Been dreaming about these for 20 years! Made them today! They're just like i remember...i played TMNT 1 on Nes and enjoyed a bowl, even drew the cover to tape over the chex box. Thank you so much!
I love this video. I found it by looking up 1980’s recreations. Someone should do all the classic cereals if possible, Nintendo cereal, Ghostbusters, Batman etc
The ONLY difference is that the original was Rice Chex not Corn. But damn right it was close! I would say 99 percent accurate. Awesome cereal and great memories
I didn't catch that myself, but you are absolutely right. And I agree, it is 99% the same taste -- even as I ate the old cereal with the dog food aftertaste -- I didn't notice a difference with the initial flavor.
i remember the flavor, the chex in the turtle cereal was very wheat flavored and sweet, not at all like actual chex. technically "pedigree" produced this cereal.
You’re almost right on both accounts…but it was actually 100% Chex - more specifically frosted Rice Chex. And the company that produced it was Ralston Purina of Purina Pet Food fame - not Pedigree. The only difference between Honey Chex in this video and TMNT Cereal would be that it is corn based and not rice based.
I do not recommend the Honey Nut Corn Chex. The box I bought had a particularly savory, corny aftertaste that sweetened vanilla oat milk did not offset. Probably best to just go with the rice Chex and use some kind of sweetener if you want it sugary
Fair enough…but vanilla oat milk is not going to taste anything like childhood! Honey Nut Corn Chex was 90% there. A corny aftertaste is a minor inconvenience IMO. But I will try the rice Chex soon. And just drop some sugar in there.
@Ninja Turtle Pies that's awesome!!! I'm sayin right before your hand slid threw the layers of cardboard,.. thats when I thought Hou was going to say never mind. Nope you broke that seal and my heart dropped and stopped...

Breakfast is Saved!
I like how you used the vintage turtle bowls in this. I may try it myself. Cowabunga!
Bro, I've been thinking about this for DECADES. I'm gonna kiss you on the face, so hard.
I remember eating almost an entire box of this cereal on my 11th birthday. I felt so sick almost an hour later lol. Great memories!

The cerial has been revived !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Damn I completely forgot about those pies until this moment. I nostalgia'd.
Funny how obscure the pies were, yet how intense the nostalgia is for them
Okay time time to go to the store
yes
Great video!
Grew up in the 2000s so I never got to eat this. Guess this is my closest shot at ascending as a TMNT fan
Not only is it your closest shot - it’s dang near an exact replica
I still remember the TASTE MY FAVORITE CEREAL STILL 90
Very cool 😎
I think the only thing that could replicate it even better is if they made a Frosted Rice Chex. I think that would nail it even more
Absolutely. But I will say…I’ve sweetened some Rice Chex recently…and I would rather have the Honey Chex! 🤣
I remember them being salty and sweet
no saltiness, but maybe the Chex kinda tricks your brain into tasting it

My heart stopped for you. I would have left it sealed
Don’t worry, I have a couple more sealed boxes.
