I have never seen someone hydrate their concrete with patience like this man. They say, concrete should 'cure' for several weeks being kept moist to obtain maximum strength. Most other videos give them 24 hours at most.
2 minutes in - "ooh, this looks like something I could do!" 10 minutes in - "I definitely don't have enough precision or patience for this!" Very nice pot though
Very cool and I am going to try to make something like this. I've watched several of these and I have been making pots with cement for years. The whole thing is the plastic tool for the exterior. I'm sure I can figure it out somehow.
Wow! That’s definitely a lot of work!! I really did not know it was so involved with all that you did. I can now see why they cost so o much money!! You are a professional that’s for sure!Everything you make is so perfect and precise. Your videos are so calming!! Ty for sharing!!
Very nice looking pot and a nice way of showing the process 👌 Couple of questions. Why does the pot need to be soaked and dried? And any idea how it holds up outdoors when below 0°C?
Cement needs time to achieve its maximum strength. During this time period we need to keep the concrete wet, otherwise it will crack. It needs to be dried for painting.
haven't you did it bro? Another reason for soaking process is make your pot become non-toxic. Cement is harmful for tree roots so without that treatment method, your valuable bonsai could die lol
I am just starting to make cement bonsai or other garden pots - very excited. I love your video. Curious about the curing of the cement - some say to add vinegar to reduce the alkalinity of the cement, to protect the plants. Is this needed do you think? Or is the soaking for two weeks enough?
Excellent work. Very neat and elegant. I would like to try. But two problems. 1. I don't have a turn table. 2 I don't have that plastic thing which you made for designing. Loved your effort. Very skilful and patient.
Amazing DIY pot. Can you please make a details measurement of the plastic moulding? How do you set the thickness of the side and the bottom of the pot? Thanks.
Take a screenshot of it. Then print it at whatever size u want. Cut it out, use it as a template to draw on your plastic. I cut the plastic out w a band saw. Works great
Before using a newly made cement pot for bonsai, it would probably be wise to let the pot cure for a week or two, because otherwise the newly hardened cement will leech huge quantities of toxic lime into your soil when you water your bonsai. Curing can for example be done by letting the pot sit in a mixture of water & vinegar, or water & banana leaves, etc. I think the curing process was what was being done at 15:45? Without description it's a bit difficult to understand what was going on.
Cement only needs water and heat (generated by the reaction) to cure. Vinegar or other additives would not be wise unless you are very familiar with the cement's specific recipe. Letting it cure submerged is not really necessary, most of the time it's just covered in plastic to retain the moisture and that's more than enough, but curing for 14 days is sufficient
No music no BS. Just the essential. Bless you and thank you for this content.
Welcome..

You r very perfectionist!
Amazing work: One thing I would add to this: instead of painting the cement after drying, you can add powdered pigments to the concrete while pouring.
Thank you for your suggestion.
