I've been using an 84" Frontier grooming mower to cut my fields. While waiting for some new blades to come in, the dealership brought me a Z960M zero turn to use. To make a long story short, I ordered a new Z960M yesterday...

I use a 6 foot Land Pride finish mower with my Kubota L4060 and it does a masterful job. I dont even run @ 540 pto. I run it at 400 RPM, save fuel and wear and tear, and it cuts grass like its not even there.

All great points! I love my 60” finish mower on my B2601. I also have a 48” Bush Hog. They both really have their place. The bush hog keeps me from over-abusing my finish mower 🤣

I have both. I cut about 7 acres but it's not as open as yours. I have about 8 trees on mine and parts are a bit rough. I just go around the trees and then go back with the zero turn to get around the roots and stuff. The tractor is much smoother to ride on so I am able to go a little faster I think. The zero turn will go faster but it will jar your teeth out riding at full speed. I found an almost new finish mower for $1500 used once and they decided it was overkill for their yard so I couldn't pass that up.

In a residential one acre yard with about a dozen or so pine trees, a 30 inch zero turn was as fast as a 60 inch finish mower behind a hydrostatic tractor. Using the right tool for a job is important.

Sam's Bolens sells the hardware pieces to chain a bush hog or mower to your chosen depth of cut, undependent upon pto height adjustment. It is particularly good when mowing rough land when one must jump the odd rock. The first set came with my Bolens and a 48" 3 pt hitch mower.

Finish mower rear discharge is great! I had several and they kept my subdivisions looking good and the velocity of the blades kept damage to adjacent buildings and people to a minimum. Quieter too.

@@PeeksPeakHobbyHomestead I had two water detention basins in my subdivision that were very steep and difficult to mow with brush cutter . I bought a finish mower and would disconnect the top link. It worked perfectly and would go right up the sides and over the top bank with ease. Made fast safe work of it.

I’ve got a 5ft finish mower that I pull behind my BX. It’s great for getting under trees and backing into tight spaces. I like it for mowing along the road so I don’t blow grass in the roadway. I don’t ride motorcycles and a friend told me how dangerous grass clippings are,it’s like ice.😳 Plus it’s illegal in N.C.😇

I'm learning about equipment I more likely will never use, and surprisingly enough, I'm having a blast doing it.
    Nice going Lucas.
Yeap, Brad keeps his place sharp, and at the same time he really enjoys all of his machines, and also the ones Greg lets him borrow.
Nice to see you again Lucas. Good mowing

I got both 35 HP LS 72" 3 pt finish mower A/C enclosed cab. And 2 60 Commercial Zero Turn mowers for my 5 acres and the Zero Turn is Much faster and a nicer cut. When it's blazing hot I'll use the LS for the A/C. But no comparison for speed and quality of the Cut. Zero Turn has it beat regardless of the height of the Bahai grass.

I see he Tom Sawyered you into mowing his field LOL...... Back on topic, I have been considering getting a flail mower rather than a finish mower to go with my brush cutter. Hoping it gives me the best of both worlds. Thanks for sharing your experience with the finish mower and the great folks over at Piney Grove Homestead.

If you are an owner of very smooth 3 to 5 acres, a three point hitch mower is just fine for the bulk of mowing. As long as you mow often enough!!! Can’t over state “often!!” What this video is showing plenty of belt replacement along with other issues. Been a mowing contractor for 44 years. Speaking from thousands of hours of experience.

It's like I need to get a finish mower for everything I did with the brush cutter, because it looks awful. And use the string trimmer and ZTR around the base of all the trees. Such is life for the OCD property owner ... but these are "First World Problems" 😆

Finish mower isn't married to the tractor is another point. My B2601 the MMM deck I believe only goes to a couple of models. I do like the rear discharge you are showing. Last Sunday I mowed 1 month old thick grass I left lots that could be bailed as hay lol.

  • @JohnSmith-dj5gf

An offset flail plus a finish mower would be the perfect combination.

  • @groundcontrol2795
    @groundcontrol2795 3 месяца назад

The only problem is, the overall final result isn't nearly a nice as a ztr. Rear or side discharge on a rear finish mower, it still leaves more grass laying than a ztr that has the much greater blade tip speed.

Question. Im looking to buy a LX Kubota and mower. My main use will be mowing around my fruit trees which all have a page wire fence around each tree in a 5' circle to keep deer away. The ground is some what uneven. I also mow my field edges with a brush hog on my 7060 kubota. Its a real pain trying to mow around the trees with this set up. This finish mower on the 4 wheels looks like it would be better suited to go over the rough ground. Am open for suggestions! Was thinking a front end mower possibly?

HEy, wheres the belt and shaft guard! All the safety sally's are going to be happy if we can see spinny things spinning. Also missing hard hats, safety goggles, gloves, and dust masks, and ear protection, omg, they will not be able to take it. LOL, I prefer my zero turn in my lawn for a laser like cut, but in a pasture, a finish mower is nice, plus tractor uses less fuel then the gas zero turn.
