Brilliant video. Informative and the background music and sounds dont detract. Excellent viewing. Subscribed!
Just got back from Orkney, my daughter just got married there, tried to fly my drone but DJI will not let you fly in Kirkwall and some other places , beautiful place ❤️
Kirkwall airport NFZ extends to the middle of the town. I think I found the edge!
Amazon drone shots. Great choice of archive footage and maps. Loved the style, and straight forward information provided. Great documentary!
thank you.. very glad you enjoyed it.
My late Grandad was based in The Orkney's during WW2 and served in the Royal Marines. I'd like to visit The Orkney's in honor of him.
I highly recommend a visit, and if you can a day trip to Hoy. It is an extraordinary place with ancient as well as modern history and lots of sea life. Not many trees. so go when the weather is fair.
fairs on the ferry round trip for 1 and car is around £150 return
@@julesdingle Where i live it would take at least 8 hrs to get there but he would have liked me to go up there and seen what he did up there.
8 hours is not bad, it took me 3 days to make my way up.. but I did do some filming and enjoyed the trip.
The islands are very camper friendly.. you park in beach carparks [and no height restrictions] the loos are everywhere and have hot water and you can camp on the beach on the dunes.
@@jaggass I have just done it from Orkney to Portsmouth, 100% worth it, took me and my 2 dogs 14 hours with a load of stops
RNAS Twatt. Who would like to get billeted there ?😂😂
Would help if you could pronounce the names properly
