Since 1962, The Dubliners have been enthralling audiences worldwide with their music and song. The strength and attractiveness of The Dubliners has always been in the personalities of the musicians who have made up this boisterous band of balladeers, from original members, Ronnie Drew, Barney McKenna, Luke Kelly, Ciarán Bourke, John Sheahan and Bob Lynch to the arrival at different stages of Jim McCann, Seán Cannon, Eamonn Campbell and finally the peerless Paddy Reilly.

We are very proud of Ireland. I'm sure your are proud of Brazil. For us the Irish music is on our hearts, our soul. All around the world, people love it. Many of our songs are about our history and conflict with England. We keep these songs alive as part of our shared history to the world. 🇮🇪🇧🇷
@@martincaldwellcaldwell3970 Many of us English Love the Irish and their culture make no mistake. It's governments NOT the people.
Irish Pride is Unmatched. No peoples of any country are as proud as us Irish!

Vocalist's voice is so benevolent and benignant.
'Twas better to die 'neath that Irish sky
Than at Sulva or Sud-El-Bar 🇨🇮✊🏻
Brilliant song
Lyrics:
It was down the glen one Easter morn to a city fair rode I.
There Armed lines of marching men in squadrons passed me by.
No fife did hum, nor battle drum, did sound its dread tattoo.
But the Angelus bell o'er the Liffey swell rang out through the foggy dew.
Right proudly high over Dublin Town they hung out the flag of war.
'Twas better to die 'neath an Irish sky than at Sulva or Sud El Bar.
And from the plains of Royal Meath, strong men came hurrying through.
While Britannia's Huns, with their long range guns, sailed in by the foggy dew.
'Twas England bade our Wild Geese go, that small nations might be free.
But their lonely graves are by Sulva's waves or the fringe of the Great North Sea.
Oh, had they died by Pearse's side or fought with Cathal Brugha,
Their names we would keep where the Fenians sleep, 'neath the shroud of the foggy dew.
But the bravest fell, and the solemn bell rang mournfully and clear,
For those who died that Eastertide in the springtime of the year.
And the world did gaze, in deep amaze, at those stout-hearted men, but few,
Who bore the fight that freedom's light might shine through the foggy dew.
Back to the glen I rode again, and my heart with grief was sore.
For I parted with those valiant men, I never will see no more.
And to and fro in my dreams I will go, I'll kneel and I'll pray for you,
Oh, slavery fled, ye rebel dead, when ye fell 'neath the foggy dew.
Nice version. What a voice Paddy had!
Love this song

Thank you!
You're welcome!
Kudos to Ireland, Foggy Dew is a great song, especially this version, it represents the gracious Irish spirit of defiance. To us Macedonians especially it is valued because we feal connected since early 20th century when Roger Casement has supported our Macedonian St Elias uprising of 1903, and Macedonian liberation from the Ottoman Empire. We are proud for Ireland's success, especially that remembrance and admiration is alive today in the city of Bitola, because Ireland has thrived, but Macedonia is still struggling with the consequences, since it was divided in 1912 by Greece, Serbia and Bulgaria, Christian neighbors that proved to be even greater despots and tyrants for Macedonians than the Muslim Ottomans. Erin go Bragh!
God bless you and thank you for telling this story

lol, Macedonia was freed by Serbias arms, dont sell those fairy tales here.
With us Serbs you were Macedonians, today you are Northern Macedonia...so yea..we ocupied you. Enjoy ,, freedom".
Southern US Scots-Irish here. Many of us feel for our cousins so oppressed.
Scots-Irish in Ireland here. Don't feel at all oppressed, actually !
@@barryfrazer4304 Not since the Good Friday agreement, perhaps. I was thinking about the "troubles" and how much the British Army acted like the Federals during the Reconstruction after the American Civil War.
Never mind the English unfortunately the Scots and the Irish were a massive part of the problem over the Easter Rising.

Great job boys, absolute class as always! I just think it's such a shame that Canon O'Neill when he wrote the song mentioned "The MEN" at least 4 times, but the WOMEN of the Rising = ZERO times. All honour to those great women of Cumman na mBan and the ICA, may their courage and loyalty to the cause during the struggle for freedom never be forgotten...God bless you all Ladies.❤
Indeed.Maud Gonne: Constance Gore Booth: Margaret Skinnider and so many more
Absolutely Tom Barry, no shrinking violet, said that without the women the the Cumman there would have been no winning. A young woman of the Cumman was sent by Michael Collins to Barry to enquire of a hostage Barry had taken. After reassurance from Barry she went back to Collins with the news. Later, Barry married her, brave girl, lovely woman - there were hundreds more. God Save Ireland.
Nice!
Love 💕 dis song 🤑 Lar
Hello Tonya, how are you doing today, hope you’re fine and safe from the Virus??
stupenda!!!
Quando scompariranno loro fino all'ultimo Dubliners ancora in attività, chissà se come nella migliore tradizione folklorica Irlandese andranno a riposare nel Sidhe, come i loro magici e mitologici antenati Tuatha De Danann!!!
If you don't know how to play the irish song - just give it to The Dubliners. And they will do it great.
My favorite part; T'was better to die neath an Irish sky than at Suvla or Sud El Bar
Sud El Bar (Seddülbahir) and Suvla is site for the landing at by the British during first world war. (in Çanakkale/Turkey)
we said then too; Canakkale is impassable.
Greetings to the free people of Ireland. People should not die anywhere other than their own homeland.
True, Turkish army out of Syria.
@@SDluka . Syria and Iraq are on our border. We are there to stop the constant terrorist attacks. We defend our homeland and our people. we don't kill people thousands of kilometers away
But your army kills people, mostly Kurds in neighbouring countries, by invading a piece of it.

Can anyone tell me what Barney shouts at 1:07? I'm not sure if he shouts 'c'mon!' or something else, but Paddy Reilly certainly seems a bit put off by it.
He shouts the word Up! Dat is een compliment in Ierse volksmuziek Roelof! :)
I think it was reference to co,meath where Barney is from , when Paddy sang, and from the plains of royal meath strong men came hurrying through. Co meath is known as the royal county,
put off? he smiled.
@@jjquinn6716 Because of Tara the ancient site of crowning the high kings?
@@jjquinn6716Barney wasn't from Co.Meath. He was born in Donnycarney, which is why he was known as "Banjo Barney From Donnycarney." He lived in Howth.
My Feet are attaping... again..
Why is George RR Martin playing the Banjo?
They say Sinead O'Conner's version of this song is the best, but after listening to this here rendition, I'm not so sure ...
Sinead has a beautiful voice, but I certainly prefer the Dubliners version.
I love both versions and honestly don't know if I can choose a favorite. I prefer this version of im in an upbeat mood or want to get amped up about doing something. But Sinead version to me is much deeper and somewhat haunting to listen to, so I prefer that version if I'm more down.
Poore Sinead , became a mosl.she died for me from this moment.
Sineads is more powerful in my opinion, sends a shiver down your spine. But the Dubliners version just has something about it
Luke Kelly's version is the best imo.
Does anyone know what say Barney mcKenna at 1.06?
He said "Rough" a show of the rivalry between (Royal) Meath and Dublin (been neighbours and huge rivals in Gaelic football) 😅
