I think Laura Stevenson is so slept on as an artist. The Big Freeze is definitely one of my favourite albums of all time and genres. she has her style but it doesn't feel repetitive.
I agree, she is slept on so hard. The Big Freeze feels like a big secret that only those in the know get to enjoy. It really is one of my favorite albums of all time. The new self-titled is great too.
Living Room, NY sends me over the moon. Something about it sonically, lyrically... it just hits all the right spots. And somehow, NPR Tiny Desk does it again and adds another layer to the magic of that song. Thank you to everyone involved, and of course thank you to Laura! I've seen her live now three times. She's phenomenal!
I love Laura so so so so much. Saw her at a tiny tiny show right down the street from my house in Rochester last year, and had a really nice chat with her about upcoming projects, and her worth with Jeff Rosenstock and the crew. Would love to see Jeff Rosenstock and the whole gang on here sometime soon!!!!!!!
I'd just been binge-watching a band called The Wonder Years and saw Laura on stage with them doing their song The Devil in my Bloodstream. Thought I'd look up who she was and came across this lil' concert. She has such a beautiful voice so now I'm off to binge-watch (binge-listen?) to more of her songs.
Every note, every nuance played with such beauty and authority! Laura’s vocals are flawless and very reminiscent of Judy Collins with a splash of Joni Mitchell. Another perfect setup by the Tiny Desk crew!
Laura hits me in a way that no other artist does. Her music is so effortless that even this feels three minutes long, yet it’s also so big that it feels like an hour long in the best way possible.
I heard NPR's Steven Thompson promoting this through a podcast and God I'm glad I followed his advice. Laura Stevenson plus this fantastic string trio sound celestial!
i know this is a more specialized version of her songs but does anyone know of people that have a similar sound to these select few the way their performed. particularly the first one?
Very wonderful...love the sound of the acoustic presentation. It is always so disappointing to then go to preview the album and find as with "The Big Freeze", all the orchestration that masks the beauty of her voice and is to me, so unnecessary. Thanks for this one, and BTW what is true of "Big Freeze" is true of so many others. I am an acoustic freak I guess.

Totally agree. The Big Freeze is a big little masterpiece.
I hope you have Laura back to perform songs from her new s/t album. I just adore her and really think she deserves so much more recognition.

That voice just cuts deep down into my soul... It's clear the depth of person and artist she is. Breathtaking.
Thank you Tiny Desk for featuring Laura Stevenson! She has been my absolute favorite artist for quite a while. The string accompaniment is stellar.

I kicked myself so hard. I saw that show happened after the fact. I had no idea!
Laura sings up a rainbow of beautiful sounds she caresses every word!
Love Laura’s music beyond proper description. She’s all the magical adjectives. Thrilled to see her on Tiny Desk.
I've been waiting for years for this to happen and just cried so much watching it. SO GOOD
Massively underrated, Laura is soooo good and this is a great performance and another tiny desk.

"LISTEN TO LAURA STEVENSON" -Jeff Rosenstock
This woman has been my music darling for almost 12 years now. Master of Art made me fall in love with her so hard.
Love Laura, so glad to see her here
I'm finding it extremely difficult to understand why anyone would give this a thumbs down, incredible performance from an amazing artist!

immaculate vocals in a gorgeous performance - made even more impressive by the fact she was pregnant! obsessed ❤❤
So excited to see Laura on here! The Big Freeze is an incredible album!
Just started listening to Laura's commentary albums and I highly recommend them!
Excellent set. Laura Stevenson is the best. Listen to her records and don't miss her on tour!
I got really surprised when listened that it's the first time with a string section: the match is perfect!
This was amazing. "Lay Back, Arms Out" and "Living Room, NY" were my two favorite songs from last year.

This is not Vulfpeck.
so wait a minute, does no one hear the woman she is copying and channeling...does anyone know or appreciate the very very awesome Kasey Chambers??

Liking the strings but the vocalists over done vibrato is irritating.
Yeah, I hate to agree with you, Neil, but you're right.
I, in contrast to you, find the singer's vibrato most beautiful. Only the vibrato makes her voice unique and very appealing to me.
It’s natural vibrato, not forced. It’s fast, but natural.
@@amarmot3635 Whatever she sounds like a lamb calling for her mother.
Can't tell if the Japanese guy is 20 or a hundred. That's how i'm 100% sure he is in fact Japanese.
