Hi everyone! Thank you for your comments! I must say that since this video was posted, the pots have become much (much!!) nicer. I think they make this one seem amateurish in comparison! Do take a look! ruclips.net/video/a5bFyjfzTjo/видео.html, ruclips.net/video/TTWw_s1xseQ/видео.html
Thank you Ahmed! Maybe one day they will? Or maybe bonsai pots just isnt that big of a thing :D! As i've done more and more pots, the techniuque is actually showing to be very promising - with loads of details and variations one can do!
best diy bonsai pot video on YT thanks for sharing. i think im going to try a wood mold in this style. going to try shohin/mame size first i think. before i go full in on a 10/20 inch pots lol
Wow thank oyou! Thats so nice! I tried wood before, with the hope of reusing the molds - it does work - but takes quite some time to get the mold "good"! Have you had a chance to try it? Would love to see!
Hi! Yes - basicly sprayed it with water as often as i could. I even think one could immerse it in a big bowl of water or in the sink (dont know if it would get through the styrofoam anyway tho..)
I've seen a few videos with metal net casting - I daresay the craftsmanship for this seems more challenging. Also tried wood cuts for reuse, but these are quite "basic": In the last 1-2 videos I've tried making more detailed and interesting forms and shapes with styrofoam (which would be hard with a reusable mold). I hope to try metal net / freehand casting and shaping soon, a bit intimidated by it tho :')!
What a great find, I'm so Gunna try this very soon ,did you wet them down for a while after the 72 hours or put trees straight in the pots, cheers for a great idea.
Hi! Thank you! Hm nope have not tried those - ceramic has been enticing, but i felt that it would be a completely different technique to learn. With time and trial I feel the concrete pots have become quite good. Figured it would be worthwhile to continue developing the technique! Have you tried ceramic/stoneware yourself?
Haha same, space is an issue and there is allready way to much plants and bonsai stuff around :D. Casting concrete works tho - some mess - but manageable!
Tried foam before and it was messy for me, i was told to try plexiglass. Have you ever used plexi? Just wanted to know your thoughts on it. Great videos. Thank you.
Hi! Styrofoam can indeed get VERY messy when cutting. In one of the newer videos ruclips.net/video/a5bFyjfzTjo/видео.html I included the cutting part - everything became much easier when i started using a Styrofoam cutter. Clean cuts, no mess! I have not tried plexiglass, however i suspect it would be quite costly and perhaps difficult to cut? Have you tried it? I tried making MDF molds but these took time to make, were hard to make details with - and not so functional for re-use.
:-D! Your so welcome and thank you! Do check out the latest vid, i dare say the technique has developed somewhat! I'm just super glad to help inspire diy bonsai pot making. The matrix spoon remains!
Gracias! Muy apreciado! You can try: 1. Concrete/Cement pigment in the mixing process (i prefer this) OR 2. Acrylic-silicon based paint (water resistant, for the outside)!
Hi! The styrofoam sheets are 10mm thick! In the more recent videos I have started to develop the technique and "cut out" the shapes from thicker styrofoam. This has made the mold structurally MUCH more stable and easy to manage (no need for clampers and supports!)
Hi! The nails are about 25mm in lenght (and probably just 1-2mm thick). In later projects/pots I have mostly forgone the nails and just used a glue gun to stick pieces together ( a bit easier!)

I'm baffled at how your videos haven't gone viral.
I've seen simpler looking pots with more views.
Looks classy. Simple straight lines

The bent spoon from the matrix! Bravo.
Nice: did you watered it, during the 72 hours ?

Класс!
As I guess it should be better if you use a metal net for pots and for molding u can use thin wood cuts. After disassemble it's reusable.

Nice one bro! Have you ever tried making ceramic or stoneware pots?

@@bonsaitree-diy I didn't. I live in an apartment, so not suitable for a kiln lol. But I'm a sucker for stoneware pots

Brilliant! Loving these videos. Keep them coming.
Thank you!
Wow, can't believe I've never found your channel before. GREAT content! Thanks for the awesome video man.
This is amazing!
That was the easiest ever. Thank you.

I never thought of using acrylic sheet. 🤔
I can't make this - don't have the spoon from "The Matrix." 😁
Fantastic work! Thank you for this!

@@bonsaitree-diy Cheers mate! Just did - excellent work, and the colour is brilliant!
Use cooking oil to stop the cement sticking
Un trabajo perfecto, qué pintura se puede usar ?
Exitos, saludos desde Costa Rica

This looks like a really neat project!
Bagus om potnya 🎉🎉
Wonderful ...thank you
What's the thickness of styrofoam?

Impressive again!
Great idea , what size nails ?
