Hi, I am the author repulsive-ardor. I absolutely love what you did here and I can't believe how well this came out and has been received. Best series, if you are here and are listening, it picks up real fast and is one of the better stories out there. Leave a comment and help me find more stories! I would appreciate that very much.
This story hit me in all the right ways.. subscribed,, a little of my own history.. I was an Air Force Security Police, Ground Combat Specialist in the Reagan years.. and Syria was making noises about attacking Israel.. worse, the Soviets to gain access to middle east resources was threatening to move in to support Syria.. My President simply told them, Don't... and started to sent rapid response forces.. move Carrier Battle Groups, Army regiments assigned to Germany NATO readied to move.. Tactical Air Wings prepared to deploy.. and each Air Force Base was dedicated to provide hundreds of Ground Combat Airmen to provide ground defense for our forward deployed forces on airfields on the ground.. Word went out as buses pulled up to the barracks.. Every Airman grabbed his ready bag, and boarded to head to the armory.. Drew weapons, ammo and then to the local airport and head to a secured hanger to wait for a C-141 to arrive and carry us to Tel Aviv. To very likely fight to save our friends from a Soviet, Arab attack.. I had a while to think sitting in that hanger.. we lined up and got vaccinations, Legal was there so we each could draft a Will, Then, very long hours sitting with my brother Airmen.. We'd all fight for America.. but for a friend?, to protect their wives, kids, families from a very brutal Soviet, Arab attack? The only answer that American men could give.. YES, we'd fight to the end to defend our ally and friend.. to the end.. no retreat, no running away.. One of the longest nights of our lives.. Well President Reagan was right, by showing our strength to fight for a friend.. the Soviets took the right choice and scaled down, backed off.. the Arab nations without a superpowers support? also stood down.. and we were collected on buses to turn in weapons and head back to the barracks.. Sure the world would not end in a world war that morning.. So.. yes, they could not have hoped in your story for a better friend, Defender than Humans.. We do NOT abandon friends.. at least the United States does not.. At whatever the cost.. we won't run.. We FIGHT. and I eagerly await the next chapter...
This was so good. I think I listened to a much truncated version of this story once, felt more like an outline in comparison to this. Glad to see it got fleshed out so much more. You had me on the edge of my seat. Looking forward to the next part.
Absolutely fantastic! Reminds me of the serial Saturday movies of the 1930's. My Dad would tell me of going to the theater and paying 5 cents for a movie...always with "cliff hanger" ending...they left you dangling and waiting for the next movie with its conclusion, but with a cliff hanger of it's own, forcing the young crowd to save up their pennies for the next week's episode. I eagerly wait for part #2 ...😅
Part 2: A giant can a wasp spray flashes out of null space. Suddenly the hive ships are covered in foam. Foamy insectoids squirming in anguish as the poison takes hols. The end!!
I tried to watch the entire ensemble. But locked up after an hour or so into it. Decided to listen to each chapter individually. Just started Episode 21. 20 brought a tear to my eyes.

Something about the bit with the fleet being sent back by the Commonwealth who abandoned them made me flash back to Sword of Truth. There, an army is sent by a nation to assist the heroes in fending off a seemingly infinite horde of enemies, their nation, allied because the main character's wife was half sibling to the queen and general of the nation's army, greets her brother. Of course, since the nation he represents is the next to be attacked, and EVERYONE knows it, he's there to coordinate defenses, as they have troops, but no supplies, and he has supplies, and only a few troops...and the heroes decide to sacrifice his nation to slow down the enemy, as it will take them time to 'process' their conquest. The general, the wife's half brother, is disgusted by this attitude, but says he'll leave them some of the supplies and his forces. That's where this differs. One of the magic users then kills him with a spell, something that just causes him to keel over dead, and they then LIE to his army, saying one of the enemy snuck into camp, and that he had them stay with the hero's army to help bolster more defenses while they sent 'aid' to their nation. They never even had a chance to learn their nation was destroyed, as the heroes used them for meat shields and shock troops, deliberately. And these are the people we are supposed to see as, if not GOOD, then JUSTIFIED in their actions. Still makes me mad to this day. Which is why I won't be disappointed if the new allies just leave the commonwealth after this.
i've been commenting in this hfy stories channels and saying that to distinguish AI for human writers is the 1st and 2nd paragraph. AI is generic, detach from life description But human writers felt personal and closer to life style. a very good example is this. the writer starts with a intro "HUMANS..... " 2nd paragraph. "my species" if AI wrote this. 1st "HUMANITY" in vast expance of space, 2nd paragraph "a certain species" plus some unconcerned description of body apperance" good job author. i love the story .
technology don't always win wars it is important but what will never be more powerful is both learning your enemy to adopt what you learned and constantly coming up with new ways of warfare
yeah BS with the younglings part... if you lose a ship on a rescue operation - ok, fine that happens. but not a second or third and certainly not 16 and 800 lives. Self preservation is still a thing, and is doctrine in any rescue operation. you can't help anyone if you die.
I don’t believe that it’s meant to be woke, they’re just from a different planet. Shows us that the Eleani are a lot like humans, but not quite the same.
The Eleani are descended from a communal arboreal species that would share the duties of child rearing among all the adults of the troop. Once the babies were 4 weeks old, they no longer belong to their parents but to the troop. There were no family units until they achieved sapience and they now use the terms Sirefather and Birthmother in a nod to their past communal lifestyle and to reinforce that they are now a family unit and know who their parents are.
