- Kumusta RUclips fam,
Welcome to a new episode here in the Philippines. Continuing on our adventure here in the city of Manila we have arrived in another local district, on the outskirts of Manila called Marikina City, also known as the city of shoes. The locals describe Marikina as so different to metro Manila, from transportation to food to social discipline, as if it is a whole different republic.
In this episode, one of our subscribers Rick who is a local in Marikina offered to tour me around the city of Marikina. We met up at Marikina Park and slowly proceeded to Marikina Public Market to explore signature dishes and snacks, inside the wet market. We then visit local bakeries and restaurants, trying some of Marikina's favourites such as Puto and Everlasting.
Have you been to Marikina? If you haven't, would you visit sometime? Let me know in the comments!

Rick here... Again, thank you for visiting my hometown, Justin! I'm glad I was able to tour you around even for a short while.
Marikina is pretty big and really has a lot to offer, so probably there's still a next time for the other places within the city we haven't been to... 😊
Brother thank you so much for taking me around, it was hella fun 🔥
You did good for being on video
I'm going to go for business trip in Marikina next month in 3w. this is the 1st time i go there, i'm so excited but a bit nervous too
@@hienhuynh7054 don't be nervous it's safe in Marikina
may part 2 to idol?
Welcome to one of my favorite city in Metro Manila. Marikina is like a country of it's own. The most cleanest city and the best well planned city in Metro Manila. Thank you to your friend for showing you around but should have been prepared to all your questions.
I am proud Marikenian…Marikina is known for one of the cleanest city in the Philippines and also known as the “Shoe Capital of the Philippines” and now seems that they are more into cooking and seeing many restaurants and carinderia “local eatery” around.
I just came back 2 months ago for vacation and currently residing in Toronto, Canada.
Thank you for visiting our hometown❤😊
Guys nice you are engaged in Filipino guide in Marikina that show you how filipinos love stranger
The Marikina was called shoes capital of the Philippine. They have giant size shoes not sure what happened to that, hopefully in the next blog your local guide mentioned it to you.
Nakakamiss ang Marikina, Naalala ko biruan namin lagi nung bata ako kahit iligaw ako mkakauwi ako sa bahay sa sobrang linis at kahit papano safe naman for kids
Thank you to our kababayan, Rick Arlos for being Justin's Tour guide for that day.
I hope Justin will come back to Marikina, with Alina, next time.
OMG as a subscriber since day 1 of your vlog in the Philippines im so happy that you visited my Hometown. Marikina City is one of the top5 cleanest city in the Philippines and also our super market. Since Spanish colony our city is already developed thats why Marikina is one of the oldest city too in the Philippines. Marikina is the Shoe capital of the Philippines too we also have biggest pair of shoes in the world that recorded in Guinness world record.
PS sorry for my english
Your english is excellent!! don’t worry
Thank you so much for supporting our small channel since day 1 ❤️ True subscriber
Just sharing: Everlasting - Story says that this dish from Marikina was originally created out of left over ubiquitous type of menudo from carinderia where diners never choose as it was everywhere resulting to recycling it to become this wonderful dish.
Marikina City is a nice place to explore... ❤❤❤🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭💐💐💐👌👍😃
Absolutely! Beautiful city and friendly people ☺️❤️
Wow!!!! Mouth watering!!! We wish we could visit on that country bro! Watching from texas usa😮
Hi Justin, you know all those Rice Cakes that you tried espcially on the latter part of your video were all pretty much the same as the rest that you ate but all of those goes great with the exotic dish called "DINUGUAN" (blood pork stew) and I don't know if you tried it before but that is how we eat PUTO or rice cake. Alina will be glad for all those pastries that you'll bringing home for her.
And try our local HOPIA MUNGGO or any other HOPIA pastries! Salamat Justin and thanks for your food guide Rick showing you around Marikina, the shoe capital of the Philippines!
And just a trivia: you know that place where you are at now is so prone to 20 meters high floodings during stormy rainy season.
1:50 ohh really im filipino but that’s new to me, it’s nice to have him, hes knowledgeable
25:30 that’s a mountain of rice
Yes Kuya Rick is a legend!! 🔥
Hi justin..thank you for visiting marikina.. sana makabalik ka ulit (i hope you come back again)😊 ria
Hardinera is the delicacy in Marikina and it's delicious
Silent viewer here. You should've tried the best selling donut at Ador's bakeshop! Located at the outskirts of the public market. There's a bit of a queue, but the price is cheap and you get your money's worth. I enjoyed your today's video!
that bakery you went to haha that's where I used to buy my egg tarts! those are my favorite!! AYOOOOOOO
Hi kuya Rick l m fan subscriber I always watch your videos ❤

Yummy rice cakes
i want my everlasting sliced then pan-fried a bit, with steaming hot rice and sweet chili dip
Ahahaha..... Gladly you visited my home.... Hehe
Your home town is awesome!
The pandesal you should dip it in coffee then eat it lol.
Welcome to Marikina City😊
Thank you!!
@@project_where where is the next destination? Maybe I can see u there?
try to visit Antipolo City !!!
We Filipino need to learn how to introduce our delicacy in complte information about what exactly it made from ir kinda Ingredients..
I love everlasting! Much better than embotido. If you were more a fan of rice cakes I'd recommend puto Calasiao, very tender and with a slightly different (but again subtle) flavor.
you should go to antipolo!!!
Alina watch ang meet your fellow russian also a vlogger name" fippinez "who live in the vicinity of samal island, davao ,a lot of Russian who live and enjoy the beauty of samal island
Instead of kutsinta, you should have tried bibingka because it is more tasty and sweet. Bibingka is the one that has green pinipig at the bottom. Kutsinta which younate is best eaten with coconut shavings
Next time for sure!!
Try U Maskara Festival This October One Of The Best Festival in The Phillipines,Its Like Brazil Festival
🙂👍
☺️🫶🏻
Your in my hometown 😃
Woohoo I made it 🙌🙌🙌
I appreciate the effort of your companion and I commend him for that however if I were him I'll take you to kapitan Moy ancestral house. It's the location where the first shoes in the Philippines was made and since then the city grew into a city of shoemakers. There's a cafe in that old building where you can savour the authentic marikeño cuisines. It's just across an ancient 16th century Barroque style church and a stones throw away from the shoe museum. It's near to an old Campo Santo which is a Spanish style cemetery and it's near basically to everything, the modern, old and historical areas of Marikina.
@@project_where ah there's a part two 😅
1st.
Ayeee you did it!!
Is there a part 2?
if you want a modern city try Antipolo city it's know for Suman, kasoy etc. Suman is a rice cake .
also more overlooking restaurant and Cafe
bingi talaga tong vlogger na to haha
ᵀʰᵃⁿᵏˢ ᵖᵒ
How about buying some filipino snacks, chips and drinks from the grocery and do snack review? How cool is that😆
That’s awesome idea. What should I review bro? 😎
I Love Marikina❤❤❤
Shoe Capital of the Philippines🇵🇭
where Rina Hindrits vlog
Yes Marikina was so special!
PIGEONS just roaming with people. Wow. I love Marikina.
Andyan ka pla lods tga jan kc aq hehe sayang di kita nkita inperson 😅
"the borne legacy" have their movie part of markina
You forgot visiting lilac Street and marikina heights
miguel and maria lang napuntahan ko doon. paella negra yung panalo.
if you want to know the food better try to taste it to understand what it tastes like and you can imagine what these foods are, you won't understand if you just see and know other foods in the Philippines if you don't try to eat them
is that it? is that the best of marikina?
I miss seeing Alina. Bring her back 😔
@joao antonio Its their channel. They created the channel together so Alina has the right to be in the vlog wether you like it or not. If you don't like her kasi maarte sya because iba yung culture na kinalakihan nya, why do you need to comment it on their videos. They can do whatever they want regardless of your opinion. Thank you 🙂
Justine your so very nice 👍👍👍👍👍
I'm from Marikina heights, We once had great solar lamp post here at Ordonez Avenue, to keep it well lighted at night. But criminals stole the wire so they can rob houses under darkness. People die from road accidents because it's as dark as North Korea here.
The barangay and city have no action on this, it's sad that Markina taxpayers are getting screwed. I miss the former mayor BF he was the best.
This is so random lmao...not a lot of people visit Marikina. I miss my hometown tho :)
Hi Justin!Nice trying different kind of puto.I prefer the white puto.
where is alina?
wag mo na hanapin yon, maarte yon eh, di yon sumasama pag mga palengke ang papasyalan, sasama yon kapag mga malls lang ang papasyalan nila, kaya much better behind the camera nlng sya at taga edit nlng ng vlog dahil kung maarte sya di sya bagay mag travel vlogs..
why Marikina city hasn't high rise skycrapers coz Ph fault line passes there yeah maybe building code restricts them there
It's called Marikina valley coz it's below sea level it's the first got flooded in heavy rains and typhoons passing metro manila
Yes! I noticed they were constructing new fences along the river for this reason!
@@project_where yup and dredging the river. Yeah Marikina is cleanest of them all and most livable and most swimmable city 😂 in times of great flood maybe not anymore today coz marikina has learned a lot of floods they are the most experts of all local governments 😂
Whenever we are going on a long trip outside Marikina when I start seeing skyscrapers I'm like "oh we've exited marikina"
@@KeaneJ123 yeah got what you meanc😂
marikina was not flooded within 1hour like other pllaces. LGU.
No sounds
still no sound?
Really I don't have knowledge that they called Republic of Marikina what only I know they called Shoes Capital of Philippines.
Me too. I was born and bred in Marikina and we never call it like that.
That's how people outside Marikina call the city nowadays, because we can be considered as an oasis in the chaos Metro Manila is...
@@rickthepinoyboi I think I knew already the niche of this vlog about the city of Marikina. Rectify me if I'm wrong but I think it's a foodie vlog? Nothing more and nothing less.
@@richardnuevo Actually, we went to a lot of places within the city. It's just that nowadays Marikina is home to a lot of food and cuisine hence focus on these during the tour... You can see a place's culture through their food.
I am fr Marikina and Iam a bit disappointed with the vlog. The tour guy missed in showcasing some good spots like the OLA church. kapt Moy plaza, Shoe museum. Restaurants like Sundays Hardin ni Lola and Rustic Mornings. You should have visit and taste Mama Tings everlasting.
No need to be disappointed... We went to most of those places but only some made the cut 🙂
@@rickthepinoyboi vlogger po ba kau? I don't mean to offend you po pero medyo boring po ung vlog.
@@forrestgumptellthetruth We did went to Mama Ting's just to cover the Relleno alone kasi Kusina ni Kambal actually is really known for Everlasting. However, it didn't make the cut. Also went to Kapt. Moy but only in the lobby and sneak preview of the wishing well as there was a private gathering being held when we went.
@@rickthepinoyboi thanks and sorry also maybe on the next vlog. congrats
Disappointed the shoemakers, leathergoods makers or hatmakers of Marikina was not shown. The guide needs to improve.
Sa bayan lang ginala.... Kawawa😅
Marami pa namang next time 😊
May part two pa ata brod..
Okay okay guys... Sorry... Kala ko dun lung eh..... Hahaha
THE GUIDE IS NOT TOO CONVINCING..... NOT WELL VERSED IN THE DIFFERENT THINGS HE IS INTRODUCING..... DOES NOT KNOW FULLY THE DETAILS...🤔
Hey, where's your girlfriend did she break you up?
guess it's time for you to swoop in 😂
Haha no, my friend from Russia came to visit Manila. She is not a social media person so I just spent my time with her and soon back to you guys 😊
i really appreciate justin traveling without me and making good content. hope you enjoy this video!
