friendly album, it would be piece of mind, which has radio hits such as Flight of Icarus. The lyics from each song from SSOASS cod be written in golden pages. So artistic. So theatrical. And this is what Maiden have been pursuing in their live performances as well; to create a theatrical atmosphere.
That’s ok, everyone has their own favorite
"Seventh Son" is a masterpiece!
@@toddlesiak3837I actually think this is the last truely great Maiden album, it was downhill from here.

Your ranking is fairly similar to mine. Somewhere in Time is my favorite. I also like Seventh Son and Number of the Beast a lot more. Still need to get the new album, but the songs I've heard are pretty good.

@@bernabefernandeztouceda7315 well your entitled to your opinion its cool infact
Yeah it seems I’m in the minority with my love for No Prayer and Fear. But that’s ok, these rankings are just opinion based.
"Put them in the iron maiden." "Iron Maiden?! Excellent!"
Brandon, I thought you said 1992 fear of the dark was your 1st album you got from the band, Then you say power slave is also your 1st album. So what is it?
Fear of the Dark was the first album he purchased at time of release (in 1992).

Any plans for a cheap trick ranking?
- was always a letdown for me, not a single long song on it 🙁
Somewhere In Time - I always loved this one, my entrance album to Maiden.
"The Book Of Souls" is just very long & boring to many ppl, but I can also understand why some ppl like it
😆 At one point Brendon I thought you’d gone totally tonto with this ranking but you just about regained sanity towards the end ......
