Playing On The Edge I Football In Greenland

- On our planet’s largest island lives a population of just over 55,000 people, to whom football is more than a national sport. It's the reason Greenlanders keep fighting. Despite having less than 6 months a year to play outdoors, a national team that FIFA refuses to recognise, and a national championship that lasts just one week each summer, football is at the heart of every town across this ice-strewn country.
Meanwhile, Greenland is changing rapidly. Traditional livelihoods and Inuit culture are under threat. Through the long, dark, Arctic winters, Greenlanders learn to adapt to the impacts of climate change.

This is by far my favourite channel when it comes to providing the entire "football soul" from every corner of the world. Thank you, thank you so much. Love from Norway.
any norway football channel to follow?
I agree FACTS
It's a simple process:
1. COPA90 uploads a video
2. I watch it
3. Life is better
please just shut up!
Agree, their content is so out of the box.. ❤
It's the beautiful game. It can coonect people from the jungles of Papua New-Guinea to Uzbek steppes to the people of Greenland. Incredible.
I have played in Nuuk Greenland for Arctic Winter games and the atmosphere in Futsal is crazy. They are super passionate about footy over there. Awesome video COPA!
Can you tell me how you went there? I'm curious.....
@@kazishafi826 we travelled by airplane to Iqaluit. And then from Iqaluit we went to kangerlussaq airport to get on a smaller plane. Then we went to Nuuk
Beautiful language, beautiful people, beautiful culture.
This is why I love football, it’s played everywhere, even in the arctic circle, in the middle of winter! The most beautiful sport! ❤️ ⚽️
Great documentary and it raises a massive talking point about something so many know so little about.
Would love to know why he's wearing a Cambridge United shirt though at 2:36 !
Great spot!!
Nukannguaq is my old school teacher, but he also played for my favorite clubs rivals back in my hometowm of Nuuk, so we had a love/hate relatioship with him.
But an amazing video!🇬🇱🇬🇱
Another moving piece of humanity and football. Stunning work Copa90! ❤❤❤
Thank you for these real stories from places that a lot of us don't think about.
Came for the football, stayed for stories about everyday life / struggle with climate change.
If you will start saying "technology that is suppressed and cheap" instead of "climate change"- we can maybe get somewhere. OR you can believe the solar is for the climate, not for the fact that every panel has to be changed ($$$$$) every 30 years. "climate change" is brainwashing to fight the people who are being brainwashed to believe nothing is changing- both sides brainwashed by the profiteer. Or you can ignore the fact we had engines that didn't need fuel built since the 1920s. Tesla lost because he didn't have anything to sell. WAKE UP. Stop parroting terms that have been planted in your head by people who don't care about the purity of others that you do. I believe you have the best of intentions. Just no logic, gullible. Even if everything was perfect, we would still have "climate change." It never stays the same.
playing football for no reason but love. there is not much people remember this.
I remember imaging things like this playing Champ Man 01/02 in places like here and the Faroes.
Amazing - what an eye opening video, stunning footage
This was amazing. So good to be reminded of the heart of the game.
Great video, it’s great how football is played and enjoyed all over the world.
Astonishing
Incredible video ! I enjoyed it very much, really interesting
Allez Compesières
I want to see Greenland on the next CONCACAF Nations League
They just got accepted to Concacaf
Their facial features look likes a mix between Caucasians and Asians. It's beautiful
It's actually a mix between Scandinavians and Asians
Protect these people at all costs
❤ I see only a picture of a goal with the text : Playing On The Edge . I hear , a foreign language , I imagine might be Danish , the language of Denmark , or maybe Norwegian or Swedish . The languages of Sweden and Norway ! ❤ Hopefully we might one day see a 6 a side team playing in The Plymouth Hope charity football Tournament maybe !? In Plymouth , UK ! ❤
I would be delighted to holiday in Greenland maybe one day , if I could obtain a Visa , or enter some how legally . ❤
What beautiful , relaxed voices . With a calm tone . The language is quite poetic and the rhythm and emotion of the speaker can be noticed.
The age, and identity. Weight and gender , might be guessed . Also , the stress levels . ❤
I hope they get accepted in FIFA and CONCACAF or UEFA.
They most recently applied to CONCACAF.
I agree
Can you please do a reportage about Saint-étienne the most passionate football city in France. For 40 years the club has been suffering and the whole city still loves the club. They were one of the biggest clubs in the world in the 60s and 70s. I would love copa90 to cover this club.
What a beautiful film that encompasses way more than just football!
Beautifully shot documentary. Great visuals and story elements. Thank you for this production
Greenland vs San Marino gotta happen
I have play in many places around the world but this is my place of dream to play one day 😢
Once again, an excelent story! I love your videos, you made an excelente job. Thank you Copa 90 😃😃
Another incredible release. Well done team.
Fantastic.
magnificent
I loved this documentary, I hope greenland can do well in football, very intresting to see how they live ❤
Copa90 and HITC Sevens doing things differently.
The Inuit language is so very interesting
There are several Inuit languages, this is Greenlandic.
wharra beautiful little bit insight into a quite wonderful group of people so in touch with the world around them.
Copa touching deep into the soul in ways not many can or do.
Copa90 did it again!
Hey, you were here recording in Argentina when we won the World Cup 3 months ago. I was wondering if that video is ever going to be uploaded ?
superb
Absolutely beautiful video, cheers to everyone involved for sharing this with the world.
Copa90 with that 🔥🔥
I love the Greenlandic language. Since listening to Nanook especially ;P
Beautiful language.
Anyway hope they do get an approved football national team soon.
Bring back Derby Days!
Ayy im here:D
Great work!
what a piece 👏🏽
Awesome video
Fantastic. 😁👍
Epic!
That's great
I bloody love Eskimos
Please make more Videos ❤⚽️
Great video again 👍... It wud be nice if u cud make a video about bosnian derby Zrinjski - Velez (i saw ur video about Zeljeznicar - Sarajevo). Zrinjski and Velez is local derby, they play in bosnian cup finals (17.5. one game on neutral field). That derby is specific in more ways, maybe unique. One club is bosnian, other croatian (Bosnia is country of 3 nations: bosniacs, croats and serbs), and these 2 clubs are parts of different religion, one are muslims, other are catholics (there is also 3rd religion in Bosnia and Herzegovina: orthodox, which are serbs in general). I know quality of football is not what u can see in the rest of europe, but still intensity is there. Hope u will make it also because there are only few videos about this derby and they didnt cover it up like they supposed to. Sorry for long post, cheers dude.
Please come to Graz, Austria, and make a story on Sk Sturm, her fanbase and history, the Graz Derby, and the fight to win the league against favorites Red Bull
Brilliant work again Copa...although I thought there is no such thing as climate change?
More of a public information film than about football in the country
If any Cambridge United fan ever thought he'd see it worn in Greenland... 😄
"The see doesn't freeze anymore" ignoring the opening credits when the sea was definitely frozen and someone was travelling across it.
🎉🎉🎉
and Now Greenland will join CONCACAF
Bro when tf will the post world cup victory video drop?
I would love to know why he's wearing a Cambridge utd shirt 😂
Because Julian Roberts (producer/co-director) supports Cambridge United? Just a thought…
Man i miss poet and vuj
It’s been 3 months come back!!
What the fuck is wrong with my algorithm! I love every documentary of this channel and it doesn't show me that you have a new video?!? Shame on you RUclips!
More to do with climate change then football. Aspects change & people have to adapt
why did you stop uploading?
Whattttt surely United have to arrange for those guys to go and watch a game at Old Trafford!? Come on...
Why are they speaking in Chinese and not English?
The spoken language remember a bit indonesian what makes no sense geographically speaking
And not 1 iglu in sight. Disappointing copa
I mean, just move to a warmer climate.
Bore off . Rip copa
Not much football
Usually love these vids, but was disappointed with this one, I don't feel i have learned anything about the Greenland football team at all. Take out all the climate change stuff and this would have barely been 5 minutes long 😕
It’s a climate change video & a message “we have to do more” & “pay more taxes” so Greenland can benefit marginally in 200 years time
Totally agree! Qnd how did the Eskimos get man utd taps too wear? All unanswered questions
Thought this was going to be about football not another message about climate change. Shame on you Copa
These are some very Asian looking native Americans! They look like central Asians, like Kazakhstanis or Kyrgyz people.
If you're curious as to why it's because Inuit groups were the most recent Indigenous group to cross over from Siberia. Nunavut in Canada is essentially an entire territory governed by the Inuit but the culture crosses from Alaska in the US all the way to Greenland.
@@aidbotwoody939 yes, the eskimos and Inuits both look very Asian looking. I’m also Native American but my tribes have a sharp face and darker skin. But we are from Mexico and the Us southwest area.
@Lewis C oh that's sick, being in Canada it's always jarring talking to Americans and about First Nations but super interesting nonetheless
It’s been a minute
It’s mean a binute
Beautiful place, but way too cold for me and not a single tree to be seen! Hell no, I’ll stick with my Sunny, warm, green California!! We can play football or any sport outside 365 days out of the year, it rarely ever goes below freezing! I love our beautiful California!
