Getting me hooked ! Always liked the black substrate and hate the thought of active substrates bouncing around. Can't remember the last time I cycled a tank because I have done it like you do. Now I have to contemplate a caridina and a sulawesi tank. Thanks!
Good video! Been looking for info on setting up sula shrimp tank. Hopefully will be able to do it in the coming month (probably by april) Question! Are your live stock locally bred? ,import tank bred? Or wild caught? I seem to have only wild caught source available locally. I dont know about the success rate of adapatation to tank environment
Great question and thank you for your support. I've got locally tank bred, about 30 mins drive there's a few local sulawesi breeders. Some are wild caught, got to be careful with some, I had some with diseases. I haven't gotten locally bred but shipped before as there's a few sulawesi keepers in canada but locally bred is easier. They ship ok the wild caught ones. Hope that helps
Hi Ray, what temperature do you actually keep these shrimps at? I am confused. In your video 1:37 minute in, you said 20 Celsius is 84 F. Do you have some other temperature conversion scale? Maybe the audio not clear. Maybe you said 28 is Celsius. So you are really keeping these shrimps at 28 Celsius? But 28c is only 82.4 F. Not 84F.
Nice video Ray, I like your new setup! is one of my dream project to make a Sulawesi shrimp tank. Maybe I can trade golden Galaxies to sulawesi shrimp with you😂😂
@@RWAquariumPages Let's do it, they now breed a lot, lots of babies. But I nee to make a tank for sulawesi it takes few months. I'll try to get it ready for September-October before cold weather

One question. Just got some purple Hercules rabbit snails and they seem a bit sluggish. Fed good at first and probably taking a rest after their journey but do you think the higher TDS in tank effects them? I am going to do a water change now and see if that helps.
@RWAquariumPages Thanks. They were the only ones that were closed up a little when I opened them up. Got them in and they went to town and pushed through the substrate and ate what I put in there. Been a few days kinda dormant since but moving now. I am really getting stoked about getting shrimp only tanks going even though I have had success with babies in a nano fish tank. Thanks. Enjoy your weekend.
Looks pretty good to be honest it's within range but stability is key, I'd prefer tds of 130 to 150 more personally but 200 will work as long as it's stable
@@RWAquariumPages yeah I mixed to GH 6 first with Shrimp King Sulawesi, TDS was 134, then boosted PH with Tanganyika salts to PH 8.4, that boosted tank TDS to 200, GG 7, KH 7, PH 8.4. I can mix to this every time no problem, hoping PH will stay boosted between water changes. Plan on changing 10% water changes. Do you recommend weekly or bi-weekly water changes with slow drip back in?

Hi Raymond, I have a question about how long Harlequin female carrying her eggs before they hatch. I have cardinal and harlequin females carrying their eggs at about the same time, but I see cardinal babies in about 28 days. No Harlequin babies after 35 days. Then much later I see only one harlequin baby. Any reason? Similarly for Yellow nose.
It seems they are happy at these temperatures. When the days as hot as 28c, I use a laptop cooling fan to bring down the temperature to 25c. My cardinals are breeding like crazy.

Yes you can for white socks, white orchids and blue legged poso, they'll do well in 7.5. Any harder species like harlequin use the 8.5
