    Well he wrote in the book that the nukes were destroyed in the air by some anti-missile defence system, but they still exploded. Howerver, this made them less destructive and it gave some time to the people to make it into safety. And I loved that it is based on real life Moscow, since the author lives there. It makes it feel more realistic.

    • @BinLamim
      @BinLamim 4 года назад +14

      @LineOfCars Well he basically wrote that they exploded mid-air, maybe the nukes themselves had some sort of defense mechanism that they would explode if something was to destroy them. @@BinLamim the way it was described, air defense took out only a portion of the nukes. The rest detonated as intended. Nukes are supposed to detonate in the air so that they don’t uselessly transfer such a huge portion of their energy into the ground, unless you’re targeting a bunker or something. Also, nukes wouldn’t detonate like traditional explosives if shot down. You need fairly precise and controlled conditions to properly detonate them.

  • @Orangutann1
    @Orangutann1 4 года назад +197

    Fun fact!: Glukhovsky grew up taking the metro in Moscow and one day went “huh, what if nukes killed everyone and the remainder of the world survived in these tunnels” thus metro 2033 was born... in the original novel Artyom died during the climax, which got changed cause the publishers thought it didn’t make sense to have the final act of the book missing its main character. And as far as these games go, the devs either had been through the metro themselves, and also had a bunch if diagrams and models for recreation... plus Glukhovsky heard of the project and helped them out which was pretty dope he helped advertise the game and such and (i think) helped with the script to a certain degree. Im a massive fan of These games 4A did beautifully and Glukhovskys novels are even better

      There are also some questions if Abzats (the DShK-based shotgun) could be realistically made on 12x70 buckshot without the weapon being basically built from scratch, as the shotgun calliber is measured by different methods than the 12,7x108mm rounds are (the real diameter of the 12x70 shells is closer to 20mm AFAIK), the .44 Magnum rounds would be really weird in Russia, and only in Exodus is the silenced revolver actually designed as silenced (with correct shape of the ammunition), but overall, I think that Metro's art department did a great job with guns (and the occassional crossbow/airgun they made).

    Honestly, I can't think of any game that has had me as invested in the atmosphere as much as the Metro series. The random citizens huddled around a fire and having a chat, the vendors peddling weapons and goods, the decrepit tunnels hiding their secrets, I honestly would love if a Roleplaying Game in the Metro world was made, I just want to see more of it.

    Yes Man! Great video Metro is one of the greatest series out there and is extremely underrated I just played through Metro Exodus twice in 2019 one of the only games in past few year yo be released a finished quality product. And also before I even get to the point in the video I would like to say that because of the Metro games I have taken a large amount of time to study moscow's Metro System, it was actually designed as a shelter and all major stations do actually have hermetic doors. In terms of D6, it is possible that just the shit we know about the Soviets built a bunker system down there during the second world war.. that alone should tell you its probably pretty extensive.

    What is the maximum capacity of the Flood's abilities on the cellular or atomic level? Can they adapt to cellular dangers like say the Forerunners construct a nano machine virus that would breakdown the Flood super cell replicate then advance, could the Flood adapt to those situations like the Tyranids do?
    And another question can the Flood with enough biomass create any Flood pureform in any shape, size, and body structure as they want like the Tyranids do but much much faster?

      Graveminds could grow to the size of planets, becoming Keyminds. The humans tried to develop a counter agent to the flood, but it didn’t work. Funny part is, the flood faked being effected by it so they could gather more biomass in secret and let the Forerunners kill the humans off.

    I am about to play this for the first time, on Xbox 360 because I want it's original feel and atmosphere. I own both Redux's and Exodus on Series X because of Game Pass, but never played. I spent 3 months waiting for copies of 2033 and Last Light to ship to me, just to play it's original release on Xbox 360. They both arrived today. I will play the Redux after this, then the original Last Light and it's Redux, finishing with Exodus. I just finished the first book and it was fantastic, I highly recommend the "fan-english-fixed" version as it corrects a LOT of translation errors and grammar mistakes from the original, English version. Great video, I've been watching a lot of this game and I'm super interested in exploring the metros and experiencing the atmosphere, having about committed suicide after coming from 100+ hours of Fallout 3.

    I remember when i got metro 2033, i was so blown away by how good it was. The sequal was really good too. The last wasnt my favorite but i only played a little of it also, didnt buy it so cant say for sure. Man 2033 and last light were just so good, had to describe what it was like finding the game at the time i did.
    When i relized too that advertisments ment nothing for the quality game of a game. Infact, i grew a mistrust for games that were to well advertised and everywhere. Games sell themselves when there good enough.

    I don’t think so, in some sense, as humanity after being in a enclosed space for a long time can generate “Cabin Fever” leading to possible delirium, which may dissipate in later generations, but Metro would never happen as the generation that entered the Metros would probably kill themselves or each other like in one of the Vaults from the Fallout series

    So, just a few questions:
    1. How are they growing crops.? They may have livestock they can eat, but humans can not exist long term on meat alone. And livestock needs to be fed as well.
    2. Waste management? Where are they disposing of the massive amount of waste 200k people generate?
    3. Ventilation. How are they filtering the air they need and disposing of CO2 and other gases?
    4. How are they powering all of this? Where are they getting fuel if they are using generators?

    • @d3203
      @d3203 2 года назад

      1.They grow mushrooms, potatoes and other tough stuff underground. Also chickens for eggs.
      2. Just throw it outside. also recycling is a big part of society
      3.Well, airfilter. The subwaysystem is build as a nuclear shelter in mind.
      4. A generator needs more than just fuel, also i guess they had a lot of it in reserve. You can use wind, musclepower, heat, water, etc.

    I have experienced the Metro system in both Moscow and St. Petersburg (where spin-off novels within the _Metro 2033_ universe are set) and have to admit that they are a one-of-a-kind sight in their very own right.
    And it's pretty unnerving to read the book series reencountering places one has seen in real life, such as the (in-universe utterly devastated) "Raduga" shopping mall where I actually purchased some things or the Metro station "Park Pobedu" where my dad had his apartment when he was working in St. Petersburg - the latter's namesake park was already unsettling enough knowing that it's essencially a giant mass grave for the victims of the 900 days siege of St. Petersburg/Leningrad in WW2 - but in the 2033 series it's also depicted as the territory of some deadly mutants the protagonists have some close encounters with.
    I think having visited these places in person makes the series even more captivating.

    The Metro series truly is a masterpiece and deserves any and all praise.
    For what they had to work with, 4A made a game that blew Westerj AAA companies out of the water with 1/10th of the budget and even shittier working conditions.
    Why a Western company can’t make a good, realistic, hardcore post-apocalyptic game I will never understand. It’s all bullshit like Far Cry and Rage. They have the money but as long as Call of Duty type shoot em ups are popular, why should they make a game with any depth?
    If only more companies were like 4A

    As fantastic as Exodus was, I like the first two games better, 2033 being my favorite. I have also read all of the main books, 2033, 2034, and 2035, and I love the story. I just really liked the dark, cramped, bleak atmosphere of the earlier games. My favorite part of Exodus was Novosibirsk and the Two Colonels DLC. I enjoyed the open world, and the journey to a better life, but what I've always loved about Metro was, well, the Metro. I hope the next installment features a return to the tunnels to some extent. I'm looking forward to the movie, should be out 2022!!

    I’d say one reason the price difference in production is the average pay of workers. You’re not gonna produce the same game in the US on the same price because (I assume) the wages for hourly work is more expensive in the US.
