Ranatunga was mentally tough captain & was respected by his team. He got under the skin of Australian & English teams and particularly Shane Warne. He was not going to take any nonsense from any player, Umpires & match officials. It was Mike Atherton the former England captain batsman who conducted the test with Murali and showed everyone tht Murali was born with elbow defect and was not chucking. Respect for Atherton for being neutral and showing the truth.

If I remember it right I think there were two separate incidents when Murali was called No ball for chucking, one in 95 and then another in 99. It was a tri series and not the WC. Both the incidents happened in Australia.
