That John Deere 430 is my dream tractor. My wife doesn’t let me buy tractors very often. What I would do is offer you something but I really love those tractors. I am proud of you that you got that tractor for a steel I might be able to find you another grasshopper and exchange.
The 420 and 430s are my favorite tractors. You did well on that purchase. The Grasshopper too. You bought it right. I'd like to see what it takes to make it run.
Ya got some great buys there and would love to see you get the Grasshopper back up and mowing with it,you'll probably wanna keep it. Email Grasshopper your model and serial numbers and they'll send you manuals for machine and deck for free. PDF of course but still nice.
Will do on the 430. After some inspection it is headed to parts, unfortunately! Too many issues to properly repair in a cost effective manner. I do have a video showing a 400, 455, and X748. I don’t have my 455 anymore and I don’t have a 420/430 with a good deck. So that request is going to be hard to fill 😁.
I would love to see a video on the Grasshopper. I'd love to get one someday they are some of the best and absolutely toughest mowers out on the market in my opinion. I'd trade you my 1978 john deere 316k that's a running and operating machine lol
I know I got my 1985 430 at auction. High hours, body intact, ran well, decent condition, for $3000. I wanted to get it under that maybe in the mid 2s. I dont think I would have bid much more if the bidding was aggressive.

The Grasshopper would be interesting to see as I’m sure many of us here no absolutely nothing about it either! Always good to learn something new.
My father has a Grasshopper and its a beast. Its been bullet proof for years.
The grasshopper is definitely worth putting time into. I’ve got a 721d with over 2000 hours and still works great.
