lol Took a couple of seconds (basically the moment Jaskier walks towards Geralt in the pub) and I was like, oh no, nonononono, oh yes, this is going to be an epic ship and I have zero willpower to withstand it. XDPS: Joey Batey is the discovery of the century. I can't remember an actor who is that cute but also that charismatic and that much of a total scene-stealer. You can't take your eyes off him and he's not my type at all. It's just how good he is. Netflix really hit the jackpot with the casting and with Henry and Joey's chemistry.
Very true, he's more like those 40ies/50ies actors who were insanely skilled to perfection at acting, singing, dancing, stunts, playing musical instruments etc. because they grew up in Vaudeville theater. I mean how old is he? 27? And he's not only a great actor (Shakespeare Company at 22) and singer (beautiful voice, can do anything from jazz to classic) but also plays 10+ musical instruments including the fricking lute, speaks several languages and various accents, has stunt and stage combat/sword fighting skills. How even?!I really can't wait to enjoy him in the upcoming seasons of Witcher and hopefully in some excellent movies as well.

(I just had that funny image in my head how they start to watch the show and jumped up and scrambled and slipped over the floor to get to the phone and secure the gig after seeing Joey on screen for one minute lol).I remember there was someone from the Witcher team who sang Joey's praises and recalled how they found him and how he impressed at the audition. As in totally and utterly smitten with Joey, best thing that happened to the show etc.. If that was the show runner then I think we've got nothing to worry about but even if not, they would be stupid to ignore such a strong audience response to the character. Really really stupid.
Well, the show runner better does make some good (the right) decisions..I'm glad he's getting that chance now. Fully deserved and he worked very hard for it. Fingers crossed for some movie announcements in the upcoming months. :)

@@mariapapadopoulou549 So the thing is there are 2 books that are basically short story collections that predate the actual book series with the big over arching plot involving Ciri and Nilfgaurd. The actual book series (revolving around Ciri) consists of 5 books. The first season of The Witcher basically showed you most of the first 2 books with all the short stories, as well as the first 100 pages of the first book in the book series proper. In the short story collection Jaskier is pretty much the only character Geralt meets more than once aside from Yennifer. You get to see a fair amount of Jaskier in those 2 books and then he is only in like one chapter in the first book of the main series. Then you don't see him again until book 3 where he is in it for the whole thing and it's awesome. But yeah he really seems to be Geralt's best friend. They don't have as much animosity as is portrayed in the show. Yes Yaskier gets himself into a lot of trouble, but Geralt usually just stands there realizing the trouble that's about to start but letting Yaskier do his thing and than he just helps get him out of the trouble. There is never really any fighting. The closest I would say comes from the 3rd book in the main series (Time of Contempt) because Geralt doesn't want anyone knowing what he is trying to do (which is find Ciri) and Geralt wants to go look for her alone because he thinks it's too dangerous to bring anyone else along. Yaskier tells a couple of the people they're traveling with and basically forces Geralt to accept help. So Geralt gets a little annoyed, tells him to shut up and gives him the silent treatment for a bit but ultimately gets on board. Geralt is actually really considerate of others feelings or rather doesn't like conflict, in my opinion, he very rarely will comment on what people are doing even if he doesn't like it or agree with it. You have to be direct and demand an answer from him, even then he will explicitly state what he will and won't do but he is actually pretty much always polite while doing it. I just couldn't see him really snapping at Yaskier and telling him he wants him gone like he did in the show. I actually don't think Geralt ever asks Yaskier to leave, usually Yaskier is the one that goes, like he decides to stay in a town or visit a court to perform and they alway part amicably. Honestly, I like their friendship and think it's more healthy than the romantic relationship Geralt has with Yen. I really don't like Yen, she isn't evil, she's just not very nice and the relationship her and Geralt have is so contentious. You never really get to experience them happy together. You are told they lived together for a couple years and then broke up. They are very off and on and they always seem to fight when they are together. I just really don't understand what they see in each other it seems very toxic. You're basically told they're in love but it doesn't feel like it, which is more a problem with the books themselves. They did a pretty good job of adapting their relationship into the show though. I just know that in terms of the books they are endgame so there is no hope of anything romantic between Geralt and Yaskier. But if I only watched the show and didn't know that, I would want Yaskier and Geralt together over Geralt and Yen. Yaskier is just more fun and positive and ultimately a better influence on Geralt. Sorry, that was long.

Like we never get all that stuff in the books. Geralt guesses she used to be a hunchback and we know she can't have kids and wants too, you know she went to the school, but that's basically it. You don't get chapters from the different characters points of view until the main book series and by then they don't go back or anything they are just going from the present mostly so it's all about their connection to Ciri and what they're doing to fight Nilfgaurd and stuff. I think the show did a good job of making her seem more sympathetic and explaining where her obsession with power comes from but in the books she just comes off cold and bitchy for no reason most of the time. But yeah you should definitely give the books a chance. They aren't great, I will warn you. They have a good premise but I wish they would elaborate on things more and that the characters were more proactive. It is interesting though. I especially like the short story collections because it reminded me a lot of Neil Gaiman and how he takes popular fairy tales and myths and reimagines them.
