  • I decided to remove the gas tank because it was very rusty inside. I chemically cleaned it as well as rolling BB's around inside to help clean off rust. I then applied a tank liner/sealer to help prevent rust because of washing off the original tank protector. I also painted the exterior of the tank.

    My reserve fuel line is clogged. I haven't been able to use it. It is not rust but fuel sludge.

    Hello, didn't the coating block your two filters? I like to do the same, but not sure about the filters. Thanks!

    Will the reserve function still work after you coated the tank?

    • @TomAsay64
      @TomAsay64  Год назад

      Yes, it does.After coating and before it dried, I blew compressed air into the outlet of the valve in both on and reserve positions.
      Thanks for watching!

    Hey, do you have any interest in a 76 gl1000 limited edition. It sat for too long and the gas tank rusted. I saw your video and thought you might be interested.

    What is the red coating you put inside the gas tank.

    • @TomAsay64
      @TomAsay64  2 года назад

      I used Evapo-Rust and BBs to remove the rust.
      The red stuff is Red-Kote Fuel Tank Liner.

    What about the concern of the pickup screens clogging ?

    • @TomAsay64
      @TomAsay64  Год назад +2

      I turned the tank upside down and then blew air backwords through the lines and let it dry that way.
      Thanks for watching!

      @@TomAsay64 I got my 75 goldwing from a scrapyard and the license plate says it's been there since 91 lol my screens just disintegrated when I used a wire brush inside the tank to get the rust out that nasty old fuel that was still in it came out smelling like varnish and it was black. So much rust and debris that the reserve line is almost clogged. Vinegar was the least abrasive but most effecting thing I could find that could cut that much rust inside a gas tank.
