Fun video ! 😃 We flew balsa in the 70’s through the 90’s. We flew in the mornings or late in the afternoons in calmer wind. We always faced north to avoid being blinded by the sun. We smelled like castor oil and Off bug spray. But , I am impressed by how the hobby continues to change for the better. Great review on a cool plane Cap !! 😎
nice one Steve, V3 looks great and very powerful, I went out flying yesterday three of us at our field, and one hour later yep bucketed down great review again Captain.
Have a futaba transmitter and receiver have thefutura 64 and reflex three Question howq qcan you direct and tell which switch on the transmitter that controels the gyro made?. Thanks for your videos
The gyro (REFLEX) always uses whichever channel you select in your radio. Most people stick it on channel 5,6, if using a six channel receiver, and channel 7 or 8 if using an 8 channel receiver.
Holy Crap Captain !!! thank goodness you had to return to refit the Camera as there were the "flock" (well....6 birds flying over!!!) ; would love to have this RC however would have to enroll in a NASA flight program to work it out !!
Hi Steve it's a question about the v3 reflex can the servo,s be reversed and or the gyro direction ? In the settings I,m no going to use it in a fms plane I want to use it in a volantex G2 , you explain things very well in your video 👍
You’ll know if it is working correctly with your reversed servos by simply holding the plane in the air and pitching it forward, backwards, rolling it left, right, and watching to see that each time you do this, the servos automatically move to compensate and pull the plane back level.
How does it handle trims ? For example if you use the stabilize mode on a maiden to get to a safe altitude then switch to manual mode to trim the plane can you then transfer those trim settings to the Reflex after landing ?
If you trim out any plane that has a gyro, the plane will fly pretty much the same. You see, the reason you trim a plane is because, say it is slightly banking to the left, so when you fly it you compensate by pulling left to fly straight. A gyro automatically does that for you. So, when you trim, you are trimming for yourself so when joysticks are centered the plane flies straight and level. A gyro does this for you regardless of trim.
I got it now I forgot to plug in elevator and rudder when installing the back half of the fuselage. All good now my friend but the weather in Cape Breton is terrible so I can’t fly anyway. Lol 😂
How does this compare to the Eagle A3 Super 4 Airplane Gyro? I know the Eagle has a "stunt" mode and "hover" mode to help with 3D training. Can the Reflex V3 do that as well?
This plane has 7 channels. The normal 6 channels including flaps, then one more channel for reverse thrust, which means I placed the REFLEX select on channel 8 of my receiver.
Can this gyro be used in .60 sized glow aerobatic aircraft? If so how would one set it up? I've never used gyros in any plane but seems like it would have some benefits
So when you hand launch with reflex 3, you turn on stability mode? And land with stability mode too ? Thx... ❤❤ Does stability limit the control of the stick ?
Great vid! I'm a newbie but currently trying to learn without a gyro for a couple reasons. My reflex v2 on my PC-21 seems to have malfunctioned and caused a couple big crashes so I pulled it from my Kingfisher as well. But the reason I'm sticking with it is to hush the dinosaurs 🤣. I'll be putting gyros back in my birds, but I want have the dinosaur skills with modern technology... so I can fly inverted just inches away from my face 🤣🤣👊🏿
If I have a freewing F16 70mm, can I use reflex v3 and choose the FMS F16 model set up for my Freewing F16 70mm. Or use FMS Bae hawk 80mm set up for my Freewing Hawk 70mm? Thanks
Hi Steve a absolutely beautiful Jet and absolutely love your channel if possible if you can find it a review on a Canadian force’s Snowbirds CT 114 Tutor Jet would be fantastic as this Jet is near and dear to my heart I flew one when I was in the RCAF thank you again Steve ❤Sincerely Captain Richard
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 That strategy would also work with the version 2. FMS seems to be pitching working with non FMS models an advantage of reflex version 3.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 thanks. I will try some reflex gyros. Love to try stabilizer for taking off and landing :-) . Just use throttle, and flare with elevators to touch down.
Such a shame FMS is not sending planes and accessories to Canada anymore. You can order in the US site and they ship from China. Not many FMS planes at Canadian dealers now either. Shame as FMS do really good stuff. Nice video Steve . Lots of useful info as usual.
Ive see others use that spectrum 6ch reciver i think ita what controller you may be using and or thr plane makes you use 6chs standard but ive seen them used so mabey not say you cannot use it...i think you me you in your situation cant use it u have landing gear and sutch so.eonne without gear can in fact use it
Haven’t checked on this channel for a while. Glad you’re still droning
If you are having difficulty telling them apart, the v2 has v2 written on it and the v3 has v3 written on it, lol. Nice video capt.

I have a plane with ailerons and elevator,no rudder..can you still put a gyro in it?.
Yes, absolutely
Gorgeous plane, great demonstration, thanks for another entertaining and informative video.
Does the reflex need to be mounted securely in the plane if I don't use Bluetooth?
Must be mounted VERY secure
Does it support a s-bus or better still CRSF input from the receiver ?
I should have first checked the manual - it does support s-bus/ppm input

there seems to be no mechanism for the selection of a channel , am using the sbus connection to hook up to the reflex
I'm amazed at how much information you can share, thanks
More to come!

Still the best Pilot and content creator! Reviews always spot on. Thanks Cap!
Thank you!
Can i use an old 35 mhz futaba 6 channel receiver wirh the fms reflex???

@@CAPTAINDRONE798 yes but I also want to fly without the gyro so isn’t it important to trim the plane?
@@spitfire7617yes, absolutely
Great job and gyro, which gyro would you recommend for an epp 3D model.? Cheers in advance 🎉
I got it now I forgot to plug in elevator and rudder when installing the back half of the fuselage. All good now my friend but the weather in Cape Breton is terrible so I can’t fly anyway. Lol 😂
Nice video and review, Can I use my TX16S to fly fixed wing? Is it easy to setup?
Yes.
Excellent video, Captain! Thanks
Glad you enjoyed it!
Gyros were made with me in mind. Amazing video with lots of good information. 👍👍😀
How does this compare to the Eagle A3 Super 4 Airplane Gyro? I know the Eagle has a "stunt" mode and "hover" mode to help with 3D training. Can the Reflex V3 do that as well?
The A3 Super 4 is much better..
Question do I have to remove my model plane from my transmitter to rebind a new receiver to the same plane?
Nope.
To what pin on the 8 channel receiver did you connect the SBUS/PPM/MODE cable? The instructions show a 6 channel receiver and it going to #6.
This plane has 7 channels. The normal 6 channels including flaps, then one more channel for reverse thrust, which means I placed the REFLEX select on channel 8 of my receiver.
But awsome channel very helpful and you always manage ti stay on subject and not far off course tha ks for that
Can this gyro be used in .60 sized glow aerobatic aircraft? If so how would one set it up? I've never used gyros in any plane but seems like it would have some benefits
You can use it in any plane that uses a receiver
can i turn it off on two position switch? my transmitter have only two position switch
Yes, but then you have to set up your switch range in your radio
What camera is being used on the plane I wonder??
The link to the camera is in the links below the video.
So when you hand launch with reflex 3, you turn on stability mode? And land with stability mode too ? Thx... ❤❤ Does stability limit the control of the stick ?
With stability on, you can’t roll or flip the plane. You do have to move the joysticks a bit further than usual when turning.

Great video! Trying to set up the v3 in a non fms plane...
Really love your content I am still learning to fly fpv and enjoy your content
Awesome, thank you!
Which direction is the gyro suppose to face?
As mentioned in the video…. When you select an FMS MODEL you’ll see a photo of the orientation of the gyro.
If I have a freewing F16 70mm, can I use reflex v3 and choose the FMS F16 model set up for my Freewing F16 70mm. Or use FMS Bae hawk 80mm set up for my Freewing Hawk 70mm? Thanks
Yes, no problem. Just make certain you place the REFLEX V3 in the position shown for the plane and in the orientation shown.
Can you reverse the servo direction? The V2 can not do that
I don't recall seeing such a setting. I'm not sure.
Which receiver would you recommend for the FMS T-28 V4?
Any 6 channel receiver. Just get the one that binds with whichever radio you own.

I have not seen any mass produced RC Tutor jets in FOAM format.
I got the pa-18 1300mm with the reflex v3 and the ailerons and throttle won’t bind up everything else works.
Sounds like it is connected wrong or servos are amiss.
Nice 👍 I think gyros are good for the hobby
I would like to see you setup a non-FMS model with the Reflex V3. Is there a recommended start position for the gains?
I leave everything on auto and just pick an FMS MODEL that is similar to the non-FMS model I’m placing it in.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 That strategy would also work with the version 2. FMS seems to be pitching working with non FMS models an advantage of reflex version 3.
Good morning captain really great video cool information
How do I switch modes or put on a switch
If you don’t know how to setup your radio (whichever one you own) then search for a video on how to setup an airplane model and assign switches.
Nice plane great detail
awsome video Captain
flying fantastic
I Have NX8 , can I use 10 channel RX for this plane? Thx
Yes
