This is the first time I’ve ever attempted building anything and this tutorial made it SO easy, thank you so much!! IKEA’s little picture instructions were not doing it for me lol
Very nice tutorial. I bought a Billy bookcase today and I will put it together tomorrow. Thank you for showing me how to do it
Excellent tutorial and easy to follow. If there is one observation, I’d say to put more emphasis on carefully nailing the backing onto the unit. Marking the lines is a good step, but even a slight deviation can lead to punching a nail through the top of a shelf and irreversible damage. Ask me how I know!
Just build my second one using your tutorial and it was even easier than the first time! These shelf’s are great for lego display
Thank you!! I have the corner unit with five of these which I had to re assemble after a move. Thanks for getting me started.
Oooh about to build my very first ikea flat pack ~ your instructions help sooo much!!
Very helpful!!!
Thank you so much for this really clear & easy step by step!
Book shelves are up!🎉
Thank you! This was so much easier than the directions made it seem like :)
Thanks for great tutorial!!
Great video, much better than reading instructions, thank you 🙏
Thank you!!!
Very useful! 👍
Bro is the man
Muchas gracias
10/10 - thanks!!
Would leaving off the back affect the functionality or safety of the bookshelf? I really like this one but it needs the open back to go in front of a vent on the wall
The link you provided in the description for how to secure Ikea furniture doesn't work any more. Can you re-post a working link?
Very helpful or we men who who aren’t handy!
Approximately how long does it take to assemble it? Great tutorial!
Can you add one height extention over another? Like, having multiple extenders for the top to reach very high ceilings
Not sure if you're trying to fill up an entire wall to the top, but there is a 93-in tall Billy bookcase. That's the one I'm looking at buying right now.
@@jerseyjoyride1316 I want it 118 inches high
@@kumonojuza73249 months late but you can find extension units separately on ikea
How long did it take?
The link to how to drill the cabinet to the wall isnt working 😢
I need that too!
The backing of mine got wet and when I tried to slip it on it got shredded to pieces 😢 so I had to build it without the back. What I'll end up doing is buying wallpaper for the back
how'd it end up going?
Your not suppose to use a drill on ikea furniture but other than that pretty good tutorial
What’s the 5/16th drill bit for did I miss it !!
It's for drilling holes into drywall. This is if you want to secure the bookcase to your wall
@@originalfurniturereviews2964 thank u I’m working on the Billy later this week
Fyi, Ikea will be changing the material that will be used for the billy bookcases starting next year. I still have the bookcases I bought 29 years ago with the glass doors. They are still as good as the day I bought them. Over the years there have been improvements, especially the backs of the bookcases.
Hi, is that a good or a bad thing or more specifically will the new materials be an improvement? I've just bought 3 Billy bookcases and I haven't assembled them yet.
@@ryokan9120 HI, just in case you have not assembled your 3 yet, you will be Ok doing it. For a novice like me who goes faint at the thought of doing anything manual, this was a breeze. I did not even glance at the Ikea manual, and used this video for my tutorial instead ( with a fair amount of pauses and rewinds LOL). There are just a few differences between his assembly and the bookcases out now but no big deal. Let me know how you faired. I too bought 3 and they went up in no time.
@@nixs2592 Thank you so much! I still haven't assembled them. When you say there are a few differences between his assembly and the bookcases out now, can you possibly be more specific, please or will it be easy for a braindead idiot like me to figure out, lol?
Haha..no worries. The first is the bottom piece (which is the first piece to attach to the 2 longer side pieces) will not look flush when you go about inserting them in the holes like in his tutorial. It hangs off a bit, but that is OK because of a change in the design. The last one is you will not need to mark and use a ruler to line up the backing for the bookcases. The new design comes with pre-drilled holes and plugs to join them together. That's it. You got this!
@@nixs2592 Wow! You're a lifesaver. The irony is yesterday I went to Rymans and specifically bought some pencils and a ruler, lol. But thanks again! I'll let you know how I get on.
For
Confused already as, on the instructions, they specifically tell you NOT to use a drill 🤔
