For everyone wondering about the audio cut. It was RUclips doing I love this speech and wouldn't want anyone to miss a minute of it but RUclips detected music is the video and I used their music removal software and the audio was cut in three places I'm sorry about that.

“Selling your art is selling your soul, make no mistake about it. Artist have to sell their art to eat and live, but be very careful where you sell those portions of your soul” - KRS☝🏼
Facts KRS One is a very intelligent man who spoke nothing but the truth about how the hip hop culture was created mad respect for that.
@@brandonwilliams5526 I’m a music producer and I gave up on music when I learned how corrupt the industry was. I hated the industry. When I seen krs speak about how hip hop was infiltrated and how there was two lines of artist the line of artist who sold out and the line who stayed true to the art I realized I didn’t have to give up on music I just had to look at it from that perspective
@@supremedreamsproductionsti3600 Facts brother I agree.
@@supremedreamsproductionsti3600 Just remember , KRS was talking about how rap music was infiltrated back in the 90s. Fast forward to today and the supposed face of rap music is calling Emenem the goat or else you are considered a hater because he is white . KRS was way ahead of his time as well as Chuck D.
@Spiritual313Soldier Hate Em? I don't hate anyone , but not going to be a puppet and act like he is all that when he isn't .
I’m here because I’m just a metal head who wanted to learn about hip hop music, but got schooled in Hip Hop culture. This lecture is brilliant.
The degree of difficulty to be able to talk SEAMLESSLY for the amount of time KRS did; not to mention, the ability to be captivating the entire time is incredible ! Sheesh
Master of the Ceremony
With no notes! 🗒️
Dude Really!!!...You are disrespecting this philosopher's wisdom...as if he can't hold a profound conversation to the intelligentsia...here's a Hip-Hop quote for you, "Check Ur Self!!!"
Just wanted to point something out... he had no notes or points written down, unbelievably impressive.
ypu hes the best!! blastmastah!!
Amazing observation 🤟
He's chanelling directly from his higher Self... that type powerful energy can be felt through his voice no matter how long ago it was recorded in linear time. Energy can't be destroyed and it will travel across all time and dimensions if you're willing to receive it 🌌
"the horse's mouth"
That's the result of not faking the funk, don't need to write down what you've lived 💯
Thanks to the Podcast @Macg and Sol and the rest of the team .

KRS One dropped gems for days learnt a whole lot from him.
Not a Hip Hop head but the intertwining of worlds between reality we live in and the Culture that is Hip Hop is undeniably the red pill matrix i'd say.

I remember 1984 I was 7 years old and lived in low income housing in Ohio and was one of few people that had a new ghetto blaster. The older kids from neighboring project housing cut a hole through fence to come and breakdance against us. I supplied them with cardboard for spin moves and controlled the music and heald a flashlight 🔦 on center of cardboard at night. I myself couldn't dance but I later learned to beat box. I'm happy to be a part of the culture. Thanks for all your hard work and dedication . Your an entire library of knowledge.

11:13 "Bruce Kelly" is referring to Jim Kelly I assume. Three The Hard Way (1974) would be the film where Jim takes out some police (for anybody curious)
Yeah, he meant Jim Kelly
I've always been a student of the game since the 80s but when the teacher speaks, we listen. These are facts. Even for us here in P.R. Thank you!
Mad love to you brother - global b-boys and b-girls!
Lla tu sabe Amor & pas para la coltura.
I've got several degrees including a PhD. KRS-1 by far is STILL my favorite teacher. He's been schooling me since the 80s and his scholarly knowledge and ability to break complex concepts down so that even a 5 year old can understand them is a gift from Most High. His range and depth of knowledge nearly rivals that of Dr. Ben, Dr. Hilliard, Anthony Browder, Dr. Umar and Dr. Clark - all of whom were formally trained but KRS-1 is just as well read and he has legitimate credibility both in the streets and in academia. He and Ice T are the modern day "Oracles of Delphi" and 'Primos Inter Pares' amongst the OGs. I am so proud of this Brother!
KRS is an idiot, all those Drs you mention have actually contributed to mans knowledge instead of just entertaining people, I bet KRS has a very low IQ, probably half of those Drs,,,KRS sounds like Whoopie Goldberg,,fake preacher/teacher tone of voice. KRS is currently excusing the crimes of Bam

I started listening to RAP in the 70's, so imagine the pride in my heart and spirit listening to "THE PROFESSOR" give history lessons on the origin of HIP-HOP. It was considered a fad, then a threat and I still feel a certain way about black self proclaimed leaders and spokespeople trying to shut you all down. I am 63 and will be a HIP HOP lover till my dying day.🎶🎤
Bless your heart!

That “Rockstar” inner voice inner being portion was so brilliant it’s hard to even fathom but it is real. Salute to KRS for all his contributions to the culture. Rest in Power Scott La Rock.
It must be too brilliant, the sound is interrupted once he tells you to say it to yourself.
@@jeffwilson8766 that's new. I've watched this a few times and it's been clear every time.. came here to see if anyone mentioned that part being silent now. Pretty strange..
I had a similar conversation with my elder sister 15 years ago. When I saw that part it blew my mind. Hair standing up on my neck. KRS-1 is an amazing person.

I wish he would have touched on the term "culture vulture". As a white teen, I loved everthing hip hop. The music, the clothing, the arritude, etc. Am i a vulture? A thief of something that doesnt belong to me? Does it matter that I lived in both tough cities and peaceful suburbs? Hip Hop came with me. It lives in me today at 41. I am still Hip Hop. I get looks like " why is this middle age white dude listening to UGK, or The Beatnuts, Mobb Deep? I don't relate because i didnt grow up in that element, right? Well it's not the story i always relate to, its the feeling, the anger, the vibe, the knowledge.I dressed HIP HOp cause I wanted to exprer ss my love and attract those like me. Music touches a place in your soul. My favorite artists I hear a different way. Their voice is mine. And I emulate what I love and respect. I never felt like a theif or a fraud. Its me. I am Hip Hop
it's miss directed hate on whoever uses that term....
from a personal, cultural, even societal context.....you should feel almost nothing in any of the realms you touched on....
it's all bs...simple hatred masquerading as, you name it: activism, wokeism, philosophy, politics.....I could go on and on.
you get the point....
all of it every last bit of it is all just thinly veiled hatred...
it's music nothing more nothing less....doesn't matter who makes it.... it doesn't matter who listens to it.... it's not how music is experienced... on macro scales like that.... so to speak on it on those kind of terms in any fashion is absurd....
nah brother, you are not a vulture......hip hop is for everyone......but it should have stayed a bit more guarded so the industry wouldn't take advantage.....in my opinion hip hop is for the poor......the ones from the ghetto.......we needed to fill our souls with something that no one could take from us......unfortunately we gave it away..only thing we can do is support the real ones.........
Is there vault, I think you people don't damn get it...it's not put down other race Hispanics would be culture vulture as well I think miss the point
@@Derellrassy87 theres no way latinos can be culture vultures when they were also segregrated just as much and continue to be..........without places like latin quarters and some early latino hip hop acts Hip Hop would probably not be the same

This speech had me in tears man. The things O.G.'s did for the youth are truly inspiring, a way out. They gave us a way out. Everything was done for peace for the youth, it's crazy. The Government were trying to take us out while the O.G's were trying to build us up. Thanks for posting , I been seeking this knowledge for a while trying to understand why things were done the way they were done. Thank You.

I love how excited KRS is in basically every single interview or speech I've heard him do about Hip-Hop......I love seeing people in Love.
I'm going to be honest I never realized how new of a thing Hip-Hop is.
Forget a metaverse I just jumped into the multiverse with this lecture
Loved him before still love him even more now. All hail KRS
Shout out from Lake Charles Louisiana much Respect KRS ONE this is profound teaching and history I have always been a HIP HOP head and Graffiti enthusiasts ever since I was 9yrs old back in the early 90s
So much has changed with HIP HOP, it's good to see an early HIP HOP Pioneer teaching about the real essence of the Culture God Bless Peace ✌

Man that part about being careful who you sell your soul too is the best wisdom I've ever heard on that topic
Most people hit you with the surface "don't sell your soul" this man acknowledges that every man at some point must sell his soul in order to eat, so the earnest isn't on not selling but who you sell it too
This is one of the best speeches ever thank god for hip hop
All the way from podcast and chill
KRS ONE talks awareness and knowledge very well and with loads of depth.

Salute to KRS 1. What a brilliant mind!!
I heard my 1st Hip-Hop in mid 1970's, l really disliked it.. just wasn't my jam. Flash forward to September 2022.. accidentally ended up here. The subject didn't interest me.. was just about to leave when this guy started talking. He is Soooo Interesting and knowledgeable! To my surprise l was riveted, l watched the WHOLE VIDEO, learned so much, and really, really, really ENJOYED this!!!
Thank you so much for this.. ..WONDERFUL!! I'm feeling the beginnings of appreciation that l'm certain will help me to be more accepting and be more open minded especially about Hip-Hop. There's still much to learn... this guy is ABSOLUTELY FASCINATING... l thoroughly enjoyed this. THANK YOU, AGAIN!!! 🎤 🇨🇦

I've been listening to the music for about 25 years. Basically since gangsters paradise hit in my little European town when I was about 11. I wanted to skip this video on some "yeah yeah I know that" shit. Ended up not knowing about 95% of what he was telling. My man is an awesome speaker
i love how Grandmaster Flash "frankensteinD his own equipment together X
Learned a lot of this just living and closely listening to some of the best to do it, but I love hearing someone like KRS affirming what I already know. Plus a lot more to learn.
Blessed to have met this man, and many members of the Sugar Hill Gang. I remember Co-Hosting a fundraiser for DJ Kool Herc when he was very very ill. I am only 29 years old. I am incredibly lucky to be in a chapter of Zulu Nation or I would have never had such experiences.. I love love love the culture. I am it, it is me. When he says be careful about when and where you sell your art. I learned this hard lesson at 18. I was too eager. Now I move with intention, purpose and grace in mind. Wonderful wonderful lecture. As always !

Hip-Hop was a derivative of rapp. In the late [free love , drugs, & war] 60s and 70s Gil Scott Heron known for his rapping with a message. Also at the time there was a lot improvise aleppo on street corners. Basement parties was the norm and one person would spin the records. The infusion happen along the way and all this was necessitate out lack of resources i.e money.
