Ojigo in Yunnan and Sichuan, China~ The final leg of the Ojigo GO trip where we visited only wonderful places! We start at the glamping site, which is said to be the hippest in Sichuan these days. The glamping site is located on the top of Niubei Mountain (牛背山), 3,666 meters above sea level. Spend the night in a place overlooking the majestic scenery of Gongjia Mountain, the highest peak in Sichuan Province. In addition to clean beds, there is also a restaurant with special menus such as yak hot pot, so you can experience the taste of remote travel without any hassle. If Niubei Mountain is a mountain for travelers, Dariang Mountain (大凉山) has been a mountain for the poor for a long time. Shuenyachun (悬崖村), a village located in the cliff basin of Dariang Mountain, over 1,400 meters above sea level. For a long time, the only way for residents of the cliff village to reach the village below was a vertical ladder made of woven rattan. Around 2016, images of residents climbing dangerous wooden ladders became a hot topic on the Internet, and the government stepped in to help residents relocate. For residents who wanted to remain in the village, steel ladders were installed to replace the precarious rattan ladders. Still, the road to the village is still long and arduous. We climb the cliff path, which takes eight hours round trip, to find those who still live here. Just as a dangerous cliff is a cozy resting place for some, ‘hometown’ is a word that warms the heart in itself. We stop by Mengding Mountain, the best tea producing area in Sichuan, the hometown of Shu Dan, the local coordinator who has been traveling with us for nearly a month. The curator headed back to Chengdu with his heart warmed by overflowing hospitality and delicious home-cooked meals.
