Someone actually did not like this video? How can you NOT like these videos. They are easy to understand and pretty much explain everything step by step. I thank you for sharing all your SBS videos.
Dack Hacksaw who exactly?
I wouldn't 'dislike' this video because Andy has one of the finest channels for model building going, but even he is fallible. He skipped over quite a few rather important steps such as the mesh covering with the double-sided tape (included in the kit- and not a standard part of a build), as well as skipping over the build and mount of the entire loading breech (separate from the fact he used a metal gun barrel) and quite a few smaller bits and pieces which, because Andy builds in different order to the Tamiya instructions, can make it quite confusing whether to go ahead with a certain part of the build or wait.
When I was little, I bought it for my parents. I am grateful.
Saw this tank at the Bovington Tank Museum recently. Its a BEAST! Went and bought the model so this will be my next build.
Love your videos, very helpful for someone like me who has spent over two decades modeling 1/48 Luftwaffe fighters and is looking to get into German armor. Keep up the great work it's so enjoyable to watch!

I did the same build about a month ago and it was my first German tank, and my first non-America model, I did the same paint but I didn't do it as heavy in color, I put the German cross on the back top of the turret, I wish I could send you a picture so you can see what it looks like, but I like your videos and enjoy watching them and learning!👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Can we drive them.. i mean does the tracks movable?
Andy you have to do another Tiger II
Build , with figures
Do a Ardennes diorama
Love you vids Andy !!!
The idiom "killing 2 birds with one stone" has killed me! It's so hilarious, I've never heard anyone say that before!
Err you serious?
You is foreigner... Gringo !
It’s a famous English idiom 😉
Nice build! .. my dad was deafened by a Tiger 2 in WW2..I recently got a Tamiya 1/35 Tiger 2 and I like it. thanks from NZ 👍🇳🇿.
I think that King Tiger was one of the best tanks during the Second World War. I'm sure its potential wasn't realised by the best way. As for the model, it is very good. TAMYA provides a high quality. For me it is very important. The author of this video makes a very good job. Sorry for my English.
The King Tiger lacked some of the characteristics that make a main battle tank effective as both an offensive and defensive weapon. It was under-powered which meant poor mobility/maneuverability, it was not mechanically reliable, it required very frequent maintenance to keep it running smoothly (even if it didn't break down), it was impossible to mass produce, and it consumed great amounts of fuel (which was always in short supply for the Germans. Realistically, the King Tiger wasn't even the best German tank. Once some early design defects were corrected, the Panther was the best tank the Germans useed in WWII. Generally, the T-34 and Panther are considered the best tanks in WWII.
This man loves this hobby! I have this one sitting on the table now, I'll build soon. I've been working on it for a week or so. I'm just not in a hurry these days.
Andy, just an advice for building future German cats with the exhaust protectors on the rear, the bottom part of the exhaust protectors are not closed, because when it rains you don't want them to be filled up with water which would damage both exhaust and engine, you might wanna use something to remove it. Its sad that there are still kits like Tamiya not noticing them.
That’s pretty niche so I wouldn’t expect most people to know that but that’s an interesting an thing to know now
Nice rivet counter reply
Ive been building models for about 2 years now, I just leave them bare, in this one video you have put more effort into one tank then all the effort it took to build all of mine. If I ever do paint these things im probably just going to flat panzer grey them all, haha!
It was a lot of work but looks Really nice when done. Thanks for watching
i recommend painting them i used to do the same thing before i could afford an airbrush, but you should paint them, even if it is flat panzer grey
that has to be a yank talking
I'd like to see the Academy King Tiger: Last Production (1/35) tackled by you, Andy, it has the infamous 'octopus' camo scheme and can be built with the narrow transport tracks.
Outstanding. For a beginner like myself, this video is a treasure trove of great info. Thank you.
same
Great looking job Andy, love the ambush camo. I just picked up one of these kits with a metal barrel and PE parts, looking forward to building it using your video for reference, thanks for posting it!
This is by far the best model tiger I've ever seen. Great job! I'll definitely use this to paint my tiger!
Your new community on G+ is just fantastic! It's so much fun to see, what other modelers built, or to share your own creations.
Thank you, it was a great turn out
Tiger II wow .... I'll do next !!! a great tank model
Another great build, thanks for the inspiration, and for the record the music is perfect
2001…
キングタイガーは、タミヤの最初期のモデルでなつかしい!リニューアルも作りやすい大型モデルです🐭
Yes! Finally I have some kind of reference for my King Tiger Ardennes Front kit :D
Great job Andy! :)
Thank you
Really enjoy doing Tamiya king tiger, you just need to change the track and replace it with metal one and you get a really awesome king tiger. Good job, Andy!
I have this exact model and thanks to this video ,I have some more idea on how to paint and add some weathering Well done
Hey Andy, great build, and I love the paint scheme. Just a little tip if you want to go into tiny details, use something solid to bang up the mesh on the engine deck, it's just a nice little detail to add.
Cheers
everytime you make a new video it makes me happy! love your videos.
Thanks Andy I prefer the order that you give us where you don't put things together that will obstruct painting. Why don't the model companies give construction order like this
As always, a beautiful build. My first model was zvezda king tiger.
If you want something novel, try zvezda kits. They're pretty cheap, with good detail and easy to build.
Zvezda has an interesting feature in their panther ausf d kit, it has single link plastic tracks which, when built, are fully workable and they sag realistically.
Can't say the same about king tiger tracks, single link tracks that aren't workable so you really do have to think ahead when building.
Zvezda is a solid manufacturer. Shame it's hard to get there kits due to the war now.
I’m getting one of these for my birthday and I can’t wait and I’m getting metal tracks so basically LEZZZ GO
Nice, another quality build, I remember building this one as a kid, loved the box art and the film battle of the bulge, with Robert Shaw, nice film if you've seen it, although they used different tanks to represent shermans and king tigers
The movie Battle of the Bulge with Robert Shaw. They used u.s Persian tanks for the Germans. And u.s chaffie tanks for the Americans. The Persian tanks might be even a M-40 u.s tank.
@@refealibazeta7886 Also, I recall readingthe following: Contrary to what the German propaganda films show, King Tigers were not part of the main assault during the Battle of the Bulge. The King Tigers were considered too slow & unreliable for a mission that required rapid advance in muddy winter conditions, so Panthers, PzKpfW IVs, Jagpanzer IVs, and StuG IIIs/IVs were used. However, once the main German thrust was halted & the Allies went on the offensive, they did encounter some King Tigers.
hi sir i have a lot of fun and very fruitful time watching your videos, i have to say this i learned a lot.. and i look forward to new videos ahead.. ill keep watching!!
Hi Andy, I follow youre channel for a long time and just made this kit Youre video was a great help and i learnt a real lot from it. I'v seen this tank live in La Gleize (Belgium). Thanks gr from the Netherlands.
Never would I have though about the card to paint the camo dots on. Amazing job! I need to graduate highschool and get back into this when I have a job 😄
Nice one Andy I built one of those years ago, your painting is far better than mine I did enjoy my model building a great deal got a lot out of the hobby.
i love that build, I just built the 1/48 king tiger/tiger 2 yesterday!(but I lost both of the machine guns including the second armament gun)
Incredible job as always Andy. I have this model so the post really helped. Awesome job on the camoflauge.
Thanks for sharing Andy !
thanks for watching
Very nice love the camo. The dots really do make a difference. Steve U.K.
Looks great Andy👍 Love the ambush scheme pattern
great build of this excellent tamiya kit . well done Andy
Another great one Andy, keep them coming buddy! 👌👍👏
Thank you
What I use to hold parts like the fenders is the tack putty. Found in office/school supplies. Teachers use it to put up posters etc with out damaging the wall and paper.
I think you will find the reason you had to take a few tracks links out are the position of the tension idler wheel arm is pointing down on the Tamiya King Tiger. And on the dragon King Tiger model, the arm is more to the rear-end thus requiring more links, the idlers are also a tension arm to take up slack in the track as it stretches out due to wear in the pin
joints.
All the Tiger 2’s I’ve seen in person had rubber tired wheels. That includes Bovington, Aberdeen proving Grounds in the early 70’s, ( before the move to the museum at Knox, and the La Gleize, Belgium one in the late 80’s. I don’t doubt there were some because of the quality rubber shortage, but I have yet to see one. Good job.
great build bro, Love the King Tiger! would love to see you build the new King Tiger by Takom with Interior!!
thank you
The 332 decal is more like something Valentino Rossi would use!
Just ordered this online, along with the 1/35 Tamiya German loading crew for my next diorama project.
Arme y pinte esta maravillosa maqueta hace 35 años atrás. La deje en casa de mi madre, pensando que estaria bien cuidada, pero no, finalmente después de 30 años, un sobrino la destruyo.
Nicee vid.
i have been making models for 40 years, made this same model some time back. i think yours is much more precise.
Also i think the individual track links look much better.
Beautiful job Andy! I wish your store was a little closer as I would definitely be a regular customer. Once again, well done. Cheers.
I try to get my King Tiger like this amazing paint job :)
As usual Andy, great video!!!
Truly thank you!!
From a disabled combat veteran single father of 2.
You re-energize the hobby for me.
Thank you Andy.
My kids and I must make the pilgrimage to your shop.
Truly looking forward to that someday soon .
God bless
Keep your videos coming!!!
How about RFM Afrika Corp Tiger I build and paint ?
Or the RFM M4A3E8 build and paint ?!?!
Cheers!!!!!!
Thank you Don I appreciate the kind words.
I love your videos Andy, I like the paints showcase and also how you explain everything .. really informative.
My brother did very good job with the same kit . But he made 233 with it's original camo. Exact same camo pattern with a brusch :D
You have such a nice squeaky voice, you could sing in a boys' choir...
Tamiya 1/48 scale is awsome, some of them even have a die-cast chasis, it feels so solid, but I do have difficluties on installing the wheels and tracks. I hope you could build a 1/48 next time
I have in the past.I might do the new type 10 just got them in they look great.
Love these fantastic videos, a wealth of information and advice, a👍
下地色はダークイエローなんですね❗
勉強になりました❗
Excellent build Andy, and a great tip for the dot pattern👌👍
watching from phillipines good work
Amazing Paintjob! love your videos ! Keep going please! :)
Im building the very same kit, and it is very helpful to watch your vids!!!
Really neat build, with ample weathering that gives a very realistic look.
Great techniques, and a great video!
Keep up the good work!
Thanks
Turned out great! I really liked the camo pattern you did for it to.
Hello mr.andy!great splendid awesome build!keep it up and keep the faith.with sticky greetings from Brandenburg/germany.your modellmate.christian
brilliant video Andy well done mate
Thank you
Andy if you keep going this way your going to run out of Tamiyas........................you did a great job on the camo
Thank you , I have some new new modern armor coming soon not from Tamiya, stay tuned
That reminded me of disneyland music and i liked it, You could maybe play some of the disneyland music in future videos? Its basically the same as classic but more cheerful
Brilliant model... wow
Thanks Andy
Superb build and painting session Andy, very well done indeed!
Many thanks for these inspirational videos, they are so useful and interesting for me and I am sure many other modellers too.
JJ
thank you
On my Tamiya, the tracks were too short. I added the Tamiya individual link set and it worked really well. I wanted to use the rubber band tracks to mock it up while I was waiting and they were so tight that I was afraid to break off parts trying to stretch them on. Forget about any track sag with those!
yeah i used some dragon tracks they were just right
Excellent job, Andy!!!
Yeah me too have the same king tiger (dragon) which I will try and replicate !
Awesome King Tiger
Thanks MUCH for posting. GREAT JOB!
As always good job ! Andy when you make some airplane ? I would like to see your airplane work ! :)
very nice kit, and paint job.
Cant wait to get mine
...LOVE IT SO MUCH Andy.!
Thanks for posting--learned a few good tips.
May I just point out, that by this late stage in the war, all Panzers were out-shopped in red-oxide primer, without any yellow base coat. They were them overpainted in camouflage patterns using dark yellow and then dark green. The reason for this is because paint was by then in very short supply. Therefore the red colour was in fact oxide primer only!
That's not true. IIRC they were all coated in base yellow, and in late 1944 were changed to a base dark green. I don't recall any red paint
glad to see the Google plus group is going so well Andy
thank you
Andy's Hobby Headquarters
beautiful kit. As always.
Those little hooks on the engine deck omg. You have like 9 or 12 of them on the Trumpeter E100. Looks like theyre a little easier to put in here though. The Vallejo Washes are ok but I find a good oil wash much better and its better for fixinf the Pigments in place
Great paint jobs and weathering Andy . However there is a bad news: You used the wrong tracks for this . This KT had standard 9 tooth drive sprocket and the tracks must be the standard two parts ( like those spare on the turret sides). Yours is the late, one part only tracks for 18 tooth sprocket version, which was not on this vehicle :).
Thank you. Very nice.
good build an vid again Andy ..........Looks like you forget to paint the bowmaschinegun
9:00 you could put the skirts in place with patafix and then remove them after painting
thanks Andy for this great video !
I got this!!!!!! I can't wait to start it. Jesus - this makes the Matilda III I'm just finishing look like a Tonka toy. Such a basic, tiny piece of crap. Not surprised the Brits were scared of Panzers.
Very nice painting
Good build
your the best tank painter and builder ever good job Andy i ame subscribd ;)
Very nice!
great build!
I always loved the box art of Tamiya very much. This Tiger is again very well painted, but look at the commander in the turret. Isn't he a little to big?
My favorite national ( about WW2 and tanks ) is Germany and my favorite tank is tiger one and king tiger. How about you?
Panzer iv ausf c
Panther Ausf G
United Kingdom or Britain
+Fraser Bathgate oh... nice. Greting from Russia. :)
Greetings from Britain :)
Nice job Andy! Much appreciated!
Awesome!
I built this way back in 2000 something and I noticed you could have added some more details like electric cable for the light, weld seams from body putty and the little pieces to the front fenders that are missing from this Tamiya model.
Your paint jobs are phenomenal what I´ve seen, much better than what I´m able to do. I´ve more eye for technical details I guess.
