    I bought the black Ocean of Storms as a stylish back up to my every day Rolex Explorer for when I go to mugging zones. With an after market Artem sailcloth strap it got quite expensive but still a reasonably priced alternative to a 'proper' fifty fathoms which would be too valuable to actually use on a daily basis and as it is sealed for life, I don't have to worry about the expense of getting it serviced which is a source of anxiety with Rolex.
    Still see the original all plastic Tag Heuer F1 for sale in working order which is now around 35 years old so plastic watches can endure the test of time.

      Congrats on your purchase, and stay safe when in mugging zones. I have a new video about watch crime coming up. I'm sure Swatch did the r&d when designing the system 51 movement. But how long will it last? Only time will tell.

      I think I share the same thoughts. This Oceans of Storms seems exactly what I want (after I sold my Explorer 2), cheap and light weight. I really did not see that I need for a luxury item on my wrist (the Rolex), I need a functional watch which I can use all the time. And yes the servicing, for the Rolex, the cost is 70% of the value of the Swatch. I have other watches, digital and mechanical, I still have them for years and no issues.
      Question: is it being over hyped on the quality of the movement? I've never owned a Swatch so I do not know its durability. Any opinion would be welcomed.
      Mugging zones, LOL. yes another reason why I sold the Rolex, it was hardly ever used

    One week ago I buy the Ocean of Storms in Louvre, they have plenty of them. It was easy and didnt have to wait, the Swatch store was empty.

    The real reason i DID buy one is because I like it 😮

    I'm a bit of a watch fan and I'm fortunate enough to have a small collection of around 25 with varying values from a few pounds to a few thousand. All of them have a bit of a story to tell and they're interesting to me because of that. I got caught up in the hype for the Moonswatch because of the story initially and enjoyed how it got many non-watch enthusiasts interested in buying one due to the fun collaboration with Omega, a very well known brand outside of watch afficionados, and how that might lead some of them into appreciating watches in general. I drove four hours to Edinburgh on launch day and queued with the couple of thousand people that turned up, the vast majority going away empty handed after the very low stocks ran out, me included. I've since been able to get one from Krakow, when a chance visit to the store saw them having some stock. I like it, it's fun, but I rarely wear it due to its fragile build quality and the ease with which the 'crystal' scratches, and the fact that on reflection, it's just a bit....naff. Similarly to the Blancpain/Swatch, it's very over priced, but the difference I feel is that outside of us watch enthusiasts I'd suggest that most people haven't even heard of Blancpain or the Fifty Fathoms and are completely indifferent to it. There's been nowhere near the same hype for this one and personally, I feel that the current collab misses the mark entirely and feels much more like a cynical marketing exercise. I wonder who might be next for the plastic treatment? Longines? Tissot? Gasp! Breguet!?!

      Thanks for sharing. I think this one is built slightly better than the moonswatch, but youre still not getting value for money.Oh please no, not another Swatch Group collab.

      @@michaelkilbride2927 I couldn't agree more. I have three Seikos and even among more esteemed and costly company they hold their heads up high. Hopefully, some of those that bought a Moonswatch will have started looking at watches with a more critical eye and have since bought something better, like a Seiko. :)

    It certainly looks the part but at the end of the day it's a cheap watch sold at a massive mark-up.

    I purchased this watch. I actually really like what Swatch has built. As you have correctly noted, the materials leave a lot to be desired. I have decided that with my OCD, I will many extra steps to safely preserve this timepiece.
    Is this practical or realistic for most people, no, but I will make it work.
    Lastly and perhaps the most important issue you brought up is Swatch’s obnoxious sales practices. Artificially limited a plastic watch is absurd at the least. The salespeople in Las Vegas were unbelievably rude, pretentious, and unprofessional. The New York, New York location was slightly better, but the mall clowns are killing this brand with their unbelievably bad service. I still like the watch, but i won’t be buying anything else from Swatch again. Frankly speaking, this company is too swallow and phony for me to deal with again.

    Not many nh35 movements get serviced, its easier and makes sense to just change the movement when its cheap so this in house Swatch movement will be swapped and its not a big deal

    • @WatchFocus8800
      @WatchFocus8800  6 месяцев назад

      Yes, not many NH35s get serviced, but they dont cost hundreds of dollars to replace either. The sticking point to many myself included is that servicing isn't an option like it is on the NH35 as an example. Another reason is that the cost to replace the movement might cost as much as it is to buy a brand new Swatch. Thanks for the comment.

      I brought this watch because it doesn't concern me regarding the movement, Swatch sells lots of automatic watches with the in house movement and replace as required, I love the look of this watch I'm well pleased

      @WatchFocus8800  6 месяцев назад

      @The_Jackal it's a nice-looking watch. There's no doubt about that. And as long as you like the watch, that's on your wrist. That's all that matters. Enjoy it in good health.

    I like the look. I’d probably get one, only kidding. Plastic watch with a movement you can never service. Are you kidding me, Swatch? Then to top it off, you can’t order one online. Pathetic, Swatch. It’s the twenty first century, or didn’t you know?😂

    • @WatchFocus8800

      That's a good point. You can't order it online. No, they want you to stand in line for hours, just to tell you they've run out.

      I have about a hundred watches.
      Most in the 200-500 Euro range. I have never had one of those serviced. Once one of them stopped, so I replaced the movement.

    In my case it's a total disaster. Let me share my story to you. I live in Antalya at the Mediterranean south cost of Türkiye. The watch is only in one store sold in Istanbul. Just One store. Istanbul is like 14 hours driving or 1,5 hours flight and I'm handicapped. I mailed swatch headquarters that I want to buy the watch but I can't travel and no friends in Istanbul etc. Swatch hq didn't answer. Few days later I mailed Turkish swatch Hq in Istanbul. Still no answer. I somehow found a phone number of the hq and called. Nice lady said to me there is nothing they can do and I only have to go by myself to the store. I called the store and shared my story. I told if you can reserve me just one piece color not regarded I will take a flight to Istanbul and buy. What The Guy said was that they can't help me they can't give any stock or availability info and they can't reserve. They said I have to come to the store and buy if there is any at that moment. What a .......

      Its known by the world that neither these nor the moons are or were ever going to be available online. Not really a disaster. Unfortunately you will need to pay a small fee and buy somewhere like stockx or resellers or you need to find a friend or family member to go get you one.

      Don't be sad. The Swatchblanc is a) ugly (for example the case height combined with plastic - it just wears wrong!) b) a rip-off (maybe worth 10 bucks in production?) and c) deminishes the flair of Blancpain (fuck exclusivity!). I had one and gave it back. Save the money and buy a real Fifty Fathoms, even if it takes you a couple of years (look at the No Radiation for example which I hope they bring back). I felt so satisfied after returning this piece of junk. I really did!

      @@WatchFocus8800 for me it was the case material. It's too brittle. Recycling soda cans could have worked better than this silly bioceramic. Tons of posts I've seen with broken crowns and pushers on the moonswatch. I wouldn't touch those with a ten foot Pole.
