    I think that the exploding house in Villager's final smash could potentially be a reference to the decoration limit in Animal Crossing. In Wild World for example, once you've reached the limit, if you try to put down anything else, the game warns you that the floor could give in. Maybe the idea with Villager's is that Nook tosses so much stuff into the house that that happens.

    Here is a fun fact about the Mega Lucario final smash in SSB4.
    In patch 1.1.3, Lucario has received a increase to fall speed (1.56 -> 1.68), fast fall speed (2.496 -> 2.688), air speed (1.01 -> 1.09), and walk speed (1 -> 1.05).
    However, the devs completely forgot to apply these attribute changes to Mega Lucario. As a result, Mega Lucario moves slightly slower overall than normal Lucario.

    In defense of Wolf's (and by extension Falco's) Final Smash, I really don't know what else they could've done to change up the Final Smash other than change up the animation a little to somewhat differentiate them. I don't know a whole lot about Star Fox but I feel like the main thing they (and Star Wolf) do is blast stuff with they're Arwings (and Wolfens). Thus it would be repped in Smash as their strongest attack.

    Just gonna note for Olimar's Final Smash. While he does crash a lot in his home series, I believe this could be a nod to Pikmin 1's Bad Ending.
    There, you collect parts for the ship. If you don't collect enough neccessary parts, Olimar just leaves and crashes back down... which then the pikmin immortalize him as a pikmin himself, I guess.
    But yeah. It just makes little less sense here because the ship here is from Pikmin 2 instead of 1.

    Lucario has always been an odd fellow in the Smash cast. Most of this particular Lucario isn't based in game habilities and appearances, but in Sir Aaron's Lucario, from the Movie Lucario and the Mystery of Mew. Pretty much the one thing new for this Lucario is the Mega evolution, as this was introduced way later in the series. But besides that, this Lucario is basically Sir Aaron's Lucario. Heck, even the VA is the same.

    • @phoenixandy
      @phoenixandy 2 года назад +42

      Honestly, I feel like Lucario was a missed opportunity as a whole, but understanding that Lucario first appeared in the Lucario movie before Diamond and Pearl, means that they’d have to design Lucario based off the movie, and then for future Smash games, it wouldn’t be right to change Lucario’s entire moveset.

    Okay, so hear me out the way to fix toon Links and young links final Smash is pretty simple. Instead of getting rid of triforce slash you just retexture triforce slash. Young link gets a version where he turns into fierce deity and toon Link gets a version where he summons the four sword and have four different links attacking you

      They could have also just dropped the knockback on the hits a lot (possibly adding more hits/widening hitboxes) to make it actually connect into itself like a multihit, then do one last swipe at the end with high knockback to finish. Makes the FS actually viable, and puts it into the category of FSs that are pretty good if they land, but have counterplay - The player(s) caught in it can SDI to potentially drop out of it, while Sonic can drift up or down to follow them. Sonic wants to drag them to the top if at all possible to get the earliest possible kill, but if the player(s) caught in it are SDIing down he may have to hang lower or risk dropping it

One like Pikachu would be he turns into super sonic and charges forward but when he runs into someone he then rapidly flies across the entire screen at light speed all going through the opponent and trapping them but also potentially hitting others around and finishing by transforming back on top of them. Otherwise like diddy kongs could be he flies across the entire screen randomly and then can do a final heavy dash at the opponent that took the most damage as a finisher.

The later-released Kid Icarus Uprising basically based itself on the changes from Brawl. Pit and Palutena's appearances were copied and the Bow weapon line was heavily inspired by the Brawl bow, as all bows can split in two for melee attacks. Even Dark Pit was inspired by Brawl, as Pit literally had a Dark Pit skin in that game, before he was even a character.

      Kirby got the smash ability in Kirby and the Amazing Mirror (not that that really counts)
      Meta Knight's brawl shuttle loop became a part of his default player moveset. Galaxia Darkness appeared as a final smashy thing in playable Meta Knight in Kirby: Planet Robobot. Darkness Illusion became one of his boss fight attacks in Star Allies
      (the Kirby series and Smash have a special relationship; after rolling and dodging was introduced in smash it was implemented in Kirby games)
      Pit, Dark Pit, and Palutena (as mentioned)

    Great video as always! Here are a few things that were sort of missed that I think people should know:
    11:50 I think the key thing you forgot to mention here was that the Triforce is matching the cartoony style of Wind Waker. Oddly enough, it has the fastest start-up of all 3 but Young Link's is the strongest (damage-wise)
    13:53 Wolf's Final Smash is like Fox and Falco's yes, but it actually lasts the shortest time of all 3. But it's also the strongest of all 3 Landmasters (damage-wise).
    17:10 All the pose silhouettes were just the poses you can play in the game. (yeah, that was a bit self-explanatory...)
    19:14 Funny enough, Giga Mac doesn't even punch fast in the 2-player mode, he punches so SLOW

    Fun Fact about Mega Man's Final Smash: The original Mega Man does get a laser ability. In Mega Man 8, you can trade bolts for various upgrades, two of which are Charged Shot upgrades. One is the Arrow Shot, which changes it so it'll split into 8 smaller charged shots that go in a cone pattern when it hits something, and the other is the Laser Shot, which changes it into a piercing laser that deals multiple hits as it passes through enemies.

    I think it would've been cool if Greninja's Final Smash in Ultimate became the giant orange Water Shuriken to fit with the visual change of Ash-Greninja. For those that don't know, near the end of the XYZ anime in the Kalos League, Ash and Greninja were facing off agaist a guy named Alain and his Mega Charizard X. As their finishing move, Greninja used a Water Shuriken strengthened by the bond with him and Ash making it giant and orange (don't ask me why it's orange I have no idea).
