I adore this couple. Their relationship is just incredibly wholesome and traditional in a way you don't get to see often anymore. Both Mario and Peach are kind people, and Peach is such a sweet and innocent soul. As someone who's autistic, these two just bring me happiness, especially when they interact. Plus Peach's voice sounds so sweet. Both Jen before her, and Sam now are killing it in the role. Anya's performance in the movie was nice, even if I don't personally think the voice itself Peach. Charles Martinet is incredible, but we should make sure the other VAs get their deserved recognition for bringing these beloved characters to life.

TL;DR - These two are so frickin' cute. One of my favourite things about their dynamic, is even though Peach is usually being rescued, she tends to get a little playful with Mario, it's really cute. She keeps giving him these little smooches, knowing fully well that he goes beet-red every time that happens, and then acts all regal, while playing it all off in the most innocent way. It's like the whole Princess-and-rescuer dynamic they have going on is mostly for show. Of course the Princess would give a kiss to someone who helped save the kingdom! Totally no romantic feelings involved. This isn't to say Peach is duplicitous, or not as sweet as she looks. She's absolutely a sweetheart, and she clearly adores Mario, but she also gets a little. Coy and flirtatious, for lack of a better word. And, like. Yeah, girl, I get it, making your partner blush is incredibly fun. And then there's Mario, who is usually very chipper and optimistic, and even in the face of danger won't lose his energy, but at the same time, he gets all bashful and stammers a bit around her, it's really something adorable. They have this sort of a Jessica and Roger dynamic, especially considering how she's all tall, graceful, regal, and he's a cartoony little guy, sometimes half her size. Side note, say what you want about the Mario movie, but their playful banter, him shifting from his heels to his toes all bashful, her calling him "moustache", it's all so incredibly adorable. There really isn't any simpler of an appeal to it, than these two very nice people being cute together, if a bit silly sometimes. Of course, there's room to interpret their dynamic as a secret girlboss and malewife type of deal, or both of them kind of embodying the "crouching moron hidden badass" trope (nobody really expects a short plumber or a dainty prinecss to kick ass), but as something of a power couple, or maybe even as some sort of an open thing where they're best friends that haven't actually realised they're in love, but I feel that every "Mario is actually an abusive and crass jerk" or "Peach is actually in love with Bowser" is just being needlessly mean-spirited, instead of trying to explore anything interesting about these two.
And MatPat certainly hasn’t helped matters. With both his bullshit “Mario is Mental” and “Peach Hooks Up With Luigi to Make Rosalina” videos, the discussion about Mareach became even more of a toxic hellscape. I’m a child of the late 80s, I was around for a lot of the early stuff, and I can say I’ve shipped Mario and Peach since I was a toddler. I always thought that he may not be the most handsome man, but it was still so lovely that he loved Peach (or Toadstool, as I knew her) just as she loved him, and I’ve always hoped for someone that would protect me and love me and be there for me like that.

I’m too old to say that (I was in college when Mario Kart Wii came out and remember Yoshi’s Island well enough to have always known Baby Mario was just Mario’s past self), but this idea is just the cutest ever and I lowkey wish it were canon.
