One nice thing would be to do something like i3 does: instead of hard-coding all those "alt + ...", it has the concept of "mod", so you set your mod in a single line and all the other lines use that "mod"; this way, if you figure out you need to change it, you don't need to go through all those "alt + ..." things to change; you just change it in that one line

Not gonna lie, this all looks like a giant PITA when all I wanted was to move windows to specific fancy zones with each having its own shortcuts.
But watching your (superchill & efficient) videos has shown that the suffering will be worth it & offer more than I knew I wanted.
I’d still love to be ignorant, but I appreciate the learning experience & the config generator too.
Thanks for komorebi, thanks for making it free & thanks for holding my hand along the way.

This sounds a lot like my first introduction to tiling window managers on macOS in 2017 😅
I'm glad you found the software and that there are more materials to help new users available now! Once you get to a state you're happy with you should make a video of your setup to share!

Thank you! I think it's nearly time for a new version of this quickstart guide with all the new features introduced this year 🤔

@@LGUG2Z if it's of any help to say this: it's installed and working now, but I was initially confused between the clear instructions in the above video, and the divergent instructions on the referred installation wiki. There's no mention of Scoop in your video?
Anyway, very much loving this software. AT LAST I have sensible tiling in Windows 😁😁👍

I love this project and I have it installed in my computer but looks like it's made for developers and I ain't one. How do I uninstall this in my machine as its doing some window tiling behaviors that I don't find useful at the moment. Thank you!

Thanks for trying it out! Run "komorebic stop --whkd" to stop running it, then either "winget uninstall komorebi whkd" or "scoop uninstall komorebi whkd" depending on how you installed it 🎉

amazing! I noticed that Komorebi runs in the windows desktop selected. Any way to change that? Also, can I modify the size of the gap between windows? I have to say that in a ultra wide monitor this works truly amazing. Thanks!!

      Thank you for your support!
There is a detailed explanation of why komorebi can only run in one Windows Virtual Desktop here if you're interested in how things work under the hood:

And you can check out this tutorial video for removing / reducing the gaps:

i just tired it. Should it automatically update when I change settings in the .json file?
I changed the padding but had to logout and login for it to take effect

    • @LGUG2Z
      @LGUG2Z  5 месяцев назад

Changing padding on individual workspaces updates immediately, but if you change the default_padding options that only applies to new workspaces created on-the-fly

You don't need to logout/in, just do komorebic stop and komorebic start again
