Hello Stefanus, nice and interesting video! I'm an owner of a Victoria, I was for some time thinking to buy the Mara X. But I make only espresso and I decided to get the Victoria. I updated with IMS filter baskets and the IMS shower screen, the espresso is very good. I'm using the original Lelit tamper 58.55mm, a leveller and I also use the trick from Sprometheus to put a piece of paper on top of the puck to avoid channelling. My Victoria tends to make 4 little holes in the puck, using the paper this will not happen. As you have the Mara X also, I'm wondering about your opinion. How much better is the espresso with the Mara X with the legendary E61 group head? Or are they close only considering espresso brewing?
Hi Hans, i guess this means your water flow to fast from grouphead and maybe your grind setting a little too coarse. What you can do is make finer grind setting and use pre infusion mode in Victoria. If your local dealer can help you reduce water flow would be great. In Victoria you have to make sure that your grouphead is really ready, i know LCC shows OK really fast but grouphead may not be ready. One way is to buy a strip temperature sticker. You can check my instagram: amateur_coffee_enthusiast to see the exact sticker i'm talking about
@@StefanusGoana Hello Stefanus, thank you a lot for the answer. The extraction time is between 25s and 30s for 30ml of espresso and preinfusion is active, but there are often this 4 holes, maybe they aren't normally going through the puck, it's then an uneven surface of the puck, but clearly the extraction is uneven then. The "holes" are located next to 4 of the 8 water exits from the shower. I read about this effect also from other users. I will check if using 30s or more reduces the effect. Thank you a lot for your suggestions. Br Hans
Paper on the puck? Do you have a video on that? IM not sure you need to use paper. This is a high end machine and if there is channeling, like Stefanus said, adjusting the grind or even working the tamper more should avoid channeling.
@@xlifewritex Hello, see this video from Sprometheus. In my case I have now consistent shots with a plan puck surface. I solved the issue I had and I tried a lot before. I will not go back. The Espresso is now excellent and constistent with no exceptions. Br Hans ruclips.net/video/xxmkPVqvopM/видео.html
@@Bergkette Thanks. I took a look at the video. While the use of a filter can certainly lead to slowing down extraction, even shots, and stronger shots. I'm not sure for me it's worth messing around with. Look at the stats on that video. ---- 9.49 TDS with no filter. Then with filters whether below, both, top it was higher but not by much. Yes, it will be higher with a filter as a filter slows extraction which leads to slightly stronger coffee but is the AVERAGE Joe going to notice that tiny fraction? Also, now you have to factor filters into your pricing per shot, and time messing around with cutting them. I could understand using filters if the percentage was huge like 5.0 TDS with no filter and 10 TDS with a filter. But we are talking about a 0.40 difference with one filter or 0.50 difference with two filters (top and bottom). I don’t see the value in that nor do I think the average joe will even notice that. In my mind again, this is where using the pressure gauge and playing around with different GRIND settings can improve extraction. If the espresso is too weak, chances are the grind is too coarse and too much water is getting through too fast ( leading to channeling and weaker coffee). Adjust your grind, play around with tamping and you may not have to use a paper filter. Now having said that, maybe the victoria machine is causing channeling issues and the grind and tamping is fine. In which case filters would be useful. But it's a sad fix for an expensive machine that shouldn't require them. But each to their own method. Thanks for sharing that video.
@@StefanusGoana Hmm, I guess it would be the vibration of the pump in combination with the relative light weight of the tray and the grid, then. My old Rancilio Silvia, like most home machines, has a vibration pump, too. But the Silvia has a heavy build in comparison with little Vicky here, weighhing about 14 kg. It's noisy as well, but the tray doesn't rattle. To be clear: Did Lelit just put rubber underneath the tray, or did they put bits of thin rubber tubing on the grid, too, where it rests on the tray? This might help additionally. It's a bit like with stereo speakers, I guess: They'll rattle if you put them on a sideboard without rubber pucks between sideboard and speaker, even if the feet of the sideboard are buffered. I think in some forum or review, somebody mentioned adding rubber tubing to the grid, fixing the problem. I guess an additional simple fix might be just to put something heavy (or just your hand) on the grid when starting the pump. I heard of some users complaining about the general level of noise Vicky makes. Some of the more tech savvy among them suggested or tried adding a pulsor to the pump, like the Mara X has. The Mara is a really silent machine, friends of mine own it and I was baffled that it doesn't even disturb a conversation while it's running! Then, I think some people mentioned that there isn't really enough space in the Victoria to fit the pulsor, or the pump is too hard to access to actually fit it, or something like that. I guess I wouldn't go that far, anyway, and rather just put a hand against the side of the machine while it's running...
@@negligiblethreat Actually we can upgrade with silent pump that is in MaraX. Silvia is pretty long in the market so i guess they had upgrade based on user experience. This Vicky comes with great LCC that us just amazing
@@StefanusGoana Thanks for the info! I live in Germany, so I might check whether the upgrade option exists here. I guess so, as some licensed German Lelit re-sellers offer service on a Lelit, and replacement of parts like the pump should be easy for them. The LCC would be exactly be the thing motivating me to replace my trusty old Silvia with smart little Vicky. My Silvia is a V1, so: No pump upgrade in there, definitely. And it IS a really noisy machine, but the heavy build keeps the tray from rattling. You're actually the only seller I know of who's honest enough to even mention the rattling tray or noise issues in his video. Much respect for that!
How do you feel about Victoria compared to Elisabeth or Mara X regarding the quality of the shot? I know Elisabeth is dual boiler but I do not need it for 2-3 coffees every day so I was looking at the Victoria also because it seems to have a shorter heating time compared to Mara X which is also single boiler but 1.8L. What do you think about the differences between these 3?
If you really tight on budget then Victoria more than enough. But if you have the money, no matter what the feeling is different. The whole experience of making coffer is alot more fun to do with MaraX or Elizabeth. warming up time you can always use smart plug. Using Victoria down the road you will want to upgrade then should go to Bianca, your upgrade will be very satisfiying.

@@KimMoonbmwmoonie Time will tell. I will have this new Victoria tomorrow. My Gaggia (despite the downfalls) would take about 2 seconds to purge water out of the tube. Then it was ALL steam. I think by watching your video--it eventually turned to all steam? At least I hope it does because if it doesn't, then it is adding water into the milk....which then adds water ultimately into the espresso which is a watered down yuck. Thanks.
Cool! And i did came across of Clive Coffee's manual on doing the OPV adjustment: support.clivecoffee.com/en/lelit-victoria-adjusting-pump-pressure-opv TBH sounds like a good video material since I don't see anyone make one on YT yet! ;)
For my taste and logically thinking it was not long extraction. As different machines use different spec pumps and builds pressure within different times and especially with pre-infusion we could end up with totally different times etc. I know that within around 20-30 seconds we should get 2x-2.2x amount of extracted liquid/espresso. So from 16g of coffe - around 32 - 35,2 g of espresso). But what I found interesting is that Lelit Victoria is building pressure slowly in comparison to other machines and pressure is higher than 9 bars straight from factory. What does it means? For first - higher pressure means liquid will be pushed through coffee with higher force =faster that with 9 bars. We can check this with plant spraying equipment - higher pressure more water comes out within same time. For second we should not actually count extraction time from pressing button especially when got pre-infusion (but Lelit time will not count it anyway). And another thing is that it takes some time to build max pressure - for me even 3-4 seconds O_o. And sometimes after this working pressure is reached I need to wait 3-5 seconds to see first drop (with pre-infusion on) but when I start counting after first drop it goes normally so within 23-26 seconds I got 2x-2,2x extraction. With different coffee blend I got that I got first drop immediately when pressure is reached with same flow rate 23-26seconds 2x-2.2x extraction. So everything can vary here and to be on safe side I believe is to kind of play with times within one particular blend of coffee to get best results. write it down and use it all the time. And who cares its longer or shorter, if it taste supreme (if we can say this in terms of espresso anyway). I prefer to drink cortado or latte/cappuccino, but drink shots from time to time if in hurry... but always try a sip of extracted coffee and to check if its dialed in correctly to my particular taste. I'm still learning, but what I believe is most important for someone who bought machine to make coffee himself is to find his own perfect recipe for best tasting espresso that hits their favored flavor... and not to try to hit some other people timings etc. At least I believe so...

I am coming from a gaggia classic and want to upgrade to lelit, would the Anna 2 be suitable upgrade? I don’t know which is their entry level (above the features of the gaggia classic)? Is the Victoria above the Anna 2 in performance? Sorry for stupid questions
Hi Aziz, there no stupid question. For upgrade i think depends on your budget. For Anna 2 i don't really see much upgrade and it is 57mm grouphead, could be a little down grade hahaha... but anna comes with additional pressure gauge. Victoria is a big upgrade with all the features and more powerful steam, however still single boiler you have switch and wait between coffee brewing and steaming. If you can stretch your budget a little more then go for MaraX or Elizabeth for maximum comfort and speed in preparing coffee.
@@StefanusGoana Thanks for you answer, the upgrade for me would be that the anna 2 has a PID so I don't have to guess the temperature. Also I don't mind waiting for changing between shots and steam, when the routine is there it is ok :) . I mostly drink myself but occasionally my wife wants a latte... From what I have read is that the 57mm is not a standard and that it is harder to find parts for it. But those who have that in mind also think ahead a couple of years and think of upgrading later on... meaning they think of it being harder to sell the portafilter etc since it not being a standard... but for me I won't be upgrading. I just want a solid machine that will last and is consistent with the shots and steam. one more reason why I want to change machine is the aluminium boiler in the gaggia due to risk of health reasons...again.. maybe silly but this is not something I constantly want to think of when enjoying my coffee
I'm between the Grace and the Vic, but I'd love 58 mm. Just a steep price for that one extra feature. Is the OPV set to 11 bar, same as Grace? Edit: sweet bluesy guitar :)
I think pump pressure can always be adjusted so not too worry. 58mm atleast next upgrade machine will not be bigger than 58mm LOL You can always re use your accessories such as bottomless portafilter, Filter basket (VST, EMS,etc) Portafilter holder or hanger, etc al of them you can still use so think of the future benefit instead of buying everything new again
@@StefanusGoana Yeah I feel like with 57 mm I'd just get the Anna PID save a lot of money and then keep wondering if VST was better. Think I'll keep using my current grinder for a month or two, get the more expensive machine and then when I get a good grinder I'll know why people insist on them haha... and yes I know it's adjustable. In the Anna you can take the top off, Grace and Vic need a bit more work to access the OPV. hi, thank you for the video. I want to ask about the bar pressure. I came across numerous articles in many forums that the pressure should be reduced to 9 bar. Do you think this is really necessary? Is it worth trying to lower the pressure
Hi Eren, it is so easy to reduce its pressure. Seriously one of these days i will make a video about that. Super easy and so i think its worth to try
@@StefanusGoana I'm curious if you've made that video? :) I'm interested in getting one of these machines and I too have heard that lowering the opv achieves much better results.
@@jadesierra7691 hi sorry i have not because the machine was sent to few youtubers to test it and it never came back to me
@@jadesierra7691 Just search there is a guide for both Anna and Victoria. Same on Grace and Vic, takes a bit more work than on Anna, since the OPV is kinda hidden.
Thanks for sharing that video.
would you consider this a good upgrade from the sage bambino? i found a used victoria for 500€ and am considering getting it.
Haha yes for sure, you get 58mm grouphead plenty to play with

Hi, so how did you fix the rattling tray? Just put some small rubber pucks underneath the grid?
Hi i did not try to fix the rattling tray, there is already small rubber placed from factory. I think source of the problem is the vibration pump

@@StefanusGoana budget is not an issue but still don't want to spend more than its needed. I now have a Gaggia Clasic Pro and I am not happy as I cannot dial in the grind. I use quite fine grind because I use light roast coffee and the Gaggia will boy work with that. I don't enjoy the experience of the Mara or the lever action, I honestly prefer the simple button activation so looking only at the performance not the experience difference between the two.
@@muresansergiubohdan i don't think therr is anytjing wrong with your Gaggia. May i know what is your grinder?

@@muresansergiubohdan you have a decent equipment. Perhaps need to upgrade your skill first.
Wats videos about how to dial in and avoid sourness in espress. You make think you need to go finer but infact finer create channeling and therefore underextracted and becomes sour. For medium roast you can increase your dose and pull a longer shot it may increase the extraction and long enough to squeeze all the juice perfectly.
I have a Gaggia Classic & notice when you purge the water out of the steam tube with the Victoria, the water seems to take a long time to come out before turning to just steam. With my Classic, I only have to purge for a couple seconds before it turns to steam. Am I imagining it taking a long time with the Victoria?
i am going to guess its because the Gaggia has a smaller boiler than the Victoria so it heats up faster.
@@KimMoonbmwmoonie Time will tell. I will have this new Victoria tomorrow. I wish I would have watched your video closer before ordering--as it seemed like it took forever for the water to be purged out of the steam tube. Thanks.
Thanks for sharing your experience with the machine Stefanus! Just curious if Victoria runs at 9 bar pressure during the extraction?
It comes with about 10-12 bars, but you can always change it, not the easiest thing on earth but doable by any home barista
Cool! And i did came across of Clive Coffee's manual on doing the OPV adjustment: support.clivecoffee.com/en/lelit-victoria-adjusting-pump-pressure-opv
TBH sounds like a good video material since I don't see anyone make one on YT yet!
Can you tell me if the water reservoir is very hard to get out? I read a review where the person said it was a super tight fit, hard to remove & cut themself with all the sharp metal around it. Also, I'm confused, never had a PID on a machine. They say for medium to medium dark roasts--one should put the temp to 198° to 200°. I'm confused I thought you said the brew temps goes to 95° Thanks for the help.
Hi its not really that tight and i don't understand why anyone would get cut just to remove it.
Temperature 95 Celcius equals to 203 Fahrenheit. So you must have heard Fahrenheit isntead of celcius

@@AzizIzgin Glad you have the right way if thinking. With anna 2 you will be super happy every morning, cheers..
I'm between the Grace and the Vic, but I'd love 58 mm. Just a steep price for that one extra feature. Is the OPV set to 11 bar, same as Grace? Edit: sweet bluesy guitar :)
I think pump pressure can always be adjusted so not too worry. 58mm atleast next upgrade machine will not be bigger than 58mm LOL
You can always re use your accessories such as bottomless portafilter, Filter basket (VST, EMS,etc) Portafilter holder or hanger, etc al of them you can still use so think of the future benefit instead of buying everything new again
If I ever make a lot of money I will start a coffee machine company, similar to Lelit but all machines 58 mm and set to 9 bar with an adjustable OPV including instructions. :)
