- The NDP government is blocking more than a dozen incoming Filipino nurses from joining the Manitoba workforce in 2024.
PC Health Critic Kathleen Cook (MLA for Roblin) is calling on the NDP to stop putting politics over patients, help those nurses, and reinstate the Philippines healthcare recruitment program that the NDP defunded in December.

I have hassled PP for a couple of years because I just plainly don't like politicians, or liars, but I repeat myself. I was friends with a man who was elected to the Ontario legislature that did exactly what he promised to do, and he was basically disowned and kicked out of his own party. One thing I do know about politicos, is you can't trust a fucking thing they say, before or after an election, and that my friend is just plain wrong.

I’m all for foreign nurses passing an exam to be qualified in Canada and then write a second exam with a English or French language proficiency exam. They should have to speak a high level of native English or French to pass the exam before they’re qualified.

In Manitoba that may not yet be a crime but it is obviously sufficient grounds to bar someone from employment.
