HFY is a story/series that takes a “human element” in either humanity or an “other” (race/species or object) that exists in a “setting” (future or other world/universe) with varying levels of culture, technology, society and history that help show in some shape or form the potential good or bad for humanity’s race/culture. In These stories Humans are often referred to as Human, Humanity, Deathworlder, Hellwolder in reference to the human planet of origin , Earth. This planet is seen by most of the universe as a place where only death and chaos can survive.

Part 2 would be difficult since the author never wrote a part 2. (The original reddit story is linked in the video description and the author only posted 3 stories overall that don't seem to be connected to each other)

His buddies laugh at him. Then the Human fills the sky thousands of ships hundreds of meters long. Broadcasting this world and its people are NOW under our protection leave NOW or DIE. The pilot turns to his friends and says they followed me home can I keep them.

Part 2 is essentially humanity genociding the tits off of the universe, while blasting Pantera and megadeth.
@anilwang I guess there's no reason to watch any movies then, because we've seen it all before. The hero either wins or loses.
The entertaining part is finding out how the author gets to the conclusion and to see it described in a manner I haven't thought about. See "why Humans Avoid War" and " Nature of Predators" by Space Paladin 15 as examples.

That was awesome. It puts you in mind of the terrible damage that the human empire will inflict once it goes to war.
Yes wars make us kinda of nuts. WW2 started with biplane and calvary charges and ended with jets and nukes.
technology ALWAYS moves faster during a time of war.
Ever notcied how when we come out of a HUGE conflict. technology has changed beyond belief.
Knowone wants to fund expiremental stuff during peacetime. Its to expensive, but during wartime, everyone want the next big weapon.
After war, IF we survive it, the tech then gets repurposed n research goe sin a differant direction

I teared up at the end when the ships came out of cloak. I've been listening to lots of amazing short stories I wished were movies. This one in particular kinda resonated a bit. I hope a second part comes out.
Should definitely be turned into a space opra/ novel. Would buy 10/10.
Terran empire in this story sounds like that one tribe that kills anyone who lands on thier island.

The “they kept saying they wouldn’t do it again” reminds me of the snap story. That’s so well done
With that backstory...this is a universe that will have other civilizations ground into the dust.
These histories validate that peace only can be achieved through strength. Not everybody will agree but it is what it is

this is my favourite of all the hfy stories
I don't think this one has it in it for a part two, though feel free to prove me wrong author. Considering the type of Short Story this is, it works best to leave what happens up to the reader, especially given the rest is likely to be sound and thunder, but little else, unless the galaxy has indeed grown stronger, which, given humans are still able to do impossible things, seems unlikely.
No, this is a good stopping point, showing that sometimes, having faith and even yelling at the gods themselves can move the heavens. After all, this one came with neither war nor peace at its calling, but instead a desperate plea for help, something not quite the same as either of those, and it will likely usher in a new era, as the 'elder' races learn what it is when the younger have their own champion.
I know this is probly true. But one can hope.

Well, i would certainly like to know, how the higher-ups reacted, when Jav'Een drop in with a "Don't worry! The cavalry is here!" attitude, and an army of battleships from the most feared race...
And we doesn't even needed to be very smart to became that. The thing, what gave us that level of terror, was the released pathogen - and viruses main talent lies in adaptibility. Our current world wasn't able to eradicate all of them yet, mostly by the fact, that viruses can mutate with an extraordinary rate. If they found a compatible, but different kind of virus, two different strain can blend together, creating a third, even more dreadful one - given enough time them to do that. In this story, the fabricated alien virus had a compatibility with leprosy, and the needed time was about one to one and half years. After that they only needed to transit it to their targets... And i am not sure, humanity could stop that virus, even if they would accept to do so. As i already said: viruses mutates constantly, and even if there would be one effective medicine against it, that could be a deadly poison to other races...
Now that's a good story. I would buy the audio books if there were any.

Of the short stories like this you did an amazing job with this one. Loved it would love to see a part 2 for his race's reaction when the "help" arrives and turns the war on its heels.

That depends how he arrives home. If alone they might laugh or give him a dissertation court marshal. But if the humans show up with him he would be a hero. Well he is a hero. He did it that's what heros do. Thier duty take a chance might die. So many others are in need for something to be done so I guess it's me. No time to wait got to be now or never. Failure is not an option.

Part 2 isn't really needed, it is implied that the humans would win. Let your imagination decide how they arrive at victory, then change your mind and experience a whole new end to the story.

It reminds me of another short story I read years ago. Maybe it was a James Blish story or Theodore Sturgeon or in a anthology edited by Arthur C. Clarke. Someone ventured into a interdicted area of space, no one was supposed to go there. They brought back images of the species found there and there was a collective shitting of the pants when they realized they had found humans again. I am thinking it was a James Blish story though since that is my first thought/educated guess.. Now if I could only find the one where aliens returned with a cure for those who were afflicted with the disease that turned their skin white.
This story needs to be fleshed out into a whole book/series.....

Is there going to be a second story? I hope so. Will the humans get there in time. Will they even be strong enough to help? For 600 years the humans were by themselves. Do they still have powerful weapons, powerful enough to help.
@stevenf1953 Speaking as a human, you really think we would just sit on our bums and not spy and steal tech during those 600 years of isolation?. With those stolen tech we make them better and more lethal. Thats the human way..lol
well they had 600 years to upgrade their stuff so their weapons should be way more powerful
