    It's a shame that shotscope sees fit not to include a help link in the editor. An individual should not be the sole source of help for their apps or dashboard.
    We all appreciate your help Andy. Shotscope should feel obligated to their end users for their products support. With no subscriptions maybe we just get what we have paid for. Live with it.

It is still winter in midwest US so conditions won't be great and it is nice to know i can elect not to include them if every shot plugs...looking forward to some minor edits if my old man brain remembers just what trouble i got into. Thanks for the kind and positive feedback, Dave! Glad you enjoyed the video and hope that it will help you out for editing. As long as you stick to the guidance in the shot scope QuickStart guide/set up videos then you should be fine. It can also take a few rounds for the device to settle and start properly recording every shot.
      I also have a handy 10 things every shot scope v3 user video on my channel which will hopefully be useful, so be sure to check that out.

      Thanks very much for the comment. I do agree about the sizing of the map in the editor and have noticed a few other users complaining about it not being big enough. I suspect this is probably a fairly simple fix for Shot Scope and may get changed in future updates. In general, though, I think the new editor is a huge improvement. What do you think of it?

      totally agree with this. If a hole runs east west or west east its fine, but if its north south or vice versa (which 16 of the holes on my course are) as soon as you zoom in at all you lose the overall picture of the hole. Perhaps these holes could be rotated 90 degrees? Other than that it's an improvement

      Maybe in a future update they can make that window resizable. While zoom helps I keep wanting to drag that window bigger when editing the putting strokes on the green. Otherwise I enjoy the update especially seeing the beginning distance of a shot. I pretty much compare my play to a 20 handicap and enjoy seeing the positive changes that occur with strokes gained when having a good round. You appreciate how Tee, Approach, Short and Putting are different, BUT yet connected to each other when recalling situations after the fact.

      Thanks very much, Joe. Really appreciate the comment and the fact you found the video useful - that's why I created it. I think a lot of users would find editing using the web dashboard much easier than the app, but probably use the app seeing as it's required to upload the round from the device. I usually edit using the mobile app as soon as I've finished my round, but have it down to a 10 minute task. If I want to be really pedantic then I'll use the online dashboard like in this video. I guess it just comes down to personal preference but the bigger screen on your laptop/desktop does make it much easier.

      Hi Larry,
      Thanks for taking the time to check out the video and for the kind feedback. You putts will be recorded automatically with the V3 or by tapping you putter tag on the face of the H4, which will automatically record the distances for you from the hole. You can then move these strokes or the hole to alter the distances of each putt.
      The 1/2/3/4 putt options on the watch are simply used during your round to mainly collect the location of the pin (you select the no. of putts directly over the hole after putting out) and to confirm to the watch that the number of putts it has tracked are correct.
      You can find more information here: support.shotscope.com/hc/en-us/articles/115005608069-How-does-the-PinCollect-feature-work-

My putting is currently SG positive to scratch but everything else (tee, approach & short game) is negative so it would be easy to just concentrate on all of these negative aspects but I guess I want to make the most effective use of my limited practice time and get the most "bang for my buck". Looks like it will make editing a lot simpler. Are there any plans to incorporate a weather or course condtion option so the performance stats can be further refined. For example, over the winter, our course is often water logged or frozen solid so distances can vary hugely. It would be useful if we had such an optionso our club distances were accurate in any given condition. So, if I normally drive 260 yards including roll out in the summer / dry conditions, I wouldn't want my driving stats to be affected by drives where the ball has plugged in winter or very wet conditions. This may also help when recording wedge shots so roll out can be better calculated, again depending on the conditions. BTW the WRS / Scottish Golf app has never shown any variance for weather conditions on any round I've played over the last year .... and I've played in all sorts !. Keep up the good work Andy - great video as always!

    • @AndysGolfBlog
      @AndysGolfBlog  Год назад +1

      Thanks very much taking the time to leave a (kind) comment - glad you enjoyed the video. I'm not aware of any plans from Shot Scope to add in a weather/course conditions option to the editor if I'm honest. I seem to recall this being suggested before on the Shot Scope support group on Facebook but I'm not sure if Shot Scope planned to do anything with the suggestion. I guess the problem is how do you determine the conditions to begin omitting shots from performance stats, especially given how much weather conditions vary. As a general rule of thumb, I only ever choose to include rounds which have been played on a full course (main tees/greens and without winter mats) in my performance statistics. That way, I know that the stats are going to generally be of a suitable standard and worth analysing. Even if it's really windy, I'll still include them because everything should average out over time. I get that it might be annoying seeing your 260 driving average taking a dent when you play into a 30mph wind and your drives are only going 190 but I guess that's how it goes.
      Will be interesting to see what Shot Scope do next with regards to the editor but I think it's a great to see them making these changes to better align the editor with the rest of the dashboard in terms of looks and feel - something I think is long over due.
      Anyway, thanks again for checking the video out and for taking the time to leave a comment. I've got a few more Shot Scope videos planned, so be sure to keep your eyes peeled fort them!

    Hi Andy, whats your feeling on second shots on par 5's being included in approach stats? For most of us mere mortals we are never going to reach the green in two. Personally I sometimes will hit a full shot up to bunkers say because I know i cannot clear them. Would personally love a third type of shot as well as positional so these shots help round out my distance stats for clubs without ruining approach shots gained.

    • @AndysGolfBlog
      @AndysGolfBlog  Год назад +1

      I noticed a similar debate on the FB group and am of the same opinion as you (and most others). A GIR on a 5 is with the third shot, not second, so this does seem very strange. We have five par 5’s on my home course and there are only two holes I’ve every managed to get on in two on - both only once. I’d say only about 1% of the players at my club play those par 5s with the ability to get there in 2.
      Realistically, a layup short of the green with your third shot should be a positional shot in my opinion, not your second. Surely this whole issue would be fixed if the second shot simply wasn’t marked as an approach by default?

    • @gtsgolf9410
      @gtsgolf9410 Год назад

      @@AndysGolfBlog i am going to argue against myself here but thinking about this it should be maintained as it is to maintain correct values in shots gained. If we cannot reach a par 5 in two or even a par 4 on the second shot but pros/long hitters can that should be reflected in shots gained. Last year i marked second shots on par 5s as positional but this year if i hit a full shot i will have that count to my club statistics. I will get better club stats but will have to swallow my pride on approach shots gained and approach proximity. Either that or learn how to hit it further or play off forward tees outwith (note the scottish parlance 😊) comps.

    • @jdg0928
      @jdg0928 Год назад

      @@AndysGolfBlog Personally, I don't see how this is debatable. Subtract the two putts from a par 5, and that means the approach is the third shot.
      For me, I'm trying to be a bogey golfer, so I use GIR+1 as my benchmark. I wish there was a setting that allowed an extra stroke before calculating approach stats. I think this would be appealing to high-index golfers. It's very discouraging -- and basically useless -- to see that I hit 1 of 18 greens in regulation when I might have been 16-for-18 in GIR+1. In addition, it would properly calculate my approach stats. I was marking my second shots on Par 4 holes as positional before I realized that omitted them from the stats. It's a very frustrating situation when I'm trying to use data to improve my game.

      There has been a lot of debate over what do with in the scenario. Personally, I’ve always lived by the rule that I only use the positional option if for example, I’m chipping out of the rough with a 5 iron to keep it below the trees and it’s only going to go 120 yards or so. Basically, just getting myself back into play using a club that I would normally hit considerably further.

      Anyway, it's a good idea to check the Shot Scope videos ahead of going out to the golf course. I'd suggest watching (if you've not already done so) the following two videos:
      How to set up and use the Shot Scope V3: ruclips.net/video/PsFGwUE6Y7w/видео.html
      10 things every user needs to know before using the Shot Scope V3: ruclips.net/video/X7SmqhpdwFQ/видео.html
      I'd also strongly encourage you to read the Shot Scope quick start guide/user manual as it's packed with a lot of useful information.
      With regards to using the V3 on the golf course, I've not yet captured such a video but have one in the pipeline - just need to wait on the weather to improve so I can get out and produce one. It would include penalty strokes etc. To be honest, though, I find adding lost balls etc so easy when editing I tend to simply play golf and not record any penalty strokes whilst playing - I always do so post-round.
      Finally, I've not yet gotten around to uploading that video so haven't been able to link to it quite yet. I hope that it'll be live by the end of the weekend or at least at some point next week. It'll definitely be up soon, though!
      Anyway, thanks again for the view and comment. Feel free to check out my other videos and subscribe if you've not already done so as I've got plenty more Shot Scope videos to come.
      Cheers,
      Andy

    I am having an issue adding a stroke to a water hole. If my shot goes into the water hazard I have the choice to play my next shot from a Drop Zone which is off to one side of the fairway but I can't get the dashboard edit function to recognize my shot from this offset Drop Zone. Please can you advise how this can be done.

    • @AndysGolfBlog
      @AndysGolfBlog  Год назад

      You should be able to follow these steps:
      1. Locate the original shot that found the water (e.g. tee shot) and click on it.
      2. Click on the three dots to display the further options (change club/positional/ etc.)
      3. Click on the ‘Drop Ball’ option and manually move the location of the red ‘Drop Ball’ marker that will appear at the end of the selected shot to where the hazard was.
      4. Move your next shot to the location where you played from (the drop zone). You shouldn’t have to do this, though as the device should already have picked up where you played this shot from.
      Hope this helps, Tony. Be sure to subscribe to the channel as I’ve got plenty more Shot Scope videos on there and many more to come!

    Do you know what to do when you lose a ball and decide to move on to the next hole. I alwaýs pick my ball up in stableford when I know I can't get any points, but I don't know how to handle this in the editor.

    • @AndysGolfBlog
      @AndysGolfBlog  5 месяцев назад

      Hello. There is a ‘pick up’ option when on the pin collect screen, but I think this one clears all shots from that hole, so might not be worth using. Alternatively, (off the top of my head) you could just delete the putts that it automatically puts in for the holes you’ve not competed, leaving just the shots up to the hole. The only issue from a rounds perspective is that it’ll show this as having holed out from the fairway or wherever you played your last shot.
      I know shot scope mentioned a few years ago that they wee looking into stableford but there hasn’t been any news so far. I guess they’ve got other priorities but it would be good to see this type of scoring built into the editor and stats.

    • @AndysGolfBlog

      When editing a new or existing round, the first screen should allow you to select your tees from a drop down list. You can also create your own tee set and add the SI’s using the blue plus button next to the tee option on the app. I can’t remember off the top of my head what this option is called on the desktop version but I think it’s something along the lines of ‘add custom tee’ or something similar.

      Okay, I get what you mean having now looked at it, and I have the same issue. I'd suggest just clicking OK for the Women's tees anyway, then just creating the tee set. I don't think it will make a real difference to the tee location for each shot but if it does you can just manually move them. You could always contact Shot Scope (support@shotscope.com) to ask why the men's option is greyed out you're really concerned but adding the indexes isn't something I normally bother with to be honest.

    Why do the stats not get saved to medals, leaderboards etc when using the quick sign off?

    • @AndysGolfBlog
      @AndysGolfBlog  Год назад

      It’s because you’ve not spent time going through to check that the data is correct. I suspect this is a move to try and bring some kind of authenticity to leaderboards as they should then only contain shots that have at least been checked. Leaderboards have been plagued with 600 yard drives and hole in ones etc since they launched because any and all shots would be included. By at least making users review their rounds I guess it’s hoped that the leaderboard data will be more of an accurate representation of real shots/rounds.
      Does that make sense? Hopefully it does!

    Apologies if this has already been answered but if I'm on course using my V3 and hit, say a 3w not very well but 70 yards. How do I mark/note via the watch that I'm playing the same club but now 70 yards further on? Or is this only a post edit issue?

    • @AndysGolfBlog
      @AndysGolfBlog  Год назад

      Hi John.
      You won’t need to do anything on this situation because you’re playing from 70 yards on. Both strokes will be captured automatically and count towards your performance average for your 3 wood. Obviously, say you normally hit it further than 70 yards then your average will drop slightly after this stroke.
      If you’ve purposely only hit the 3 wood a short distance (over 50 yards), say out of the trees, you can mark the shot as a positional shot so that it doesn’t count towards your average. You could also use this method to prevent counting this 70 yard 3 wood although I’d suggest leaving it to count.
      The only time that only one stroke may be recorded instead of two is if your using the same club for multiple shots within the same close proximity (way less than 70 yards) - for example, you take three strokes to get out of a bunker. In this case, shot scope may only capture the last stroke because they’re all made in the same location.
      Hope this helps!

    • @JohnBillot

      @@AndysGolfBlog OK thanks Andy, I'll check it out. It's just that having the watch ID the 3W for the first shot, when I arrive at the mis-hit ball say 70 yards further on and "tap" my 3W to my watch it is already showing the 3W (being the last club I played). You're saying it will know I'm playing another shot at that point and don't need to do anything else. Editing later it seems not to identify that extra shot.

    • @AndysGolfBlog
      @AndysGolfBlog  Год назад

      Yup, that’s right. It may not look like it has registered the tag but it will, especially at a distance of 70 yards. If it was 4-5 yards then it could potentially register it as one stroke but not at 70. If it does miss it then you will need to add manually but I’d be very surprised!

      You should do that on the watch or H4 handheld itself. When done on the watch it will clear all shots from that hole. I believe the only way to do it on the app is to delete all of the shots from the hole manually.

    • @AndysGolfBlog
      @AndysGolfBlog  Год назад

      I’ve noticed someone comment on this before on the Facebook group but I’m not sure it’s something I’d be interested in personally, or think it’s something that shot scope could realistically implement. Weather conditions vary so much for golfers all around the world and I guess what one user thinks is a one club wind, others would count as a two club wind or more. Also, the performance average takes all shots over 50 yards into wind so it should give a fair average over time based on all of the different conditions you play in. I guess the only way to realistically get perfect gapping is to book a slot with a professional on trackman or something similar so that nothing else can influence the numbers.
      If shot scope were to add your suggested feature, how would you see it working? Genuinely interested as I think it could be quite complex but always good to hear other ideas.

    • @brucebain6128
      @brucebain6128 Год назад +1

      @@AndysGolfBlog Thanks for the reply. I realise that conditions world wide differ. I play most of my golf at Halifax Bradley Hall, on the slope of an east West valley which funnels the wind east or west, it is rated second hardest in Yorkshire I believe. I am 75, handicap index 9.3. I am never going to improve much now having played for 65 years. What I was thinking was if you could include with each round 3 or 4 single letter searchable fields that people could assign to whatever condition they want to look at. The stats for those conditions would them be available.
      I am pleased to see that the plotting accuracy with the new system is much better, I have very little to adjust now compared to the last 4 years.
      I must admit to having little interest in the medals and leaderboards, some of the stats look too good to be true and with the slopes on my course, drives often bounce off the fairway hitting the middle and greens set into a slope, miss by a foot and you end up yards away.
      I'm not expecting anything from this, thank you for your interest and the video, it was useful.I will continue to use the watch.
      Regards,
      Bruce.

      @@brucebain6128 Hi Bruce,
      Thanks very much for taking the time to reply - definitely makes sense to me a little more now that you've explained it. I think you're definitely onto something with the idea of some sort of note/option users can add to their rounds - I guess like tagging a file on a computer. The tag isn't universal and is unique to each user but allows them to quickly filter specific shots, rounds or anything else. If it was unique to each user and not a general tag then I think this would be useful as it could be customised to suit the needs of the user.
      With regards to the medals and leaderboards - I'd have to agree with you. The only time I've ever used leaderboards was for private groups with my friends as we all know that the rounds are being properly edited, whereas the data in global leaderboards is skewed by users who either purposely cheats or just don't edit their rounds (.e.g. 6,000 yard drives haha).
      I do, however, quite like the medals as a fun additional feature but seldom actually go in and look at them or try to earn more.
      What is great to see is that Shot Scope is always looking for areas to make improvements and further develop its products.
      Thanks again for watching and leaving a comment - all the best for the golf season ahead and kudos to you for still rocking a great handicap in your mid-70s.
      Cheers,
      Andy
